The perks of her job ranged between the best and the worst.   As CO
of the station,  there were proverbial "strings" she could pull that lower
ranking officers and even other Commanders could not.    The publicity,
however, was  a proverbial "pain in the ass".     Word that she was
leaving spread quickly  - as did rumors of increased conflict
between Daisy and her XO in the wake of the Dark Lord's attack
against Daisy's family.

Much to the annoyance of the station's new Assistant Chief of Security,
station records were hacked into and footage of Commander Davidson
arguing with Kate MacNeil and Hunter Williams ended up in the hands
of  the media.  Reporters were trying to get into all 23 of the station's
shuttlebays - hoping to catch Commander Davidson
with her family and negotiate an interview.

Cochrane was finishing the last of his pre-flight diagnostics when he
heard his comm badge beeping.

"Here, Ma'am"

[[ "Your children are invited to join us - though I'd recommend you have
them beamed to the shuttlebay to avoid reporters and Security.  I'm sure
they'd enjoy some time on BAJOR with their father." ]]

"That's very kind of you, Commander.  Thank you.  I agree"  Cochrane
replied, genuinely touched by the invitation.

[[  "You're welcome." ]]  Daisy replied.  [[  "We'll be there soon.  I just
have to contact BAJOR. " ]]

Daisy's daughter, Erika, wore a rhinestone tiarra with her favorite
pink sweater even for a simple picnic in the front yard of the Wangel
family home.  Matching, equally flamboyant and glittering clip-on
ear rings dangled from her little lobes as the seven year old bobbed
her head this way and that while playing with her dolls.

Much to her Bajoran Grandmother's annoyance,  Erika's favorite
dolls these days were from GATEWAY.    She had various versions of
"Commander Cat woman" and "Wing boy" as well as other starfleet
and Dominion action figures and a couple customized dolls of
herself that Daisy had commissioned for her.

"Don't worry, Mommy!  Super Erika will save you!"  the little girl
beamed,  waving a tiny version of herself that was meant to be
"Super Erika" flying down to rescue "Commander Cat woman" from
the clutches of the evil Dominion.

"You haven't eaten your Choppa root soup."  Oblamma chided her
gently.

"Choppa root sucks" Erika shrugged.   "I like the Tonga Berry
cupcakes, though.

"Watch your language, young lady."  her grandmother chided her.
"And no dessert until you've finished your Choppa root soup.  It's
good for your nose ridges."

Erika laughed.  "My nose ridges are fine, Grandma."

Wangel Oblamma shot her a look of warning and Erika groaned.

"Ok, ok...."

After taking the lid off the bowl of foul tasting Choppa root soup
and forcing herself to gulp down a spoonfull, Erika asked,

"Is Dad almost done with his mid-day prayers?"

Just then, her father came out.  The normally cheerful Bajoran
school teacher wore a frown and Erika jumped at the excuse to
put aside her Grandmother's wretched Choppa root soup.

The little girl rushed to her Dad's side and asked,  "What's wrong?"

He gave her a quick smile and assured her,  "I'm fine.  I just had
the Comm system interrupt my private time with the Prophets."

"Has there been some type of emergency?"  Oblamma asked.

Wangel Erek smiled patiently,  "Daisy is returning to BAJOR."

Oblamma stood up, suddenly worried.  "The last time she was here,
those reporters invaded our home."

"My Mom can't come here to visit?"  Erika asked, suddenly worried.

Wangel Erek rubbed his daughter's head and quickly assured her,
"You'll be seeing your Mom soon.  I'll just take you to see her.  She's
booked a private, secure estate in the Southern Islands."

Erika's eyes widened and a big grin spread across her face,
"Ooooh, those are so fancy.  You and Grandma have never taken
me THERE."

That remark left Erek blushing awkwardly,  he gave his daughter
a weak, half-hearted laugh and protested,  "Oh, I could get one
of those estates if I wanted but I always thought the beaches in
our own province were more than lovely enough."

Relieved Daisy was thoughtful enough to get alternate accomodations,
even Oblamma couldn't resist teasing Erek,    "Right, sure you could.
Those estates are only offered to dignitaries."

Erek stammered,  "Well, I did Starfleet's ACT program for many years."

Oblamma openly laughed and Wangel Erek rolled his eyes,

"I'm going back to my prayers now, Mother.   Please pack a bag for
Erika.  I'll take her to join her mother tomorrow."

Erika giggled as Oblamma patted Erek on the head rather
condescendingly,  "Yes, dear."

"Boy, this sure is a cool shuttle."  Leah Stephens blurted out, her eyes wide.
Her twin brother gave her a light shove,   "It's a Runabout, Doofus."

"Then, why did we leave from a "Shuttlebay"?"  She argued.

LJ laughed.   The verbal tug-of-war between the kids made a nice distraction
from Daisy and the way she kept following him around with a medical tricorder
and pestering him with questions about how he was feeling.

Gavi offered a possible answer.  "Maybe they thought "Shuttlebay" sounded
better than "Runaboutbay"?"

"The boy is fine, Daisy."  Cade teased her.

LJ looked over his shoulder at his adoptive mother and added,  "What *HE*
said."

She rolled her eyes and sighed before putting the tricorder aside, pulling LJ
into a hug and kissing his forehead.   The boy wasn't sure whether to laugh
or cry himself when he saw Daisy's eyes glistening.  She got all choked up
and then stepped away, embarrassed that she was starting to cry infront
of the Stephens children.

LJ gave her a worried look.  "Mom?"

The sound of him calling her Mom always made her smile.  She brushed away
a couple tears and admitted,  "This thing the Marine calls his 'magic' is just
a type of alien bioenergy and exposure to that is not something to be taken
lightly.    I just need to make sure you are really ok because, if something
happens to you....I just couldn't take it I lost another son."

As LJ jumped up and hugged the stuffing out of Daisy, Gavi laughed
and rolled his eyes,  "God, Mom...you are such a girl."

LJ glared at his little brother and then made a note to start reading about
puppy training.  As far as he was concerned, the sooner he could get his
puppy started biting Gavi's feet and shredding Gavi's clothes and toys,
the better.

Daisy laughed at Gavi's teasing.  Then, she  let go of LJ so she could
go after  Gavirosh, intent on giving him a vigorous tickling.

The Stephens children laughed as Daisy gentlhy tackled Gavi and
vigorously began going after all his most ticklish spots.  The boy
shrieked and giggled, begging her to stop.    Finally, she did.  Then,
she turned to Leah and Elijah and asked,

"What about the two of you?  Either of you ticklish?"

The sounds of his own children shrieking and giggling flowed through the
cabin to where their father sat at the helm.   Cochrane listened and
found himself smiling....

NRPG:

Leigh - I hope you don't mind that I went ahead and sent this on my own.  I wanted
to give Ran the parting gift of having te press going after Kate and Hunter.  *Snigger*

I also thought Jamie would enjoy writing Sardra taking on the media and finding out
just who 'hacked' into station surveilance records.  *laughs*  And, since Crichton was
also in the footage - the media would have a reason to hassle him, too.  LOL

I'm still up for a JP with you - I was thinking we should put what happens on BAJOR in the Novella archive so not to confuse and distract from what everyone is oing on the station.

What do you think?  Would Cochrane and his kids  enjoy a day, maybe a weekend on BAJOR with Daisy's family before heading back to the station?  The Oceans on BAJOR are green and the lush tropical islands would be beautiful.
