"BEST FOOT FORWARDS"
(Continued from "TINKER, TINKER")
------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Starfleet Academy
Stardate: [2.7]0423.1601
Scene: Admissions Office
Thomas stood there amongst the sea of cadets that flowed in and out from the small confines of the admissions office. It had always amazed Thomas about the inefficient efficiency that all busy buildings employed believing that their way was the best way to do things. Examining the layout of the room he began making small mental notes of locations of certain items and other things that just wanted to stand out in his mind as something that may be important for a later date, but the only thing he didn’t notice was the rather meek and nervous cadet standing behind him.
Spinning softly in his steps Thomas stopped right before his body collided with that of the young girl who looked at him almost seemingly terrified. Giving a soft smile he nodded to her, but only received the smallest of blinks as a response. Never being one to remain silent when someone seemed uncomfortable Thomas smiled softly, “Hi, what are you in for?”
The girl jerked slightly looking up from the startling effects of a voice directed to her person. In a soft voice barely audible above the loud den of others conversing and discussing topics of various arrays she replied, “Excuse me?”
“What is your area of study,” Thomas smiled asking her once again as she seemed to nod and relax slightly.
The young girl seemingly bursting with pride now, in one of the quickest emotion switches that Thomas had ever seen proudly stated, “Science, well specifically exobiology.”
Nodding his head slowly Thomas found that his eyes wandered as an unusual species of cadet walked into the door. In unusual, it was rare to see a cadet that walked and stood straight as if he knew exactly where he was going. This and only this lead Thomas to believe he had been here for more than a year which would explain the familiarity with the entire process.
Turning to continue the conversation Thomas stopped as his mouth opened just as his name was called. Turning he smiled and nodded making it known that he was here before bidding his nice to meet you and farewells to the young cadet. As he readjusted the pack upon his shoulder he made his way over to the man waiting for him and then onto his dorm room.

By now Thomas had had time to find his dorm room and place his personal items in places that he thought suited them and suited him. Turning around he nodded before the data screen in his room began to beep displaying that there was a message for him. Opening the message he smiled as the text filed across the screen before the entire message was loaded.
Reading over the orders slowly he nodded before stretching his arms and hands to the ceiling and breathing in. “Looks like I have eager instructors,” Thomas said with a smile turning and making his way over to the bed sitting down. Thinking over what the events of the training will be he snapped out of his day dream as a very real and very important self note popped into his head.
Jumping to his feet he moved over and began franticly pressing the console interface opening a communications channel to that of his parents. As the image of Starfleet appeared upon the screen then disappeared being replaced by his father Thomas smiled, “I made it dad.”
The man who was wearing the teal uniform of a science officer smiled and nodded before being joined by a woman close to his own age. Standing there looking at the picture of his parents Thomas couldn’t help but smile before the conversation and questions ensued, as if this was a small interrogation of sorts.
“So son, have a girlfriend yet?” the man asked getting shocked and piercing look from his wife.
“Louis! Leave him alone let him tell us of his first day,” Thomas’ mother, Amber, exclaimed.
As the conversation lasted for several minutes Thomas tried to calm down his mother who had become over taken with tears as he son began to wrap up his discussion. After a heart felt goodbye, which would have stirred a speck the emotional dust in any Vulcan’s heart Thomas closed the communications channel before preparing himself for bed.

Time Index: 0845 hours
Thomas briskly walked down the corridors and hallways of the building making sure that he followed the instructions given by the helpful woman behind the desk that he had found. Turning a corner he sighed in relief of the sight of what he knew had to be the holodeck before walking up to the doors nodding to himself. “Now, the worst part, waiting,” he said before standing there trying to prevent himself from leaning against the corridor walls.

NRPG: Well, its official at least I hope it is. That’s my first post and here’s hoping that it meets the standards that are needed.
