Location: GS-2

Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0529.1430

Scene: Vedek Dawan's Quarters

"No doubt about it," Jeff said, standing and walking over to the GATEWAY's
Commanding Officer. "Same precise skinning cuts, same killing methodology.
This is the second scalp of our killer alright." As he was reporting to the
Captain, he had been nonchalantly using a cloth to wipe the blood from his
hands.

"Is there anything that stands out medically about this scene?" Kane asked,
still feeling slightly queasy as he watched the doctor finish wiping his
hands clean.

"A few things that I noticed stood out in comparison to the first murder,"
Gorman answered, unaware of the effect he was having on his superior
officer. "Here, let me show you." Jeff crouched down next to the body,
Kane following suit albeit at a much slower pace.

Jeff proceeded to briefly outline the case for Kane, who quickly came to
understand that most of the differences were so minor as to not be that
noteworthy to begin with; at least from the medical point of view.

"Is there anything you think could help trace the killer?" the Captain
interrupted after it seemed like Jeff was going to go on with his boring
report forever.

"There's one thing," Jeff answered with a nod, pointing to the wall in front
of them. The words THE END TIMES ARE HERE were clearly visible to them both
in thick block letters where Jeff was pointing. "Preliminary scans show the
obvious; namely that this was done with the Vedek's blood."

"That doesn't seem like a particularly helpful fact Doctor," Kane answered
tersely.

Jeff, not one to be hurried when he was giving an analysis, continued. "Not
on the outside, but as I said those were the preliminary scans. I've sent a
blood sample to our medical lab in the hopes that perhaps trace elements of
a second blood source might be present, but it would have to be a very small
trace since it was not picked up by the medical tricorder."

"Is it possible you might find a second source?" Kane asked.

"It's not very probable," Jeff admitted. "But it's possible. If there had
been a struggle, or if the killer had accidentally cut himself, then there
might be traces of his blood in those scrawlings. I made sure to
incorporate blood from all over the writing in my sample, so if it's there
the computer will find it."

"Does this look like a struggle?" Kane asked.

"On the face of it, I would say no," Jeff answered. "It looks like the
first crime; victim taken unawares. Of course, the skinning might have
removed what signs of a struggle there were, so it's difficult to tell with
this much mutilation."

"Understood," Kane said, standing up. "Keep me informed of your progress."

"Yes sir," Jeff answered, before turning and heading for the door. He
practically collided with Hannibal as the security chief was making his way
in.

"The scene's all yours," Jeff said to the GATEWAY's Chief of Security,
before turning around and making his way back down the corridor.

NRPG: Just moving things along a bit. I didn't write too much because I
didn't want to intrude on posts that others might potentially be writing.
