Lieutenant Trella Palandora took great pride in her work. She and Ensign
Ariel Mason were congradulating each other on a job well done and
forwarding some recorded footage of their new prisoner to the ready room
for Anaqueen to see.
The Chameloid shifted every few minutes - whenever someone walked
by his cell. He took whatever forms he thought might best manipulate
whoever was looking.
It was spooky to see what a good job Moorit could do pushing buttons.
Spooky, that is, in the sense that he obviously knew a lot about
everyone.
Ensign Douglas Campbell was badly shaken when he saw the
Chameloid shift into the form of Jenny - the little sister who died
when she and Douglas were children. She looked up at him with
big, sad brown eyes, "Let me out of here, Douggie. Please?"
Lt. Lorvan Tell had to be confined to his quarters after Moorit
shifted into the form of his late wife, looking bruised and battered.
It took three guards to stop the Deputy Security chief from ripping
Moorit apart as he provoked Lt. Tell with the sight and sound of
his late wife pleadingly asking, "Please don't hit me, Lorvan."
It was then Trella noticed how disappointed the prisoner was
when they stopped Lt. Tell from killing him.
Apparently, the Chameloid *WANTED* them to kill him.
While Ensign Mason finished putting together a report for
Captain Spankryz, Trella tried one more time to convince
Moorit that Starfleet could protect him if he turned on his
employers.
As the Vissian left for the ready room, she could still hear the
Chameloid's laughter ringing in her ears. The way he just accepted
that Starfleet amounted to nothing in the face of the Dominion
gave her chills.
Even in the brig, surrounded by security, he was more afraid of
the Dominion and how his Gods would punish him then anything
Starfleet officers had to offer.

Main engineering saw a bit of a scuffle and a few minor injuries
before the Chameloid was arrested. Jake Crichton was very gallant
during the chaos.
He ignored his own bloody nose while carrying Crewman Pollard
to sickbay because of her sprained ankle. Dr. Grace Poe was
back on duty. She was calm and professional as she motioned
for a nurse to take care of the simple, easy treatments required
for their injuries.
Crichton noticed a change, though. It startled him, actually.
Normally, the Orion physician kept her thick black hair cut
extremely short. It was normally more "butchered" then cut,
really. People who loved to gossip had often speculated among
themselves, imagining the Orion woman enraged over past
abuses she'd suffered while enslaved and unceremoniously
sawing through her midnight black hair with some sort of knife.
Today, Dr. Poe's hair was long and tied up neatly in a bun at the
back of her neck. Crichton couldn't help staring and Grace finally
asked him, "What is it, Mr. Crichton? Are you injured as well?"
He smiled awkwardly. "I was just noticing you look different."
Annoyed, Grace replied simply. "I lost a wager. A matter of
honor obligates me to keep my hair long for the next seven days."
He flashed her a boyish grin and stepped closer to her with sort of
a swagger - like he was considering asking her out for a drink.
And, why not? Sure, she was older than him - but she was
Orion and the sensuality of that green skin with that black hair?
It was hot.
Still grinning, he complimented her, "Well, if you ask me, I think
it looks lovely and you should keep it." She gave him a cold look
and replied flatly, "I didn't ask, thank you."
The young man's features sort of fell as Grace walked away,
content to ignore him. From her biobed, Jake could hear
Crewman Pollard sniggering and he groaned, knowing she'd
probably tease him about this for the next two weeks.
Fortunately, the Comm system beeped.
[[ "Chief Engineer Crichton, you have a message
from Earth...." ]]
Surprised, Crichton tapped his comm badge.
"Put it through to my office, I'll be there shortly."
Molly Pollard gave him a teasing little pout.
"What? You're not going to carry me back?"
Jake rolled his eyes and grinned. "You're on
your own, Pollard." Then, he left to return to his
office.

The Vissian Security Chief and the acting Chief Medical officer arrived
at the lift approximately at the same time. Trella also noticed the
change in Grace's appearance and made polite, somewhat awkward
attempts to pretend that she didn't.
They quickly realised they were both going the same place - though
for different reasons. Trella was heading for the ready room for a
meeting with Captain Spankryz. Daisy had missed an appointment
and Grace was following her to the ready room to see if she was ok.

