Eishnala rubbed her neck as she examined the P.A.D.D. containing the
details of her conversation with the Station’s medical officer. The
problem was that there just wasn’t much to go on. While relatively
unobtainable on ANDARA, the components for a Plasma Bomb would be
relatively abundant on a large installation like GATEWAY. It further did
not help that the security chief was new to the job, so new that it was in
fact her first day. The Andorian woman didn’t know the station well enough
yet to know who had the organizational infrastructure to pull off an
assassination attempt on a leading planetary dignitary. One thing,
however, was clear: the only way to begin to narrow down the list of
possibilities was to get a good look at the device itself.

Though the new Security Chief didn’t know where to start with a list of
suspects, she did know where to begin from an investigative perspective.
“Computer, tell me who the lead science officer is investigating the
Andaran bombing?”

A mechanized female voice, ubiquitous across Starfleet’s ships and bases,
responded, “Lieutenant Yao.”

“And where can I find this officer?”

“Lieutenant Yao beamed down to the Andaran High Fane at 1300 hours.”

Eishnala nodded, “It’s a start.”

“Query not recognized,” the computer responded.

“Nothing. Nothing,” she said while thinking to herself **It will be a
wonderful day when they design a computer capable of recognizing when
someone is talking to themselves.**

The security officer touched the shinny combadge resting on her chest,
prompting a dull peep to resound from it, “Kor to Lieutenant Yao.”

Location: ANDARA
Scene: High Fane

Lieutenant Yao looked at the pillars for what must have been the thirtieth
time. **I wonder if the blast radius…**

The J’naii science officer crouched down, tricorder in hand, examining the
base of one of the pillars when an unknown voice sounded over her
combadge. Standing up, the genderless scientist placed a hand on her the
device that connected her and every other Starfleet member into a
communications and sensor web. “This is Lieutenant Yao. May I ask who I’m
addressing?” confusion rising in the officer’s voice.

[[Sorry, Lieutenant Yao. I haven’t had a chance to get introduced to most
of the GATEWAY’s senior officers yet. I’m Lieutenant Eishnala Kor, the
station’s new Security Chief,]] an understanding voice responded over the
comm.

“How can I help you, Lieutenant Kor?” the J’naii asked, now having context
for the call that had interrupted the teal-clad officer midtrain of
thought.

[[I was wondering if you and your people had found all of the bomb
components yet. There is some indication that they may have come from the
GATEWAY so its no longer an internal security concern.]]

“I’m sorry, we’ve only found about a third of them so far. The blast,
while causing surprisingly few deaths, was fairly powerful,” Lieutenant
Yao answered.

[[Do you mind if I bring a small team down to help expedite the search?
Even though the wormhole is closed, we have no idea on what side the bomb
maker might be from… so the quicker the process the less likely our
suspect will have a chance to leave the station,]] explained a disembodied
voice. Yao had never had to do introductions over a combadge before and
the scientist wasn’t completely sure it was something to be approved of.

Frowning, the Lieutenant thought for a moment…**All those people…** before
answering, “I’d prefer you kept the team on the smaller side to avoid
contaminating the scene.”

[[I was thinking the same thing. I’ll also try to assemble a group that
has some experience working scenes during the forensic process.]]

“I’d appreciate that. You’re going to have to get the CO’s permission to
come down because the area around the High Fane has been banned as a
transporter sight without Kane’s authorization.”

[[Thanks for the tip. Do you have any other things it would be helpful for
me to know?]]

Scene: High Fane
Time Index: Twenty Minutes Latter

Three columns of energy shimmered over on the plinth where ANDARA’s
principal governmental building resided, catching Lieutenant Yao’s
attention, prompting the J’naii to walk over to the beam down site.

Eishnala looked around, surveying the damage before the teal collar caught
her eye. “Lieutenant Yao?”

The scientist nodded as she looked up at the woman who stood at least a
head taller than her, however, Yao was getting used to being towered over
by far taller people during her time on the planet’s surface: “I take it
you’re Lieutenant Kor?”

It was Eishnala’s turn to nod before pointing to a woman standing on her
right, “This Ensign Ariel Mason.” The Andorian than indicated the woman
standing to her left, “And this Petty Officer Kinney. She has had some
experience working with forensic personnel. So…where do we begin? From
Security’s perspective, the bomb components are our main link to who ever
designed and installed the device, seeing as our only suspect died.”

NRPG:
It’s a little short.

Jasmina: Tag….I was also wondering if you had thought about inventing a
J’naii genderless pronoun. I know the feminist movement for awhile was
advocating the use of zhe.

Jerome: Do you mind sending me the information regarding plasma bombs as
well.
