Location: GATEWAY STATION – 2
Scene: Flight Deck

	"Ambassador Bonviva, over here!"

aXana Bonviva turned around as she stepped out of the B-IX SOLSTICE,
her personal Bolian shuttlecraft, at some of the personnel that were
standing around. They were part of the news crews who had been left
behind and been reporting to the people of the station. The tall blue
woman stopped in her tracks and waited patiently for the crews to come
forward. "Yes?"

"Ma'am, people are wondering what happened when you were over on the
Dominion ship. How did they treat you? What did you discuss?" a
reporter asked while shoving a mic under her nose.

Stepping back slightly the former Ambassador turned candidate for
governor paused before smiling. "Obviously the Dominion treated me
well. As to what we discussed, it would be irresponsible for me to
announce that before the cameras before briefing Starfleet. Now if
you excuse me—"

With that aXana walked away from the cameras and up to the Security
Officers on duty. "Surely, gentlemen, you don't need me to go through
Customs, do you?" she smiled. "Or have you forgotten who I am
already?"

"No ma'am," Lt. Yo'shiz replied shaking his head.
"Welcome home to the GATEWAY."

Smiling and nodding her head aXana walked through the
Security checkpoint and onto the GATEWAY STATION.

Scene: Bonviva/McInnis Quarters

	"Xana, you're home!"

The Italian-born half-Bolian woman walked into her quarters and was
immediately the target of joyful whoops and outstretched arms of two
young boys and a toddler girl. Even the cat, who at most showed the
woman a barely passing interest, got up off her perch to come over.

The only one standing back was a large dog.

"Hey everyone!" she smiled with her arms wide open.

The kids rushed her, the cat meandered forward rubbing up against the
woman and it would have been – should have been -- a lovely tableau of
family and friendship.

Except the 100 pound black and tan German Shepherd/Rotweiller did
something completely out of character: he rushed past the kids,
effectively blocking them from going to the blue woman, growling and
bearing his teeth at her. Every time she moved he growled more,
taking a step closer to attacking her.

It was the first time in the six years that Angus had *ever* tried to
attack someone. The fact that it was his constant companion – his
mistress, the woman who had rescued him as a puppy from certain death,
was even more baffling.

"What's the matter, boy?" aXana cooed. Holding out her hands she
said, "Come here."

Angus continued to growl low in his throat and bear his teeth.

Peyton Svenson knew something was wrong, this was completely out of
character for the dog. Nodding at his brother the elder boy tried to
take control of things. "You know Xana, we haven't had a chance to
take Angus for a walk and he's probably all upset from being cooped
up."

Mikey Svenson had grabbed a large bright green leash and snapped it
on the dog who didn't resist it. "I think it's time for his run," the
younger boy piped up. "And maybe we'll get a dog biscuit for him
too."

"This isn't the homecoming I was expecting," the woman admitted.

Seeing Mikey had Angus on his leash, Peyton snatched up Dahlia over
her wiggles to go to her mother and backed out of the quarters. "It's
not the one we thought would happen either," Peyton admitted as they
ducked out of the quarters.

Scene: Corridor

Gene McInnis was walking down the corridor with Lt. Kor, discussing
Security procedures and restructuring in the wake what had happened
when he saw the Svenson boys walking with Dahlia and Angus. "Lt. Kor,
do you mind holding off for a moment…" he said trailing off as the
kids came running towards them.

The Andorian Sec/Tac nodded at that and was about to excuse herself
when suddenly she was surrounded by the children and the massive dog.
Although they spoke quickly, what they said perked her interest and
instead of being polite she decided to stay and listen off to the
side.

"Mac, you gotta come home," Peyton said as they reached the adults.
"Something is wrong with Xana!"

Fear gripped the Bajoran/Scot's stomach – as prone to antics as the
kids were (and Prophets knew the Svenson boys had their moments of
theatrics) – there was a genuine panic in their voices and in their
faces that worried the man. "What's the matter?"

"She got back from the Dominions and Angus tried to attack her,"
Mikey continued on. "So we took Angus and Dahlia to find you!"
Turning to the Security officer he asked, "Do you think he smells the
Dominion on her?"

Lt. Kor was unprepared for the serious question from the young kid.
"Well has he ever done that before?"

Peyton shook his head. "No, Xana's gone to all kinds of places,
including the Dominion, and Angus has never tried to hurt her before.
He's never hurt ANYBODY!" Looking over at Mac the thirteen year old
said, "He growled at her, bared his teeth and whenever she moved he
kept trying to block her."

Lt. Kor looked over at McInnis who while petting the dog admitted,
"Angus has never hurt a soul. Some of the younger kids have even used
him as a small pony and he just sits there. That he would try and
attack Xana is…inconceivable."

"It happened," Peyton insisted. "And he just had his checkup and we
know he's fine. I think there's something wrong with Xana."

"Based on the dog trying to attack her?" Kor asked skeptically.

"You don't get how big this is," Mikey insisted.

Location: DOMINION FLAGSHIP
Scene: Brig
TI: An hour earlier

"This won't work," Xana Bonviva sang out.

"Why? Because the almighty Xana Bonviva said so," the Vorta known as
Vertec sneered. "Believe it or not the universe really does not bend
and conform to every whim that comes out of your flighty mouth."

Ambushed. Xana Bonviva had been ambushed. Upon the arrival of the
PATRIOT the Jem'Hadar had surrounded her and she was convinced that it
was finally her time. Mentally she had said her goodbyes, begged her
beloved Bolian gods for a swift passage to the afterlife and prepared
to face down the Dominion with…well she had no weapons on her except
for her stilettos and Gods knew that wasn't going to work.

What she hadn't been prepared for was to face the Changeling who was
her exact copy.
Now the Jem'Hadar were holding her back as she was watching the
Changeling walk around the floor mimic her.

"I do NOT sashay like that," Xana spat out as she watched the
Changeling practice her walk. The Changeling laughed at that and it
hurt Xana to hear it. "And my voice is not that high and annoying."

The Changeling walked over and skimmed a long fingernail down the
blue woman's cheek, "I'm going to go to your home. I'm going hold and
kiss your children—"

"Touch Peyton, Mikey or Dahlia and I'll rip out your guts," Xana warned.

"—make love to your husband," the Changelling laughed.

"I'm going to fracking kill you," the Bolian/Italian growled.

"No you're not," she smiled. Laughing she said, "And Jaxsper Jacks
won't be able to do some fancy finagling to get you out of here.
You're finally staying here."

"They'll realize it," Xana warned. "If for nothing else you'll need
to change back, you can't stay solid forever."

"I can stay solid for long enough," the Changeling promised.

"Long enough for what?" the former Ambassador gasped.

Vertec smiled at that. "Lock her up," she ordered the guards.

Over Xana Bonviva's yells and fighting, the Jem'Hadar threw her into
a prison while the Changeling went to the SOLSTICE preparing to go to
the GATEWAY.

NRPG: Thanks to Kim for the idea. Hopefully this, you know, muddies
up things a bit :-)
