"Part three"
( Continued from my own part two )

Scene: Rubble after the explosion

As a Doctor, Daisy was good with biochemistry.
Once upon a time, she designed a non-lethal bioweapon that
saved the crew of the USS CENTURY from Klingon Mercenaries.
Leaving a couple hundred Klingons doubled over with accute
Gastrointestinal distress so the Starfleet crew could overpower
them and take back their ship wasn't exactly consistent with the
Hippocratic oath - but Daisy took some comfort in the fact that
she hadn't killed them.
On another occasion, she was captured by the Aeseroth
consortium and that same medical knowledge assisted her in
staying alive. She was able to win in hand-to-hand combat
against bigger and stronger opponents by knowing how to
manipulate their anatomy and their biochemistry in ways that
only a doctor would know.
She walked away from sickbay after that, feeling unable to be
a "Healer" after having used medicine to kill. After that, she
became a command officer.
Eventually, she went back to medicine on a part time basis.
Then, finally, after seeing how the medics on the E4 base had
exploited Thomas Varn with their unnecessary medical testing,
Daisy threw herself back into medicine with a vengence. She
gave up command to crusade against anyone in the medical
profession doing what had been done to Thomas.
Commanding Gateway had been a privelage. She still found
time for sickbay and her love of medicine had remained strong.
Being here, though - at the mercy of Desai's every whim - and
made to assist her in her work - had taken her back to those
times when she was a prisoner of the Aeseroth Consortium.
People were kept alive through endless days of back-breaking,
mind-numbing work. Jem Hadar sometimes took workers out
of the mines for training exercises - when they would hunt
them like animals. Women were impregnated against their
will so that more workers could be created for the Dominion.
Sexual assaults were dismissed as part of life - and sometimes
even encouraged as a way to render the "newcomers" more
compliant.
The chances of Starfleet finding her or the others were somewhere
between slim and none - and she knew it. She knew there were
as many as two dozen clones of herself out there, though. Some
had accepted the Dominion behavioral conditioning. Others, though...
had not.
Any one of them, if found, would remember her children the
same as she did and love them just as much. And that was all
that mattered, wasn't it? Clones weren't able to serve in the military -
but any one of them could be there for her children just as she
would have.
That made it ok. Atleast, there was a chance that some piece
of her would make it back to them. And the other people she
loved? They would be there for her children - and there to assist
whichever one of the clones took her place.
It had been tricky, calculating how much of this enzyme or
that enzyme would do the job and complete the bomb without
Desai knowing.
The explosion was quick and massive.
Slammed into the wall, she died instantly from a basal skull
fracture. Her consciousness left her body and she was at peace.
Oblivious to what had happened to her physical body, Daisy was
enveloped in a warm white light and finally knew that all her work
was done. She knew she'd given her kids what she could. She
knew she'd lived and loved the best she could. Finally, she was
at peace.
Trapped beneath the rubble, as the decomposition process began,
her skin became tight and grey in color. Her muscles
finally and truly relaxed fror the first time in weeks. Her bladder
and bowels emptied, the waste from her body mixed with the soil
and her body temperature began dropping.
Over the next thirty minutes, her skin became purple and
waxy. Her lips, fingernails and toenails faded to a paler color as
the blood left them. Blood pulled in the lowest parts of her broken
body, leaving purple black stains - otherwise known as lividity. Her
hands and feet turned bluish colored and her eyes began to sink
into the back of her skull.
Multiple copies of Drake appeared, as well as workers from other shifts
who had been dragged out of bed to offer assistance. The Jem Hadar
sent out a distress call and three Dominion ships appeared in orbit to
beam down away teams for even more reinforcements to make sure
the Camp remained secure. Starfleet's remote listening posts noticed
the activity and sent a report on to GATEWAY.
Over the next four long hours of working in the rain, Drake recognized a
Borg crewman from the USS CHANTICO. He also saw a couple of
Andorians and a Klingon. His hands were bloody from digging when
he finally found a piece of equipment that was something like a tricorder
and he got it working.
Daisy's broken body was in full "Rigor Mortis" when they finally found her.
She was dead and had been for quite some time.
The Founders were the ones who encouraged people to worship
them as Gods and were famous for having the power to decide who
lives and who dies. Today, though....it was a Starfleet officer who took it
upon himself to decide this - Daisy's death - was simply unacceptable.
Breathing deeply, the wheels turning in his head, Drake scrambled through
more of the rubble looking for another piece of equipment.
He needed something that could be used to extract dormant Nanites from that
Borg. With the right programming, they would restore everything. They would
rebuild and restore Daisy's cellular structure and he would literally bring her back
from the dead.

NRPG: This is all I have time for now - however, if you guys can take care of the
ANDARAN situation - GATEWAY should have a report about increased Dominion
activity around a particular remote planet where Drake and Daisy are. :)
For those of you who may not have seen Star Trek: Voyager - Borg Nanites can
restore and reanimate a corpse as long as they've been dead less than 18 hours.
Seven of Nine restored Neelix the same way Drake is going to try and restore Daisy.
Neelix did not become Borg. Over a few weeks after this incident - they gradually
weaned his system free of Nanites.
Everyone - TAG!~! :)
Oh and thank you all again for your patience while I was waiting to have my HIV and Hepatitis C status verified. Sorry I was such a mess! It was scary stuff - being in the middle of this outbreak! I'm just so thankful I'm NEGATIVE!! I'm going to get that on a T-shirt....LOL NEGATIVE!!
Kim Toussaint AKA Commander Daisy Byrne Davidson, M.D.
Commanding officer of GATEWAY STATION
