========= “Dealing” Con’t from Shawn’s “Room for Debate” ========= Location: GS-2 Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 1117.1313 Scene: Sickbay Jeff stared down at the biobed containing the form of the out of control Vulcan CEO for a long time after Kane had made his exit from the sickbay. The form was constantly in motion and the screaming and moaning that had been coming from Salor even in spite of everything the Chief Medical Officer had done to try and sedate him was disturbing not only to Jeff, but to the rest of the sickbay staff as well. “Uh…sir?” Jeff turned to spy the form of his assistant, Alec Roke, looking down at the biobed uncertainly. “Is there anything else you can do to sedate him further? The noise is starting to affect the performance of the rest of the sickbay staff.” Jeff frowned, turning back to the biobed. “I’m open to suggestions, Doctor,” he said. “At this point, I’m not willing to risk upping the levels. I’m pretty sure you’d agree that inconveniencing the sickbay staff is better than killing the Chief Engineering Officer.” “I guess so,” Roke said. He looked down at Salor, shaking his head. “I had a chat with him not too long ago and he seemed fine.” Jeff nodded. “The onset of his symptoms was very quick. If I had to guess, I’d say it was a combination of the stress of the situation we’re in and the needling he got from Ensign Crichton. But further scans will show whether this was an extraordinary condition based on environmental concerns or whether we need to revise our understanding of this particular ailment.” Roke nodded in agreement, before looking around the room. “Speaking of which,” he said. “Where is the Ensign? Wasn’t he supposed to be here?” “No,” Jeff answered. “Salor showed up for his scan, at which point everything hit the fan as far as I’m concerned. I’d guess Kane dealt with Crichton, in his own way.” Roke asked a few more questions, with Jeff replied to with single phrase answers or mere grunts. Sensing that the CMO was thinking about something else entirely, Roke discreetly made his exit and left Jeff staring down at the biobed that contained the writhing and prone form of the Vulcan Chief Engineering Officer. Jeff stared at him for a long time, before finally shaking his head. “This makes no sense,” he said out loud, to nobody in particular. The more he thought about the situation, the less he liked about it. Having already had one defeat earlier in regards to containment of the changeling, Jeff was not about to allow something else to escape him; at least not if he could prevent it. Turning around, he walked over to where Roke was sitting. “Dr. Roke,” he said. “Drop everything; I’ve got a new assignment for you. Your first order of business is to get in contact with Ensign Crichton and obtain from him a detailed account of everything he can possibly remember of the encounters he had with Salor up to today. If he mentions names of other people that he saw talking with Salor, I want you to contact them and get their accounts as well. Is that clear?” “A complete history from multiple persons?” Roke asked unbelievingly. “And how many months do I have for this?” Jeff grinned. “A fraction of one,” he said. “I want everything you can get on my desk by this evening.” “And where will you be while I’m doing this?” Roke asked. “Reading a few textbooks,” Jeff replied, heading in the direction of his office. ========== NRPG: Shawn -> I’ve enjoyed reading your posts!
