"St Patrick's day - part one" ( Continued from my and Peter's "Threesome" JP ( PROPHECY) and Rahul's "NIGHTMARE" post ( Patriot ) _____________________________________ Location: Paris, France, EARTH SD: 2.70316.2036 Scene: Restaurant _______________________________________ Kathryn MacNeil sighed as she set aside the fork and knife after finishing her meal. Glancing at her Andorian companion, the Scot felt something nagging at her. The doctor had Aerdan’s promotion pip and award in her hands and every time she thought of presenting them to him, an awkward feeling rose inside her and the young woman backed off. Normally, the half-Nuimon would have been happy to give Jos his rewards, but the circumstances this time around were different and a bit delicate, particularly when the receiver was feeling guilt over his creation. MacNeil recalled the shock and anger felt initially when first hearing Aerdan’s revelation about his involvement in the cure but after having some time to think, the CMO understood why Jos and Peter had to come up with the virus and in fact became grateful. But seeing Aerdan feeling wrought over the virus had made it difficult, even awkward to present him with his promotion and the Soong Science Ribbon. Clearing her throat, Kate inquired with a smile. “How is your meal?” “Very nice,” the aCMO, soon to be CSciO, replied, politely. MacNeil nodded. “I’m glad to hear. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Paris.” “How come? Is it the quiet atmosphere?” The Andorian questioned. “That is one reason,” the Scottish woman answered and then blushed. “The other is the ambiance makes the place a suitable romantic setting.” Aerdan nodded, his antennae wilting a bit and purplish tints started to become visible on the azure cheeks. “An interesting choice of words there.” He gave his companion a soft smile. “Well look around you,” Kate pointed out, her hand directing the Andorian’s gaze towards the other patrons in the establishment. “All other customers here are couples and the room is dimly lit by candle lights at each table, which spells ‘Romantic’.” She began chuckling, causing her companion to laugh a little. Aerdan admitted, grinning. “I guess you do have a point.” “After giving the depositions, I am planning on making a trip to Scotland,” Kate informed. She leaned forward, elbows pressed on the surface of the table and asked, “Would you and Ishe like to come with me?” “Ah…” Jos was lost for words for moment before clearing his throat to give his response. “I…” The doctor got interrupted by the chirp of Kate’s comm. badges. He watched the tall woman respond to the call and became worried, when the happiness on Kate’s face changed to one that of concern. Aerdan inquired, after the half-Nuimon finished her call. “Something wrong?” Kate got up and urged. “We need to head to Starfleet Medical. Daisy’s going into labour.” The two doctors left their table and paid for their dinner at the bar before heading out. __________________________________________ Scene: Maternity ward, Starfleet Medical ________________________________________ Kate and Aerdan arrived just as Peter and Mav finished their argument. The Human/Nuimon hybrid made a beeline for the CEO’s position and inquired, out of concern. “What happened here? And how is Daisy doing?” Peter, looking and feeling very frantic, replied. “Thanks goodness you both are here… Daisy is in pain…” The three officers went inside the room, just as Mav stepped out. The XO of the PROPHECY, a medical doctor in her own right....an OBGYN, to be more precise...rolled her eyes over Peter's anxiety. "Of course, I'm in pain, you idiot!!! Kinda hard to go through labor without pain....I tried to tell you that." "Time between contractions?" Aerdan asked calmly. "Last two were 12 minutes apart....." Daisy replied calmly. "Next one will hit in five....and you just missed the chance to meet my favorite marine..." "Oh, God...." Peter groaned. "Can we forget Mav was here, please?" Kate frowned. "Who and/or what is a 'mav'?" "An old friend of Daisy's and Jax's...." Matthew sighed. "Hates Peter for cheating on Jax with me..." Daisy grinned teasingly. "I think he was just hoping if Peter was going to cheat on Jax - it would have been with him." Peter's mouth hung open. "Mav is as straight as they come... he sleeps with women..." Trying to ignore the the content of their conversation, Kate smiled politely as Aerdan picked up a tricorder and began calibrating it. Daisy smirked teasingly. "Most would tell you that *I* am as straight as they come....but I once had a lesbian relationship that was quite lovely.... not all of us are as solidly aligned as you, gayboy...." Kate's eyes widened slightly and she blushed. It wasn't the first time she'd ever dealt with patients just blurting out personal information. Aerdan preferred working in surgery - where patients were drugged and couldn't blurt out such embarrassing things. The shock of suddenly visualizing Daisy in an intimate situation with a woman suddenly made him drop his Tricorder. He turned around and avoided eye contact, aware everyone was probably staring at him and smiling. And, they were. Peter finally coughed to break the silence. "Stop torturing me, you cow...." Matthew's eyes widened and he smirked. "Teasing you this "Mav" person might be attracted you is torture?" Peter glared at him. Daisy grinned. "If you ever saw Mav in a pair of boxers...you'd understand...." Incredibly uncomfortable, the quiet Andorian considered stepping out to the nurse's station. Then, Daisy's face contorted as another contraction began to wash over her. The Andorian quickly forgot his discomfort and began reminding her to breathe. Gently, Kate turned to Peter. "I think we should talk about that sedative, Peter..." The brit sighed. "Don't you start picking on me, too...." She smiled gently..."You wouldn't be the first nervous father I ever had to sedate, Peter...." He laughed awkwardly..."I'm fine, really..." Daisy stared intensely at Aerdan while doing her breathing....he smiled encouragingly. "The contractions are still 12 minutes apart...." Kate warned him patiently. "It's going to be a long, long night...." "Then, give *HER* drugs to make it go faster...." the brit scoffed awkwardly. "Not medically necessary...." Kate sighed. "She is doing fine..." Peter sighed. "I'll do a better job staying calm....I promise...." "Never was your strong suit before..." Matthew smirked teasingly. Peter turned and, again, glared at his husband - who quickly stepped back. "Right. Bad joke. Sorry." Peter turned his attention back to Daisy....watching the sweat pouring off of her and groaned. "Why does this have to go on for so long, Dammit?" The contraction beginning to taper off, Daisy hissed through gritted teeth. "Because sometimes, it just does....I'm ok, really..." "When do you expect her to deliver the twins?" Matthew asked calmly. "At her current rate or progression...in another 12 hours..." The brit gritted his teeth and sighed. "Bloody hell!" Daisy grinned as the contraction finally ended and scolded him "Peter, stop complaining...I'm fine with it. Tomorrow will be the perfect birthday...." Peter blinked, "What?! Why?" "It's St. Patrick's day tomorrow....we have the twins and I'll get years of fun tormenting you with leprechaun jokes...." The color drained from the brit's face and he leaned towards Kate.... "I think I'll take that sedative now...." _____________________________________________________________ NRPG: Loved your post, Naomi....I'll work more with Cade and your character into part two. :) Taylor.... :P Jamie - hope this gives you a laugh.
