"Oops"

Con't from Sarah's "Guided By a River of Blood"

=========

Location: GS-2

Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0616.0702

Scene: Sickbay

Rixx floated blissfully in the realm of unconsciousness for a very long
time, his eyes closed and his mind completely unaware of the circumstances
that were around him. His transport from the corridor to sickbay and the
subsequent work that was done on him went by in almost the blink of an eye.
Slowly but surely however, his mind did come back to consciousness and he
quickly opened his eyes and looked around, wondering where he was.

The colour scheme and decoration layout suggested that he was in one of the
more Starfleet controlled areas of the station and the instruments he could
see from his position on his back were medical in nature. It dawned on him
that he was probably in the station's sickbay and just as he had that
thought he saw one of the medical personnel loom over him.

"Welcome back," the man said; Rixx stared up at him, confused.

"What am I doing here?" he demanded.

"You were shot in the corridor," the man informed him bluntly. Rixx got the
feeling that the man didn't much like him, but considering that he had never
laid eyes on him before he wasn't entirely sure why.

"I was shot?"

"Yep," Rixx only now noticed that the man was wearing a Starfleet teal
collar; suggesting that he belonged to the medical staff of the ship. "You
were shot. Starfleet type II phaser set to one of the upper stun settings.
Normally, those don't cause any damage but you suffered a concussion when
your head hit the floor after being stunned. You'll feel out of touch
occasionally until the symptoms resolve themselves, but other than that you
appear to be none the worse for wear."

"I see." Rixx said, the memory of his shooting only now coming back to him.
"And who are you?"

"I'm Dr. Gorman; the Chief Medical Officer of the Starfleet medical forces
on this station," Jeff replied. He did a quick scan of the man, before
looking at the results and nodding to himself. "How do you feel Mr. Rixx?"

"I feel fine," Rixx answered haughtily. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I must
be getting back to my shop." he rose to a sitting position and Jeff
restrained him with a strong arm.

"Not so fast Mr. Rixx," he said. "There's someone that wants to talk to you
first." He turned from the biobed and walked over to Hannibal, who for his
own part was standing and tapping his foot impatiently.

"Go ahead," Jeff said. "He's medically fine to withstand interrogation."
He walked past Hannibal and towards his office and lowered himself into his
seat tiredly. Kat was sitting in the other seat, having contacted him after
Xana and Nick had done their disappearing act. While Jeff had been tending
to Rixx, Hannibal had been extracting the details of what had happened from
Kat.

"So." Jeff said, his voice equal parts frustration at how quickly the
situation had spiralled out of control, exasperation that it has gotten this
far and incredulity that they had very little to go on even at this point.
"Mind clueing me in on what the hell is going on?"
