"She's making Gavi a Momma's boy. Yes, she is." LJ coo'ed while restling with his puppy.
All three heads nibbled playfully at him and LJ lowered himself down onto his sleeping bag
so the puppy could climb up onto his chest. Three mouths all scrambling to lick his face made
for a lot of "puppy slobber" dribbling down LJ's chin but the boy didn't seem to mind. He
just laughed and did his best to try and scratch behind all six of Fiendfyre's ears. "And Mum
has no sense of humor. No, she doesn't. "

The once tiny and frail, dangerously anemic pup that had been rescued from the medical lab
on the BFOV SHIV was now nearly 12 pounds in weight. His red fur was thick and shiny. LJ
ran his fingers through it and scratched the pup's belly. "You're a good boy - yes, you are."

The two of them had been banished to the deck. It was a "slap on the wrist" as
punishments go - both boy and dog were to spend the next few days sleeping in the back
yard and Gavi would get peace and quiet in the house alone with Cade and Daisy. The
teenager was actually perfectly content to sleep under the stars - enjoying the light of
multiple moons and the ocean air. He laughed as Fiendfyre licked his face again. The bond
between the puppy and LJ was profound - but there was something that ran deeper and LJ
would soon discover that.

Though Daisy was glad Cade stayed with her and the kids, she still needed some time alone
to brood over what had happened with Ben earlier that day. The older man warned her to
avoid going around the back of the house because of the puppy being there but Daisy bragged
she moved very quietly in her feline form and LJ would have closed the pup in his carrier
since he was supposed to be asleep by then.

All three noses picked up the scent Cade would teasingly refer to as "Kitty cooties". LJ felt
the puppy's body language change and asked him, "What is it, boys? Huh?"

Fiendfyre bolted across LJ's chest and lunged after what looked to him like a simple black cat
with a sparkly collar. In her feline form, Daisy only weighed eight pounds . When she saw
the puppy lunging after her - she made an almost screaming "Mewing" sound and took off
running. The puppy chased her around the house and up a tree with LJ scrambling after him
yelling for him to stop.

LJ found himself standing at the foot of the tree, holding his dog and looking up at the feline
form of his adoptive Mom with a sheepish grin.

"Sorry, Mum."

Daisy only responded with a sort of growlish meowing that made him bust out laughing. She
finally climbed down the tree and glared up at him for laughing at her before running towards
the beach.

Still sniggering, he called out, "Love you, too - Mum." before walking back to the deck and
gently closing Fiendfyre into his pet carrier. The puppy wimpered - but LJ tossed him in a
squeak toy and laid right next to the carrier so he wouldn't be scared.

"Sorry, buddy - you don't get to have my Mum for a bedtime snack."
