==[/\]== "Dark Things" Continued from Kenneth's "The Abyss" ==[/\]== Location: GATEWAY STATION Scene: Cannon's Quarters Time Index: 70513.2300 It was quiet, too quiet in fact. Normally music, a news feed, or some kind of white noise filled the quarters of the station's chief fighter pilot. On this day, there was no sound except said fighter pilot. Nick sat in the corner, his bare legs against his naked chest, held tightly by his arms (otherwise known as the fetal position). He stared blankly at the wall before him, soaking wet from sweat and the cold shower he had just taken. Cannon was completely unaware of the world around him as he watched the dark images in his head and heard the chorus of voices pound through his ears. Until that morning the images had seemed vague, foretelling a dark, dangerous, and devastating future ahead. The voices had been positive, telling him that he was fine and nothing would happen, but also foretelling the great evil that was ahead for the station and the quadrant. But suddenly the images had become much clearer. Or rather, a portion of them had. Nick watched through the eyes of another. He watched as one, two, and three Bajoran males of some great renown were slowly tortured, sliced, and murdered in cold blood. And he saw who the fourth victim was to be. He saw it all too clearly. The other images were still gray and vague, much less vivid, but much more foreboding. The images did not come with sound, rather he heard the continuing disconnected echoes of voices in his head. Some soothed him, some warned him, some challenged him, and some tormented him; but none was dominant. "Get out of my head," he screamed out to all the voices and images. But nothing changed other than the voices seeming to get louder. Having yelled out, Nick suddenly returned to the present, pulling himself somewhat out of the hypnotic state which he seemed to be constantly slipping into these days. Lieutenant Cannon stood, blinked, and banged his head against the wall. He could not shake it, he could not continue to fight it. Nick knew that he needed help, and set out to find it. ==[/\]== Scene: Back room of "Get Your Groove On Bar and Discotheque" "You hear things. You know people. I want to know everything and everyone you know that's involved with these killings," Xana said. "And I want to know it now." Some things never changed. She would deny him, and yet she always expected the world. It was as if she thought he could simply deliver the goods with a thought and a prayer. "I am afraid I know very little, my dear blue flower, but I will share with you the little that I know." "Then do it, do it now." Xana's voice grew deeper and louder with every breath. Zane Rixx felt the blade dig slightly into his neck. Clearly the disappearance of her mate was troubling her deeply, how disappointing. Rixx figured there was no reason to lie to the woman, she would likely kill him if he did, and he had no one or nothing to protect in this instance. "My sources and my people have only provided me with two even slightly useful pieces of information." The ambassador used her free hand to smack his forehead. "What are they?" The fat Bolian male felt his head throb slightly, but she was so very becoming when she got violent. "So aggressive my dear. First, I will tell you one thing and then you will remove that blade. Deal?" When he got no response beyond another slap on the head, he simply continued, "first, the three murdered are from a string of valley's on one particular continent on BAJOR. They all seem to have some distant familial connection to some religious figure from BAJOR's past known as the Proxy. Apparently he was some kind of supposed agent for the Prophets or some beings like them. Its not really clear." Bonviva almost dropped the blade. "What does this have to do with Gene?" Rixx glanced up. "Isn't the Tinuvel Valley along that same line?" She didn't answer but pressed on him again. "And what is the second thing?" He was disappointed in her response, but not surprised. "All the murders seem to be happening within a radius around the Bajoran temple. We do not know this for certain, but based on the blood and back room reports were hearing about, we think its reasonable to believe that the temple is involved.""Ludicrous." "Is it?" he asked, "the Vedek was murdered, maybe there is something to cover up?" ==[/\]== Scene: Gorman Quarters A bleary-eyed Kat Gorman waddled to the door, pushing the button to answer the chime that someone was pushing incessantly. As the doors parted with their whoosh of white noise, a very disturbed looking Nick Cannon entered. He wore only his athletic shorts, was wet with perspiration, and had tired eyes that moved quickly from side-to-side. "Nick, can I help you?" asked the pregnant XO. "He's near here, and he has another Bajoran." Cannon stared wild-eyed at Kat's belly. "They will be born into sorrow. I am sorry. We must stop it, or all will suffer." He continued to blather in strange phrases as Kat stepped back and hit her comm. "Security, I may need you in my quarters." "No! We must do something." He lunged at the pregnant woman as she cried out for Jeff or someone else. "The blue one seeks assistance amongst thieves and brigands, where she will find none. We must do something, for he has him, and the time is near." ==[/\]==NRPG: Thought I'd toss a few random factoids and one crazy pilot into the mix. Do what you will with it. ==[/\]== Steven Peterson ...writing for...
