“Paranoia” (Cont’d from Rahul’s “getting down to work”) Location: TELLESIA IV Scene: Outside -> First Governors office Stardate: 2.70326.1356 It was still early morning on the forth planet in the Tel system, the sun had chased away the major moon, Gene stood in the entrance to the building that had housed the Starfleet officers for the night, he relished the rays as they beat against his face and half wished he didn’t need to be so formally attired. Still it was always nice to be planet side after months of sitting on the city sized space station. His wife appeared next to him she hooked her arm through his and followed his gaze into the sky. “Should we still be able to see the moon?” she asked quietly as she noticed the large white disk. “That’s not the moon, I’m guessing they’ve designated it either Tellesia 3 or 5.” “That’s close for a planet.” Xana commented. Gene nodded in agreement and then realised his wife had taken a step away he averted his eyes to find the third governor of Tellesian smiling that strange lipless smile of his. Gene smiled back and then shook the man’s hand. “The first governor will see you now.” He offered and then glanced about, “have your colleagues already left?” The XO of the GATEWAY nodded, “they have, a member of the government took each of them to their opposite numbers on the planet an hour or so ago.” He offered the information easily. “So you will have a thorough report on our medicine, our security and our engineering accomplishments by the end of the day?” Gene smiled slightly, “that’s the hope, although it’s not too necessary to be thorough a rough indication of your civilisation and where you may fit into the federation should be enough.” He answered. “I on the other hand am going to need lots of information.” Xana offered with a smile. The tall Tellesian blinked and Xana noticed the sideways shutters for the first time, and instantly was put in mind of a snake, her smile didn’t falter though as the governor nodded, “well let me take you to the first governor then.” They moved through the city Xana’s eyes taking in the streets and waterways, she paused briefly as she saw one being used for the first time, a water Tellesian swam through the flooded pipe way, it looked at her and nodded it’s head, facially it looked like it’s land companion although no mouth was visible. Gills along the side of its face moved in and out slowly as it hovered looking back at her black eyes stared out at her. It’s body looked more like that of a fish with fins and flukes, it’s tail twitched slightly holding itself in position **Morning.** it greeted her and then flicked a tail and was gone. Xana gasped slightly and touched her forehead the thought still echoed there. She had nothing against telepaths but that had been unexpected. She turned realising her party had moved on eilean raised an eyebrow the Xenexian still performing her job and standing near to her boss. “did he say morning to you?” Xana asked her friend as they hurried after their guide. “I wasn’t even sure it was a he,” Eilean answered, “how would you tell?” Xana glared at her friend who was grinning in amusement as they reached the two men, they where stood outside the government building and Governor quickly ushered them up stairs and into a small ante chamber like waiting room. =[/\]= Location: USS STARBLAZER Scene: Bridge TI: about the same time The bridge was silent most of the stations were powered down as they weren’t needed with so many of the officers on the planet. J’kaor was on bridge duty the engineer was settled into the engineering console running diagnostics on the engines and the ship while it was in dock. “How we doing?” Kat asked breaking the silence and disturbing the young Klingon. “Well considering we’re in a ship that should have been mothballed years ago we’re doing OK.” She answered sarcastically. “Everything’s working as normal.” She confirmed when she saw the look on her CO’s face. Kat nodded slightly. “I can always apply for a refit if you think that’d help?” “A new ship would be good.” JK answered and then shrugged, “either that or we should be allowed to play with the slipstream engines.” Katlina laughed at her aCEO. “You just want to make it go fast.” “Sure, we’re in a fast ship, sadly if we opened her up she’d probably fall apart.” The Klingon sighed and then glanced up as something on Kat’s armrest beeped. “Oooh. Incoming message.” The CO informed as she pressed a button to allow the big screen to show a Tellesian. [[Commander Gorman, I’m Officer Javan commander of the moon you’re docked on.]] Kat nodded, “Good afternoon Officer, is something wrong?” [[No, nothing is wrong.]] He blinked and smiled [[I would, however, like to extend the hospitality of our moon with you and your crew that has remained on your ship, we have some high quality facilities here and you’re welcome to come across and enjoy them.]] Kat glanced sideways at her aCEO. “We may very well take you up on that Commander, however, at the moment we are waiting for a report from the surface and are undergoing some diagnostics, once those are finished it will be a pleasure to allow some of my crew over to see you.” The Officer smiled and then bowed slightly, [[our door is always open.]] The CO nodded and smiled back. “We’ll be in touch,” She closed the link down and glanced at JK who’d turned around to witness the exchange. “You know I’ve just finished the