“Why? Do you really think it will save you?”
Cade said in a mocking tone.
Zel stared at him back through hazy eyes. “No,
but if anyone comes close with a hypospray again I’ll
hit them with it.”
The older physician sighed a bit to himself,
shaking his head before staring the smaller man down.
“Kid… hit me with that tray, and I’ll sedate you so
fast you won’t know what hit you.”
Giles chuckled a bit, watching the two stare one
another down. Cade made more of his usual
obnoxious comments while a nurse approached
the little hybrid from behind. She gently got
a hypospray to Zel's throat.
The petite hybrid swung the tray - only to have
Cade lung forward and grab it just in time to keep
it from hitting the nurse. Then, he wrestled down
Zel until the medication more fully kicked in - making
it possible to treat his injuries. After that was done,
they were content to let the little hybrid sleep on an
empty biobed.

“Commander we are being hailed, it’s the Aspen,” an
operations officer stated looking up from his station,
“they are one of four medical vessels with the thirteenth
fleet. They are carrying refugees and Commander they have
wounded.”
Eshinala looked up from a padd that she was readying
before nodding, “open up available docking bays and inform
sickbay to expect wounded.”

“And that reporter?” Davidson queried, her brown eyes
narrowing.
The Trill replied tersely, thinking of Fedcom. “He’s placed under arrest
and will be transported to the brig.”
“Fedcom will have a field day with that,” Cade remarked sarcastically.
“They would deem it unfair to see Daisy getting the spa treatment while
one of their own is sent to rot in hell.”
“I could care less about that rag,” Daisy muttered angrily and snuggled
against Cade’s chest. “Hug me,” she cooed.
“Alright,” Ana concluded. “I better go now as there is some damage
control needing to be done.” The Trill Captain left the room and was
fortunate to not having heard Cade’s crude remarks about her physique.
Daisy only got a few quiet moments resting her head against the
comfort of Cade's chest before the announcement came over the comm
about incoming wounded. What few empty biobeds they had were
filling up quickly with injured refugees from an Argrathi colony and
they nolonger had the luxury of letting Zel "sleep it off". Yet another
hypospray to his throat counteracted the sedative he'd been given
and suddenly, Zel was awake. The little hybrid was furious that he'd
been drugged. His shock, though...over the sight of many Argrathi
families huddled around biobeds...quickly deflated his rage. He
quietly scurried out of sickbay.
Even if Daisy hadn't been 'confined' to sickbay by Anaqueen's orders,
she would have stayed. Though she still tired easily, she joined
Cade and the other doctors helping treat the injured.
Just as quietly as he'd left sickbay, Zel Rohan came back an hour later.
He hated being around modern medicine. He hated being in sickbay,
but he hated seeing children feeling alone and afraid even more.
The faces of little greenish-grey skinned children with ridged foreheads
lit up with smiles as they recieved free samples from Zel's most recent
shipment of toys. The same people who had watched Zel's outrage
over having to be anywhere near modern medicine were now smiling
as he offered children the comfort of a plush stuffed Cat to snuggle
or Commander Cat Woman and Wingboy action figures to play with
while they waited to be examined and processed.
Still recovering herself, Daisy tired more quickly than the other doctors.
Though she loved getting the chance to see Cade working, she also
saw what it took for the little hybrid to stay in this place that he hated
and try to offer some comfort for the kids.
Touched, she brought him a glass of water and said with a smile,
"You did good."

NRPG:
Very short, I know. I'm just very busy today - but I wanted to show
some attention to our little businessman. :) So - this was for you, Jamie.
I hope I played Zel well.
