“Primary Report

Con’t from Joy’s “Dancing in the Street”

========

Location: USS STARBLAZER

Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0308.1701

Scene: Sickbay -> Corridor -> Turbolift -> Bridge

[[Roke to Sickbay,]] the voice of his mission assistant distracted Jeff from
the PADD he’d been working on and he tapped his comm. badge in order to
receive the signal. Jeff had stayed behind and let Dr. Roke go on the away
team at the younger man’s request.

“Sickbay here, what is it Doctor?” Jeff asked.

[[We’ve made initial contact with the local population and I’ve assembled a
very preliminary report on their physiology and medical technologies. The
only thing is that most of them want to celebrate the first contact today,
so any real investigative work will have to wait until tomorrow.]]

“That’s perfectly alright Lieutenant,” Jeff said. “Just upload what you’ve
got so far and you can do a more complete report later.”

[[Are you sure? I can perhaps convince them to do otherwise…]]

Jeff chuckled. “I’m serious Roke, don’t worry about it! Just go have fun.”

[[Aye sir, Roke out.]] the man’s voice flashed off the comm. system and Jeff
couldn’t suppress a smile as he waited for the information to upload to his
terminal. Roke acted as self conscious about his work as Jeff had when he’d
originally broke into the academy.

But that was a long time ago.

The information finished uploading to his terminal quickly and Jeff scanned
it with a trained eye, noting that Roke hadn’t been kidding when he said
there wasn’t a whole lot of information.

Downloading the information onto a PADD, Jeff got up and walked out into the
corridor, walking quickly towards the turbolift and entering it, calling out
his destination as the bridge. As the lift swiftly took him towards his
destination, he quickly gave the report from Roke the once over, nothing
that there wasn’t much above what they’d already been given by the initial
contact crew.

Jeff emerged out onto the bridge, quickly walking over to Kat and sliding
into the seat next to her.

“Here’s the preliminary medical report,” he said, handing the PADD to his
wife.

Kat briefly scanned it, before looking across at him quizzically. “This
isn’t much more than we had before,” she observed.

“No it isn’t,” Jeff agreed. “But it looks like none of the locals are keen
on doing any work until the morning.”

Kat chuckled. “I heard,” she said, looking down at the PADD that her
husband had handed her. “So, when are we going down to the planet?”

Jeff shrugged. “Well, Lieutenant Roke seems to be doing a fine job of
handling himself down there,” he said. “I have to say I’m kind of enjoying
not having to do any of the leg work this time around.”

“You’re getting lazy in your old age,” Kat teased.

Jeff laughed and winked. “Well, we all need to get old sometime,” he said.
“Personally, I wouldn’t mind not having to run around on away teams
anymore.”

“Yeah right,” Kat replied. “You would go insane with a desk job. You need
to be active and on the front lines, just like I do.”

“Maybe,” Jeff said, considering her words. “Maybe.”
