=========== "Preparations" Con't from Jasmina's "The Scientist" =========== Location: GS-2 Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0712.1820 Scene: Sickbay "Goddamnit I had no idea we had so many PADDs on how to run the medical department," Jeff muttered to himself as he picked up the last stack of PADDs that he wanted to read through and proceeded to start reading through them. There really wasn't any reason to be that interested in every single medical protocol PADD available, but at the same time there wasn't any reason not to be interested in them either. "Got a moment?" Jeff looked up and nodded over at his assistant, idly skimming the PADDs as he listened to what the other man had to say. "We've got both teams in place," Roke answered. "They're all suited up and ready to go if anything should happen either on the surface of ANDARA or here on the station." "Sounds good," Jeff said with a nod of approval. He skimmed the next PADD before raising an eyebrow in interest. "I don't remember reading this PADD in a very long time?" "What's it say?" Roke asked, taking a seat in the chair across from Jeff's desk. "Well, the title of the PADD is 'relating to the continuity of medical practises on a Starfleet ship or institution in the event of a catastrophic emergency,'" Jeff read, before looking back up at Roke. "I would imagine a disappearing wormhole would qualify as a catastrophic emergency." "Sure," Roke agreed, nodding his head. "So, what's it say?" "Not much," Jeff said, reading down the PADD. "Just that Starfleet Medical personnel should liaise with other non-Starfleet medical personnel that are nearby in order to pool resources and form as safe a support network as possible." "There's a whole section on finding different ways to transform areas of a starship into makeshift medical areas," Jeff added with a roll of his eyes. "Basically, it says we're on our own to come up with a strategy." "Great," Roke answered with a chuckle and a shake of the head. "We literally have no help from home." "Wouldn't be the first time," Jeff muttered to himself. "Listen, this meeting's going to be in like 30 minutes; can I count on you to monitor both of the teams until I get back?" "Sure thing sir," Roke said, rising to his feet. "Do you want me to contact you if something happens up here?" "If it's something on the planet, don't bother; just dispatch the team," Jeff advised. He smiled grimly. "If it's something on the station, I'm sure I'll feel it before you get a chance to report it to me." Roke nodded. "Yeah, that's true enough," he admitted. ============ Time Index: 30 minutes later Scene: Conference Room Jeff had managed to procure the services of one of the conference rooms on the station and as he walked in he found that he was actually one of the last ones to arrive. This didn't sit well with him, as he was hoping to be there a little early. Evidently, everyone else had had the same idea and that had sunk Jeff's plan from the start. "Thank you all for coming," Jeff said, progressing to the head of the table. He was the one that had requested the conference and therefore he felt obligated to be the lead. "Here's the situation on this station as it stands for the moment." ======== NRPG: Just edging the medical sub plot forward a little bit. I'm muchly enjoying reading everyone's posts! ======== Rahul Chandra <vrccan_at_gmail.com> Lieutenant Commander Jeffrey Gorman, MD Chief Medical Officer GS-2 From HyperNews_at_youth.net