diagnostics.” Kat nodded. “Don’t tell anyone about that offer.” She advised and stood up. “Shout me when one of the away team calls in will you?” J’kaor nodded although looked slightly confused she watched as the CO left the bridge and then routed everything into the big chair she exchanged her own seat for the slightly more comfortable centre seat. =[/\]= Location: Tellesia IV Scene: Security Facilities. The main security facility was outside of the capital city. Ensign Hannibal O’Patterson sat in the back of a small hover vehicle; it skimmed the surface of the trees and was open topped. The hybrid was sat next to his guide although around him were six security goons, each looked slightly blank and were the land bound version of the Tellesians. Hannibal caught hold of the pole next to him as the vehicle got caught in a particularly nasty cross wind causing the pilot to swear loudly at the control panel, only a few moments later the craft was landing gracefully in a clearing in the forest. It touched down and the security guys piled out and disappeared leaving Hannibal with his guide. The young woman smiled slightly and nodded towards a hatchway in the ground. “The security facility is a bunker. It’s also designed as an area of safety should we face an attack.” Hannibal nodded, “lead on then.” He told her looking about himself, nothing was particularly noteworthy about the area it was a good site deep in the forest no signs of civilisation, he entered the hatch and it clanged closed behind him. The dull lighting was bright enough to show the way but nothing compared to the bright day light of outside. They stepped into a lift. “One.” His guide ordered the lift had voice recognition as it beeped and slowly began to descend. “How many floors are there?” Hannibal asked “Oh the facility goes very deep down.” His guide answered almost evasively. “It needs to be deep to offer protection from any air attacks.” “Is an air attack likely?” He asked quickly. His guide shrugged her shoulders. “It was a consideration when we first found warp. It is always best to be prepared.” She pointed out. The lift doors opened onto a man made corridor of metal Hannibal found himself following along behind his guide past many doors that remained steadfastly locked, any comment or question about the doors where evaded. Eventually they stopped before a door, his guide pressed her palm to a device by the side and the two stepped through as the door slid open. The space before him was large beeping lights could be seen around the walls on consoles, every console had one of the aliens sat in front of it. In front of them on a large screen was a map of the space surrounding the planet. His guide smiled at him, “so where would you like to start?” =[/\]= Location: USS STARBLAZER Scene: Sickbay Commander Jeffrey Gorman sat behind his desk on the floor next to him in a playpen was the daughter of two of his friends, Dahlia Bonviva-McInnis sat chewing on a top staring up at him Jeff very calmly ignored the little girl as he finished working on one PADD. “She wants you to pick her up.” He smiled as his wife stepped into his office and sat across the desk in front of him. “She’ll have to wait.” Jeff answered. Kat grinned slightly, “You know this is a good arrangement, you’ll have to bring the twins to work with you when you’re on the station.” Finally the CMO glanced up. “On the station we’re not short of babysitters.” He answered and then returned to his work. The CO of the GATEWAY shrugged and leaned around the desk to pull tongues at Dahlia. The little human/Bajoran/Bolian hybrid instantly pulled tongues back. “Xana will kill you.” “Nah she’ll just get her own back.” Kat answered chuckling at her goddaughter. “So what’s up?” Jeff asked finally looking up and raising an eyebrow in question. “Can I not want to come and see my husband?” She shrugged her shoulders. “Actually I’m worried and I’m not sure why. I’m just getting a bad feeling.” Jeff placed the PADD down carefully. “The away team have reported in?” “Yes they’re all alive and well and going to their respective sites this morning, they’re next reports are due in a couple of hours and it sounds like they’re on schedule. It’s not that.” Jeff calmly waited for his wife to articulate what was worrying her. “We’ve just been invited into the structure on the moon while we’re waiting on the away team, I’m not sure why but it just feels to me like they’re trying to get us off the ship.” Dr Gorman smiled slightly. “You’re probably being paranoid, they’re just being sociable.” Kat nodded her head, “I know,” she agreed “Even so can you take a team onto the moon later on? Take JK and a couple of crew preferably security officers keep them on alert, lets be friendly but not let our guard down.” Jeff nodded, “what about Dahlia.” Kat glanced at the little girl who was practising pulling tongues at her doll and smiled. “I’ll find her a babysitter while you’re gone.” The CMO looked at the pile of PADDs on his desk and sighed, “and here I was hoping I’d be able to catch up on my paperwork.” Kat laughed and shook her head, “no rest for the wicked,” she stood up and stretched, “try not to be gone too long.” He smiled slightly at what was obviously paranoia. “I’ll get a team together.” He promised her. ** NRPG: Sorry for my silence it’s been a bit hectic RL Anyway enjoy the post and I’ll get around to the other characters when I get a minute.
