¡§A change of uniform¡¨ (contd-¡§Invisible Enemy¡¨)

Location: GATEWAY Station
Scene: Space„³ commerce Module
Stardate: [2.7]1211.2227

The HONSHU had been included in the fleet primarily as
defense for the medical vessel with them, but for
another person at least she had another purpose.

The Nebula class vessels have a relativly large blind
spot on their rear, that is not to say they cannot see
things behind them but that there is a large space of
hull free of sensor pallets, phaser arrays and
windows. It was to this blind spot on the back of the
HONSHU that the FEREDIR DHINEN clung.

The dark, sensors baffled vessel literally hung down
the back of the much larger HONSHU held there by
magentic grabbling clamps and small tractor beams. An
unknown passenger with the fleet on their venture to
the GATEWAY.

Drake had kept them powered down and quiet in the
brief flurry of combat as the fleet dropped out of
transwarp. One lucky shot through the HONSHU¡¦s
shields could have wiped him fromt he face of the
universe, but stealth was his thing and stealthy he
was.

In the relative calm after the Dominion withdrew the
fleet moved to form a cordon of ships near the station
and it was from here that the FEREDIR DHINEN with
their single passenger finally moved.

It wasnt a simple matter of him flying in to one of
the docks on the Operations module, for a start moving
that close to the station someone probably would have
noticed him. So the dark shape moved smoothly to the
nearest empty dock on the closest station, as luck
would have it the commerce station.

The corridors here were relativly quiet and it was a
simple matter for Drake to slip past those people who
were in the corridors.

His destination was a particular blank bulkhead in a
cargo bay that was used by a compnay that was on the
pay roll of SFI. There were 2 particular things
behind this bulkhead, a small store of equipment which
Drake helped himself to and then a small covert
transporter. Standing on this last one he slid the
fake bulkhead back in to place before beaming to the
Operations module.

Location: Ops Module
Scene: corridor„³ Sickbay
Clearly the Operations module had suffered a little
more than the commerce module had and several times
Drake had to skirt around piles of debris. There were
the occasional creak as the superstructure shifted,
relaxing after the damage it had suffered.

GATEWAY was wounded, Drake could feel it almost like
it was a part of himself, even if he hadnt been
familiar with the station he would have felt it, but
he had been the Intelligence officer here, it had been
his business to know the place, and know it well.

By the time Drake stepped out in to the busier
corridors he had stopped and donned a loose shirt and
slacks over the top of his uniform. It wasnt an
obvious disguise but, with a quick messing up of his
already unruly hair he no longer looked a starfleet
officer but a tired civilian.

The space outside the sickbay was crowded with people
moving the injured about, and the bodies away. Slow
inexorably Drake made his way towards the sickbay.
There were a number of people he could do with seeing,
but one in particular he wanted to see first.
Especially as he already had a good idea what the
current situation was anyway.

Inside the immediatly saw the person he wanted, and
also someone he hadn¡¦t actually expected but was just
as happy to see.

Daisy and Kate were working with an astonishing
fluidity, the same fluidity Drake realised he worked
with when he was doing data analysis they were totally
in their element, totally focussed.

Daisy reached over behind her for a hypo, but
evidently it was further than she remembered, Drake
passed the hypo in to her reaching hand and she used
it, turning to thank whom she assumed waas one of the
nurses.

Her thanks died in her throat when she saw Drake.

¡§What.....¡¨

¡§Hi to you too.¡¨ Smiled Drake.

Daisy turned and finished talking to the woman she had
just been seeing to.
Drake waved and smiled at Kate who waved back, and
then he found himself in an embrace with Daisy.

¡§Where¡¦s Lara? Is the ship here?¡¨

Drake laughed, ¡§The STONEHENGE isnt here no, Lara and
Hex are still back there.¡¨

Daisy gave Drake a final squeeze meaning to turn back
to her work, but as she did so she noticed something.

Parting the top of his shirt carefully with her hand
she saw the black uniform underneath.

Her face said it all, but what ever it was she had to
say, there was no time, wounded still flooded in to
the sickbay.

¡§I have to get back to work, PATRIOT officers are up
in Ops, they are in charge, that¡¦s where you want to
go.¡¨

Drake, some of his good cheer now gone, nodded and
turned to leave.

Daisy called after him, ¡§Its nice to know you¡¦re
here Drake.¡¨

Scene: Operations

Maverick was still the one in charge in the station
Operations centre, several of his marines stood around
the place as well, many of them eyes the GATEWAY crew
warily.

Several of them spun, their weapons ready when they
were surprised by Drake.

Mav didn¡¦t even turn away from the central console
before he spoke.

¡§You know, if it isn¡¦t Lawrence, its you.¡¨

Drake didn¡¦t even smile. ¡§What can I say, we know
where we are needed.¡¨

NRPG: Wow, I am finally here ļ
