"Caught in the Middle" Cont. from "You realize..." ------------------------------------------------------- Location: USS Patriot Scene: Bridge Stardate: 2.70327.1343 Tam looked between the two other women on the bridge. She'd have to be deaf, dumb, and blind not to notice the currents of anger and distrust crackling between them. **And once again I've arrived in Lieutenant Cal's path.** This was getting frustrating; this was only the second time that she'd met the woman, and she was starting to wonder if the officer was always in this sort of mood or if she just had an affinity for walking in on it. Of course, it would help if Cal didn't keep giving her that look of condescension like she'd just spied a cadet fresh off her planet instead of a seasoned crew member. She turned her attention back to the blonde in front of her. She still had no idea who this was, but she guessed that it was Lieutenant Sterling-Jade, from the rank pin and from the physical description included in the Starfleet profile. "Now. What do you need? Someone to tell you about the crew?" "In a manner of speaking. I'm not sure who would be responsible for this, but the psych profiles are still locked, and I can't access them. The computer informed me that the highest-ranking senior officer available was the operations officer, who happened to be on the bridge." She was very tempted to smile sweetly in Cal's direction, but pushed down the impulse. It would be unprofessional and not a good idea in light of the woman's temperament, and she blamed the thought on the sheer number of untrained cadets that she'd been exposed to again at the Academy. The Anarian actually growled before standing up and moving toward a console. "I'll unlock it for you. I would assume that the captain forgot in her rush to get off the bridge to shoreleave." "Thank you, I appreciate that." She turned back to Sterling-Jade. "And thank you. I'm glad I was able to meet you." She wondered why the woman looked almost startled at the thanks as she left the bridge. **And I'm very glad that I don't have to work on the bridge with Lieutenant Cal.** "Shouldn't you be going, too, now that you've delivered your reports?" Cal asked Sterling-Jade, pointedly returning to her seat. "Of course. Some of us have work to do." She ducked into the turbolift just before the doors closed and before Cal could react. ------------------------------------------------------- Scene: Turbolift Tam was intent on getting to her office and reading the newly-unlocked profiles, but she couldn't miss the looks that Sterling-Jade was sneaking at her. "I may assume you've seen a Bajoran before,"she finally said, after a few levels had passed. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize-" Sterling-Jade paused and collected her thoughts. "I'm the intelligence liason officer, by the way. You can call me Catherine." "Thank you. I thought you were, actually, I was able to look at the public profiles for the senior staff, and you seemed to be the person described." She knew Catherine had to be dying to know why she wasn't asking the obvious questions about her origin, but she wanted to wait and look at the profiles before asking questions of the crew. As the door opened onto deck six, she nodded, stepped out, and had to swing herself quickly out of the way of the body that was standing in front of the door. Looking up at him, and the fact that he was infinitely more focused on the woman in the turbolift, she guessed that he was Dr. Clarkson. Tam decided that, despite the fact that she would probably be working with him a great deal, now was not a good time to make his acquaintance, and she turned to head away down the corridor. ------------------------------------------------------- NRPG: Tam's just meeting everyone today, isn't she?
