======== “Phase 2” Con’t from Bethany’s “Thawing Out” ======== Location: SFA Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0305.1117 Scene: Holodeck Lieutenant Sevlock walked up to Cadet Tam Niala, his eyes sweeping across the face of the immediate area with the quiet stoicism often associated with half of his genetic structure. He glanced at Tam briefly, before walking right up to the biobed and examining the patient. He looked over all of the different scanners and reached out with his hand, manipulating the controls on a couple of them. He worked in silence for a few minutes, ignoring the cadet until he’d gotten the information that he wanted. “Excuse me sir,” Tam said finally, unable to restraint herself any longer. “May I ask you a question?” “Certainly cadet,” Sevlock replied in his signature Vulcan monotone. He didn’t glance at her, but rather kept his focus on the readouts that the biobed scanners were generating. “This is not a boot camp – you are at liberty to question as you wish.” “Why did you assign me this simulation?” she asked. “I’m re-training for psychology; surely there must be a better one available for me?” “Better is an illogical choice of words Cadet,” Sevlock replied, sounding like he was bored with the discussion but actually just being his usual unemotional self. “It is a relative term that varies as the person that uses it.” “A more appropriate one related to my field of retraining then,” Tam suggested. “You have not experienced the full simulation yet Cadet,” Sevlock reminded her. “You may find yet that this simulation is indeed appropriate for your field of retraining.” “I see,” Niala answered, although really she wasn’t any clearer on things than when she’d started the conversation with her question. She decided that she wasn’t going to ask another question and silently wondered how this kind of a simulation could possibly more appropriate for her psychological training. If she didn’t know better, she might have thought that Sevlock was joking. But based on what she’d seen of her junior ACT instructor so far, she wasn’t sure he even knew how to joke about things. “Your performance on this level of the simulation was impressive,” Sevlock announced finally, after collecting all the data that he was after. “According to your Starfleet records, you have done a similar one in the past, so your senior instructor and I expected nothing less.” “Thank you sir,” Tam replied, after a moment of silence passed between instructor and student. “When does the next level start?” “As soon as I leave the immediate area,” the Vulcan/Human hybrid replied, before turning and walking away. “Good luck Cadet,” he added over his shoulder as the room grew dark once more and the eerie piercing sounds of red alert filtered back into the Bajoran’s ears. A sudden hand on her arm drew her attention back to the man, who was shivering as before, but conscious and gripping her arm in a vice-like grip. Her eyes traveled along his form and quickly discovered what the new element in this level was. His lower left leg was injured…badly. It hung from his knee by just a couple of tendons and the combination of hypothermia and the shock from his injury was clearly starting to take its toll. ============ NRPG: Okie doke, there’s level two for you to work on Bethany. If you get to the end of solving it and find that you’ve still got some more post that needs to be written, feel free to go ahead and handle the instructors’ response to Tam’s handling of level 2. Just be sure to leave the description of level 3 to either myself or Alix =) Alix -> Hope that works for you. PS: Don’t send NRPGs to the moderator. Your junior instructor just did it by accident and it ain’t cool ;) ============ ========== V. Rahul Chandra <vrccan_at_gmail.com> Playing...
