========== "Number Three" Con't from Joy's "Serial Killer" ========== Location: GS-2 Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0604.1338 Scene: Crime Scene "This is starting to get ridiculous," Jeff muttered to himself, as he and Hannibal looked over the body of the third unfortunate soul to be killed by the person the media were now calling The Reaper. "And blatant," Hannibal added, having overheard the comment the doctor had made. "I'm no medical expert, but I think this one's been skinned more." "I think you're right," Jeff agreed, leaning down and starting to do his examination. Hannibal watched the doctor work for a few moments, stifling a yawn in the process. "I have people to question," Hannibal announced, before turning on his heel and heading back out into the area where people had been gathered. Jeff, having done this twice in the very recent past, quickly went through his examination of the victim and the premises, collecting a number of samples that he thought might be helpful for scanning later. ========== Time Index: 15 minutes later Scene: Gorman Quarters Jeff entered the quarters, stifling a yawn as he did so. Things were dark for the most part and catching a glance at the wall chronometer, he understood why. It was pretty late; much later than he could remember getting off work recently. "That's what happens when three murders happen right under our noses," he muttered to himself, attempting to navigate through the room in the dark without slamming into anything. Being reasonably familiar with the layout of the family room, he was successful and in doing so noticed a light coming from underneath the door leading to the master bedroom. He poked his head in and noticed his wife still sitting up in bed reading a book. He gave her a tired smile, before walking across the room towards the bathroom and briefly washing his face. "How was your day?" Kat asked, as Jeff finished and appeared back in the bedroom. Jeff chuckled mirthlessly. "Our killer friend's getting bolder," he said. "This time the skinning was much worse." "I know," Kat answered quietly. "He took pictures this time." "He did?" Jeff was surprised at that revelation. Kat quickly filled him in on what she had seen earlier that day and he ended up shaking his head slightly. "Well, I took every sample from the body and the surrounding scene I could think of," he said. "And they're all being processed by the lab tonight. I need to be there bright and early tomorrow to see if the results give us anything tangible to go on, but for the moment there's nothing more to be done." ============ Time Index: Simultaneously Scene: Promenade Commander Eugene McInnis, the head counsellor of the Starfleet forces on GATEWAY, was slowly making his way down the promenade. Like many of the other senior staff, his own day had been particularly difficult. In addition to the work with Nick, there were also a slew of other emergency cases that had been laid at his door in response to the third murder. He sighed to himself as he continued his way through the crowds that still littered the promenade and just as he was about to head for one of the exit corridors, he bumped into another person. Gene was quick to apologize when he noticed with some surprise that it was a very flustered looking Ranjen Roh. Roh's face registered immediate relief when he saw who it was he'd bumped into. "Commander McInnis, thank the Prophets!" he breathed out loudly. "I must speak with you immediately." Gene looked at the normally calm Ranjen, curious. "What about?" he asked. Roh quickly looked around, before turning back to the counsellor and shaking his head. "I can not say here," he said. "I have some information, but I fear what might happen here in public." "Information about the killer?" Gene asked. "Please!" Roh begged earnestly, looking around him again with the expression of a frightened animal. "I have already risked much coming to you here. We must get out of sight first before we can discuss this further." "Do you have a place in mind?" McInnis asked, his own eyes sweeping around the promenade as he wondered what it was that was spooking Roh so much. "I do," the thin Bajoran man nodded. "Lead on then," Gene answered, falling into step beside him. =========== NRPG: Dun Dun Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun =========== Rahul Chandra <vrccan_at_gmail.com> Lieutenant Commander Jeffrey Gorman, MD Chief Medical Officer GS-2 From HyperNews_at_youth.net
