========== “Away Team” Con’t from Joy’s “Paranoia” ========== Location: USS STARBLAZER Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0402.1652 Scene: Transporter Room 1 The away team was assembled within the transporter room and Jeff was at the head of it. Along with him was J’Kaor and Ensigns Murphy and Johnson; two of the security officers that had been stationed aboard the STARBLAZER. The four were currently doing inventory on the equipment they planned to take down to the MOON with them. “Don’t make any sudden movements to anything on your belt,” Jeff advised the two security officers that would be accompanying them onto the trip. “Always keep in mind that our first goal is to make friends with these people, but Commander Gorman wants us to make sure we’re on our guard just in case there’s something here we’ve missed.” “Yes sir,” both security officers answered in unison. Jeff smiled slightly. “Alright, let’s go,” he said, stepping up onto the transporter pad after everyone else had. “Do you think they are hiding something?” J’Kaor asked him in her gruff Klingon manner. “Personally, no,” Jeff said before shrugging. “But I’ve learned through years of experience to take Kat’s hunches seriously.” He caught the woman giving him a look and grinned. “Long story regarding a few previous missions,” he said. “Remind me after this is over and I’ll tell you the full story.” ============= Location: TELLESIA IV Scene: Records Room “Wow, there sure is a lot of stuff here,” Lt. Roke said as he stared around the room in awe. He’d been working for a few hours and had barely managed to scratch the surface of their medical database. It gave him new respect for the paperwork generated by running a planet for the first time he began to wonder if volunteering to go on this away team wasn’t as great an idea as he was originally thinking. “This room contains all of the historical and modern medical database entries for our planet,” Dr. Orohi informed him. “Naturally one would expect it to be rather large.” “No kidding,” Roke muttered, looking at the stack of PADDs in front of him with a sigh. “Just give me a few moments to get the notes I’ve taken collated and we’ll get back to it.” “I actually am due away at another appointment,” Orohi informed him. “If you wish you may accompany me or stay here.” “If you don’t mind, I’d like to stay here,” Roke replied. “Certainly doctor,” Orohi said amiably. “I shall return as soon as I can.” =========== Location: MOON Scene: Transport Area The away team materialized on the surface of the moon and saw that a welcoming party of three had been sent out to welcome them. “Welcome to our moon,” the lead alien said, bowing slightly. “I am Officer Javan; I believe I spoke to your Commander earlier.” “Yes you did,” Jeff nodded. “My name is Jeffrey Gorman. I am the Chief Medical Officer on board the starship.” He went on to introduce J’Kaor and the two security officers. “We’re very grateful and appreciative of your generous hospitality,” he added diplomatically. Javan bowed slightly again. “It is nothing,” he answered. “If you would like to come with me I will show you the full facilities of this place; your other officers may go with my assistants if they wish.” Jeff nodded. “That will be fine,” he said and just before walking off he exchanged a glance with J’Kaor, who nodded at him and indicated that she’d be on guard. ========= NRPG: Haven’t really been struck by inspiration recently, I’ll continue this in a few days time. ========= ========== V.
