“Triplicate” (contd-“Parallels”)
Location: GS2
Scene: Brig -> Interview room
Stardate: [2.8]0719.2324
When the man had entered the brig some of the SHIV prisoners had began to chuckle knowing what their own version of this man was like, pathetic in the cell on their ship and now sharing a cell with two others whom would not let him near them; a state he accepted with the same cheery manner he accepted everything.
The looks on the guards faces though soon stopped the chuckling and one of the prisoners latter asserted that the man’s eyes had bored right in to him, and he most certainly felt cold while he was around.
He had stepped forwards and nodded to the particular cell holding his double and the guards quickly drew their weapons and deactivated the forcefield.
“Come with me please.” Said Drake and turned to leave, his counterpart already climbing to his feet to follow.
They didn’t have far to travel before Drake opened up an unobtrusive door squirreled away in a corner of the main corridor for this section.
Inside the room was comfortable enough and was set out pretty much like any basic lounge area belonging to say a hotel. The furniture was all Starfleet standard and there were no homey touches in fact there was nothing interesting particularly about the room, other than the not obvious fact that it was completely secure from all forms of eavesdropping and there were no internal sensors covering it, it was for all intents and purposes a dead zone.
“Please have a seat, would you like a drink?” Asked Drake of his counterpart.
“Just a water thank you.” Replied Horatio seating himself, his expression was still as cheery as usual, as thought getting out of the cell made no difference to him.
Drake sat down opposite him, passing one of two glasses over to him, watching intently.
Drake was not paranoid in his general personality, or at least he hoped now; but his job did engender a certain amount of caution greater somewhat than others had to exhibit.
Horatio however seemed perfectly relaxed as he sipped his water.
“I am assuming you wish to ask me some questions?” He said.
Drake smiled; many people would find this a remarkable experience no doubt, but given that Drake already worked with a copy of himself; and that several others also existed; this was not quite so bewildering for him, especially given there were more differences between himself and Horatio.
“If you don’t mind.” Smiled Drake, launching straight in to the first question. “It does seem that you were beamed from the SHIV’s brig, could you tell me why you were there?”
“I own, or rather owned, a cargo runner, the SHIV ambushed me and took my cargo and me with it.” Replied Horatio smiling.
“What was your cargo?” asked Drake.
“Oh I don’t know, they were all sealed crated."
Before Drake could reply to Horatio, his clone walked in.
An awkward silence fell over the room as Horatio glanced back and forth between his interdimensional counterpart and his counterpart's clone. Then, he managed a weak grin.
"This is interesting."
"I didn't expect you to be released from sickbay for another couple of hours." Drake chided his clone - who had been involved in a minor scuffle with a civilian earlier that day.
"Dr. Poe has allowed both Cade Fosters to work there. My broken wrist was repaired rather quickly, though I was left with a headache from listening to both Cade Fosters rambling on about their mutual brilliance."
Horatio smirked. "Hearing that, I think I'll be extra careful to avoid ending up in sickbay."
Drake chuckled. "How about we get back to the subject of your cargo, eh?"
“As I said, I don’t know what my cargo was, I was running what I was told were medical supplies to a colony away from main trade routes and then the SHIV ambushed me, they kept the cargo and me, i don’t know what they did with my ship.”
“Ok, if we can corroborate this is some way then I will let you know and we shall see if there is any way to get you back home, or set you up here in some way. We can put you in some very small quarters but you will be restricted to them with a guard outside or you can go back to the cells?”
“I am perfectly happy with whatever is best for your people.”
“I shall see to your quarters then as we walk.” Said the second Drake. As he gestured for Horatio to leave the two Drake’s exchanged a glance, why would the SHIV have kept a trader after taking his cargo?
