"THE PROOF"
(Continued from "The Bitterest Pill")
---------------------------------------------------
Location: Starfleet Academy
Stardate: [2.7]0427.1654
Scene: Cadet Varn's Dormitory
Thomas had walked down the hallways his head running over the possibilities of what he had done wrong. He knew that the entire attempt should have worked without any complications. Sitting on the bed he slowly put his hands upon his forehead before stringing his fingers through his hair slamming his fists into the top of his knees. He just didn't understand it and how it could have gone wrong he did everything by the book when needed and from what he had learned.
"A *new* cadet could have pulled that off!" he shouted as he stood up throwing his arms down. Walking around his dorm room he stared at the computer console before thinking to himself, "It just doesn't make any sense to me, a computer," he stopped slowly before tilting his head sideways, "never lies."
As he straightened himself up out of the slump that he was in he turned around on his heel before straightening the uniform and his hair, "A computer *never* lies, and according to the sheer physics of it all that should have worked." It was at this moment that Thomas began to devise a way to check the very details of that holodeck simulation.

Thomas slowly and cautiously walked down the corridor, his senses seeming to be arched up on their max as the threat of him being caught was great. It was funny when he thought about it, but instead of being nervous Thomas was making very old and stupid jokes in his head. "So a Klingon carrying a Tribble, and a Bolian walk into a bar," his voice said softly as he stopped before slowly sticking his head around the corner.
It was at this moment that unfortunately for Thomas a very old and very unique song only befitting the moment, **secret agent man, secret agent man.** It was all that Thomas could do to control the very laughter he had caused to well up as his only type of defense mechanism came into play. As he made the turn a mischievous and relieved smile formed across his lips as there was no soul in sight and only one more turn before he was outside holodeck one.

Unknown to Petty Officer Stahl he was filling the very theory of every detective in any great murder mystery novel by returning to the very scene of his crime. For some reason not many people could ramble and try to destroy things without a sense of paranoia the following day making them feel as if someone may have discovered their deed and ruined the fun they would have had. Pulling out the same bynar circuit scrambler that he had used before, he checked the parameters of the holodeck simulation for the flight course.
His ego got the better of himself as he began reading over the data produced by Thomas' run. As the information began to detail the tactics used by Thomas during the program he smiled and shook his head, "Nice try cadet and it should have worked, but unfortunately for you I stepped in and will continue to do so for as long as I can with other cadets." Slipping the device back into his pocket Stahl looks around making sure no one is there before heading off at a normal pace.
It was at this time that Thomas rounded the last corner his eyes narrowed as he watched the officer disappear around another. He didn't know what he did to the program but he was at the corner long enough to hear the small monologue like conversation. Slowly walking to the console Thomas accessed the data before reading over his program run, "Computer what would the probable grade outcome of the course be when the maneuver given by Cadet Thomas Varn?" [[Probable outcome would be a sufficient for cadet to complete course.]]
This was unacceptable to Thomas as he quickly spun around his eyes filling with frustration over what had been done to him. "I was *cheated*!" He said trying to refrain from shouting in the empty corridor that would surely send a nice echo through its hallways.

Scene: Lt. Heath Carr's Residence
Time Index: One Minute Later
[[ Cadet Varn to Lt. Carr, Sir I request your presence at Holodeck One,]] Thomas said with a evident not of anger in his voice.
"Cadet Lieutenant Arn already told you that there are no second chances," the tired and now easily frustrated man began to say into the commbadge he had retrieved from his table by his bed.
[[ I'm *not* asking for a second chance sir, but if you don't get down here then you have failed as an instructor,]] Thomas said closing the channel before opening another.

Time Index: One Minute Later
[[ Cadet Varn to Lt. Arn, Sir you need to come to Holodeck One,]] Thomas stated expecting the same resistance as before, [[ and no Sir I’m not asking for a second chance and I’m just saying that if you don't get here I will come and retrieve you if need be!]] With that Thomas closed the comm channel.

Time Index: Thirty-Seconds Later
Thomas moved his fingers across the console activating the training program, setting it up to begin and launch the shuttle just as he did before releasing helm control upon entering the asteroid field, before the doors to the holodeck opened. Stepping in he looked around at the familiar and now bitter scenery. Nodding as he looked around he made his way to hide himself while thinking whether or not this would work. "Computer begin program once both Lieutenant Arn and Carr have entered," he said sitting down in an excluded corner waiting.

Scene: Outside Holodeck One
Time Index: Fifteen Minutes Later
Both Lieutenant Arn and Carr had arrived rather annoyed and perplexed by the persistence of this cadet. Both had prepared a little talk to the young man once they managed to get their hands around him. Almost surprised given each other a look as if to say I should have known he'd contact you they just shook their heads before entering the program starting it.
From his spot Thomas waited before they made their way to the cockpit to find it empty.
Feeling the runabout moving he stood slowly making his way to the section hiding behind a section of wall near the transporter. Watching he hoped that the instructors would indulge him, by taking control of the simulation as their curiosity hopefully would take control.
As the wormhole scenery disappeared and the asteroid field materialized the shuttle became violent as the simulation became to rough as the autopilot was removed. Watching from his spot he waited before one of the men took the helm and began to move around the field much in the manner as Thomas did. Upon seeing the giant asteroid that made its presence known he smiled as Lieutenant Arn requested the same situation as he did before. Moving the shuttle to avoid the asteroid just as Thomas had planned the situation turned grim. As the scenery changed back into the familiar grid Thomas stood there as the instructors were dumb founded.
"I told you it should have worked," he said taking in a deep breath, "I *should* have worked."

NRPG: I hope this is satisfactory.
