“Phase 2”

Con’t from Leigh’s “A Little Gravity Please”

========

Location: SFA

Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0422.2243

Scene: Holodeck (Simulated Engineering Section)

Sevlock quietly made his way over to Halois as the cadets continued to work
on restoring more of the systems that were currently down. For her part the
senior ACT instructor was wearing a small smile on her face at the progress
that the two cadets had been making and she continued to watch them work
with that same smile on her face.

**Beings that experience emotions are quite curious,** the hybrid thought to
himself. In spite of half his genes being human the junior ACT instructor
had effectively managed to suppress his emotions in the best traditions of
half of his heritage and while he did not always understand what drove a
specific person to display a specific emotion he had learned to deal with
emotional beings and in certain situations even to respect some of the good
points of emotions.

Out loud he simply cleared his throat, announcing his presence to his
superior. She turned her head and grinned over at him. This wasn’t the
first time the two instructors had worked together on an ACT class and both
had learned to work well with each other over time.

“What’s your take Lieutenant?” Etallia asked.

“Both of the cadets appear to have handled the first level of the situation
quite admirably,” Sevlock replied in his typical Vulcan monologue. “It
would be logical to assume that they will be able to complete the rest of
the repairs without much difficulty and therefore it would also be logical
to move ahead to the second phase of the training now rather than waiting
and wasting their time.”

The senior instructor thought about this for a moment before nodding her
head slightly. “That sounds reasonable,” she said agreeably, looking over
at the Vulcan. “You may instruct the computer to start the second phase of
the training.”

Sevlock inclined his head slightly. “Computer,” he said calmly. “Please
begin the second phase of the training.”

The two instructors had been conversing in low tones away from the area the
two cadets were working in and therefore the ACT candidates didn’t have any
warning of what was about to come. As Ginny was about to press a button on
the console in front of her a shrill klaxon sounded, startling both of the
cadets and causing them to exchange looks with each other before turning to
look back at their instructors. Before either Etallia or Sevlock could say
anything the deadpan voice of the computer was heard over the klaxon.

[[Power build up in warp core detected. Power flow approaching maximum
tolerance levels.]]

“The power will continue to build up unless you figure out a way to solve
the problem,” Sevlock commented as behind them the blast doors to the
engineering section began to slide shut.

[[Isolation counter-measures initiated,]] came the stoic voice of the
computer. [[Power build up in warp core detected. Power flow will exceed
maximum tolerance in seven minutes.]] As if to accentuate the point the
blast doors slid shut behind the four Starfleet members.

“You must find a way to halt the warp core breach and then find a way to
open the blast doors, which have jammed shut,” Halois added. “This is the
second phase of your training, good luck.”

=========

NRPG: Alright folks, here it is, the second phase of your training!

Basically, there’s a power build up happening in the warp core right now and
it is the goal of your characters to find a way to stop the core from
breaching. Secondly, the blast doors have jammed shut, so even if the warp
core breach is stopped your characters will still need to come up with a way
to get the doors open.

Same deal as the first time, we’re looking for a post from each of you, so
let’s see what ya got!
