"Life Signs" (Cont'd from "Oppresive Silence") Location: USS MCINNIS Scene: Bridge -> Transporter room Stardate: 2.80131.1227 Kat waited by the turbolift until AJ O'Malley reappeared from the CO's ready room, he gave her a brief look and then walked past her into the turbolift. Turning on her heel the XO stepped in after him. "The ASTRO's?" she muttered. "They worked on the PROPHECY." AJ answered calmly. "and we've had a lot of time to iron out the kinks." Kat turned to look up at the ILO, AJ looked at her and had a brief moment of uncertainty, she looked at him like she had back on the PRO, like he was a new acquaintance like she was still trying to work him out. He wondered if she really had decided to start anew or if being in command had given her a certain amount of control she'd been lacking. Finally she blinked. "I've always had issues with intelligence agencies controlling people with guns." "You've always had issues with intelligence agencies." AJ answered smartly, "Even when you were an intelligence operative." The turbolift stopped and the two stepped out keeping time as they walked along the corridor. "It comes from not having a subtle bone in your body, you think having a bunch of untrained security goons with guns is a better option?" "At least you know where you stand with security officers, they know their job and the only motive is our motive, nothing ulterior." AJ held in a sigh and stared Kat down calmly he stated, "The ASTRO's stay." Kat sighed and stopped in front of the transporter room doors. "I know, but only because the admiral says so." She answered and then turned her back on the ILO as the doors opened she stepped through. The team going to engineering were still preparing so Commander Quin glanced up, the CMO had a small team of medics with him along with security officers and the ASTRO's team AJ was bringing with him. Kat sighed, "It looks like a boarding party." The Klingon glanced around at him. "Well we are going to look at the life signs." He pointed out. Kat smiled at that and then indicated the transporter pad, her hand flickered to her side and she pulled her phaser out as the team stepped up onto the spots. Wren gave her a small smile, the counsellor was coming through with the rest of the medics once the area was deemed secure by the first group. "Energise." Kat ordered. =[/\]= Scene: Bridge "Commander." Xana turned and glanced upwards as Safaree broke away from her console and came to the centre of the bridge. "Starfleet have just gotten back to us." The younger woman said, Commander Bonviva sighed at the enthusiasm in Ensign Orla's eyes. "And?" she prompted quietly. "The HOLLAND did go missing last year but not here, it released a distress beacon that Starfleet responded to but by the time we got there the ship had gone." "So starfleet left it?" "Well no, they did a quick search of the area but found nothing except for some small flotsam, the HOLLAND was declared missing in action and that was the last of it." "Except it's here, obviously been in a fight, split in two pieces with life signs on it." Xana pointed out quietly. "Right, I'm doing scans of the area, to see what indigenous life forms are in this system, the life signs on the HOLLAND are too mixed up to get a firm reading." Xana scowled at that, "mixed up how?" Safaree paused and almost stammered, "Commander I'm the SOO, I'm meant to know about fleet movements and strategies, not sensor scans." The CO actually smiled as the officer at the science console turned slightly. "We're getting interference from the ship, could have been a warp core breach when the ship was damaged or something else masking our sensors." Xana blanched as she looked at the officer, "figure out what's masking the scans and warn the away teams especially the engineering team." "Aye Ma'am." ** NRPG: Sorry this is so short, I've been ill again and it's all been a bit manic, here's something though that hopefully you can launch from, otherwise give me a shout and we'll work something out.