Anaqueen and Daisy were working together on a statement for the
media. The still-recovering commander was sipping a glass of water
and softly sniggered when she saw Ana's groan over the doorchime
ringing yet again.
"What's the matter?" Daisy teased softly. "You
don't like my job?"
Ana grinned. "Believe me - I'll be glad to have you
back behind this desk so I can take off on my ship."
"Yeah, yeah." Daisy groaned, rolling her eyes. Then, Ana
called out, "Enter"
The Vissian and the Orion walked in together. Daisy
immediately felt Dr. Poe glaring at her and she smiled weakly.
"Oh, my goodness, is it that late already?"
As the Vissian security chief passed her comm padd
to Anaqueen, the Trill heard the Orion physician
scolding Daisy about how important it is to monitor
the Nanite activity and chuckled. It brought back memories
of Captain Morningstar and Dr. Siobhan Jaxam scolding them
both during previous missions on the USS PROPHECY
many years ago.
Ana walked to the window with Trella to ask her
a few questions about the Chameloid and Daisy
deflected Grace's lecture by commenting on her hair.
"You look different."
Grace threw up her hands with annoyance. "Why is
everyone so fascinated with my hair?"
Daisy laughed softly, "I just couldn't help being
curious what motivated the change in your appearance, Dr. Poe."
Grace informed her coldly, "I'm here to discuss
matters related to your health, Commander. My
personal life is not your concern."
Daisy clapped her hands together lightly and
smirked. "Bravo, Dr. Poe! I totally agree and I
won't ask anymore. Can I just say congradulations?"
"Congradulations for what, Commander Davidson?
Having long hair?" Grace moaned, annoyed.
"No, apparently for finally having a personal life."
Daisy teased.
Grace's jaw dropped for a second, she was flabbergasted.
Talking about things other than her job was difficult for her.
Daisy held up her hand and gently changed the
subject to put Grace more at ease.
"I'm sorry I missed my appointment this morning. I'll come
to sickbay with you now, ok?"
Grace's face softened a bit and she replied flatly,
"Thank you, Commander."
Daisy gave Ana a little wave and then suggested,
"How about if we walk? I'm feeling ambitious to
get some exercise instead of being beamed around
all the time."
She leaned on Dr. Poe and Grace offered. "I could
get you a hoverchair."
In a good mood, Daisy couldn't resist changing
the subject back to something more personal.
"You know, I do love your hair long. Any chance
you'd let me braid it? I do a mean french braid."
Grace groaned and her shoulder's sagged.
"Commander, please..."
"Fine, fine...." Daisy surrendered with a smile. They
left the ready room with Grace eager to
see if Daisy had the strength to make it to sickbay and
hoping the media wouldn't notice them.

Lt. Jg. Muller agreed to take Kate's shift in Operations today so
that she could go spend some time touring the USS CHANTICO.
She was very excited about the challenge of command - even if it was
a "part time" command.
John found her desk neat and tidy. During her suspension from
medical duties, she'd grown nicely into her position as an Operations
officer. The initial controversy of her having been "in trouble" after
sharing confidential medical information quickly faded because Kate
worked hard to do her new job the best she could.
As the junior officer accessed her terminal, he reviewed her
search history looking for reports that needed to be finished.
It was there he found a couple of personal information requests
she'd made just before leaving for lunch and at the end of her shift.
Though she was not supposed to be practicing medicine, she'd
apparently asked for medical information. The young man frowned
and wondered if he should be concerned that Kate had downloaded
recent medical journals on Orion Physiology.
Worried for the woman he'd grown to consider a friend and truly
enjoyed working with, he sighed and hoped this was something
innocent like studying to keep her skills current for when her
suspension was lifted.

"You really didn't tell Mom?" Gavi asked, surprised.
"I didn't see the need to bother her." Cade shrugged. "No one was
injured. I picked up Wangel's things and got them delivered to his new
quarters. No harm done."
LJ rolled his eyes but said nothing. He was content
to continue making up little melodies on his guitar and enjoy their day.
Over LJ's shoulder, Cade saw Wangel Erek and Erika
approaching. Foster wagged his finger at LJ and gave him a look
of warning. The boy nodded and sighed. Then, he picked up his
guitar, strapped it over his shoulder and simply walked away - leaving
Wangel Erek to talk to Foster and Gavi.
Cade grinned. "Good morning."
Wangel Erek smiled. "Good Morning. Thanks for
having my things delivered. You saved me a trip
to come back for them."
Foster denied it. "Oh, I didn't."
"I scanned them." Erek assured him.
"You scanned your clothes and stuff?" Gavi looked
surprised.
"Yes, I'm not a complete idiot." the Bajoran smiled
politely. "I know I'm not LJ's favorite person and I
wanted to make sure he hadn't planted any - what
does Daisy call them?"
"Booby traps" Cade chuckled.
Erika frowned. "LJ doesn't like you, Daddy?"
Cade quickly corrected her. "LJ likes him fine, sweetheart.
Your Daddy just misunderstood some of LJ's practical jokes."
"Like when he left dead fish in Gavi's underwear drawer?"
Erika asked innocently.
"I hadn't heard about that one." Cade laughed.
"Anyway...." Wangel Erek continued. "The Tricorder
picked up your epithelials on my things. Thank you
for packing them for me."
"Folding your Tighty-Whities was entirely my pleasure."
Cade replied dryly, making a 'salute' gesture with
one hand.
Wangel Erek blinked as Gavi fell over giggling, knowing
they were sharing a joke that he didn't understand. Then, he
groaned and changed the subject "Right, where is Daisy?"
"She's due for a check in medical." Cade explained, "And
apparently, I'm not allowed to tag along."
"So you won't boss around the other doctors and make a
pest of yourself." Erika chided him.
Wangel Erek paused, "Erika!"
She laughed and innocently looked at him, "What?
That's what Mommy always says - that Cade is always
picking on the other doctors."
Foster just smirked as Gavi laughed. Then, Cade just
shrugged and assured Wangel Erek. "Your daughter
is not wrong."

NRPG:
Crichton getting a message from Earth is the start of sending him home.
Thanks for mentioning him, Jasmina - and reminding us that we needed to do that.
Anyway - I wanted to get Daisy's family out of her quarters and easier for people
to talk to.
My husband is leaving for an annual training seminar on Tuesday and will be gone until Friday night. Having him gone - I won't have his help to distract the kids or to get them
off to school in the mornings. Then, this weekend - we'll be celebrating my husband's
birthday and Mother's day this weekend. So - I'll be busy.
Next week - after the 12th, I hope to have Patrick back at work, the kids back at school and Daisy on active duty and life going on. :)
Leigh - you out there? Contact me if you are still wanting to play with us.
Oh, yeah - and as for the title - that's just the show I was watching while I was writing. LOL
