" Beware of Peter and Maddie" ( Continued from my own "You realize..." and Rahul's "Catching up" ) ________________________________________ Location: EARTH,France,Paris Scene: Daisy's hotel suite Stardate: 2.70328.0731 Time index: Morning after the opera, Daisy's picked up her kids and gone back to her hotel ________________________________________ Daisy and Erika greeted Kate at the door. Mother and daughter were laughing and still wearing their night clothes. "Am I too early?" Kate asked politely, looking worried. She was carrying a medical kit. Daisy smiled easily. "No, we were playing and lost track of time or else we'd have been dressed. " Erika beamed up at her. "Hi, Dr. Kate!" "Hi, sweetheart." Kate smiled down at her. "Go tell Gavi we'll have breakfast as soon as Kate is done with my check-up, ok?" Daisy rumpled Erika's brownish blonde mop of curls and the little girl grinned. "Chocolate chip pancakes?" "Absolutely!" Daisy laughed. After Erika disappeared into the next room, Kate mentioned politely, "I noticed you and Cade disappeared last night." Daisy sat on the bed and nodded as Kate held a tricorder infront of her. "I figured I should get him out of there once I realized Harper was coming clean with Maddie. I didn't want him overhearing anything. If he knew Harper was pregnant...." Daisy chuckled weakly. "Let's just say I don't think he'd handle it very sensitively." Kate laughed. "I have to agree with you." The Half-Nuimon doctor suddenly frowned as she studied the tricorder reading. "There's a pigment variation on your shoulder..." "Just a tattoo..." Daisy quickly explained. She casually pulled one arm out of her bathrobe and showed Kate a small lizard tattoo on her shoulder blade. "Interesting...." Kate smiled politely. "What prompted that?" Daisy shrugged discreetly and laughed. "Just a whim. Cade got one, too....but I didn't see what it was. He teased me he got the words "Welcome aboard" written on his ...." Kate went pale and interrupted her. "Oh, god - don't tell me." "Yeah." Daisy laughed. "He joked it was incase I was waiting for a written invitation." "Ewwwww...." the auburn-haired doctor scoffed, giggling. Then, she asked her XO. "Seriously - why do you put up with his antics? He's so vulgar and obnoxious." "I like a challenge." Daisy sighed, smiling. "What can I say? He's actually improved tremendously since we've kept him with us..." "Yeah, either that or we've just gotten used to him." Kate teased lightly. "It's actually Maddie and Peter you should worry about." Daisy gently warned her. Kate closed her tricorder and smiled. "You've recovered beautifully and why should I worry about them?" "Well..." Daisy stood up and adjusted the sash of her bathrobe. "They've grown to adore you. They really have...." Kate smiled awkwardly. "Right. Why do you make that sound like a bad thing?" "I love our Captain and our Engineer dearly..." Daisy chuckled. "You know I do. I've risked life and limb for Maddie's sake. I've carried children for Peter and I've killed for him - literally...." "Right....." Kate acknowledged calmly, closing her medical kit. "But, they lack boundaries." Daisy warned her gently. "It's only because they care so much but they...." Kate sat on the bed and nervously prodded Daisy to get to the point. "They what?" Daisy rolled her eyes and sighed. "They meddle." Kate's eyes widened slightly and then she laughed. "Really?" The blonde sniggered. "It's only because they care so much....but you should be aware of this because of Aerdan." Kate suddenly stiffened and went pale. "Hey, I'm not scolding you. He's a great guy and you haven't done anything wrong...." Daisy quickly added. "I'm just warning you people can see the chemistry...the way you guys look at each other. Cade has a pool with some of the nurses about how long it will take before you guys move in together and join Maddie and Peter in their 'creepy cult of monogamy'...." The half-nuimon woman groaned. "Oh, god ..I feel sick." "Calm down." Daisy insisted gently. "You aren't in trouble...you haven't done anything wrong..." "I'm being gossiped about!" Kate scoffed. "Don't flatter yourself that it's personal. Cade gossips about everyone...he's like a child that way" Daisy laughed weakly. Kate huffed. "I still don't like it." "And with Maddie and Peter..." Daisy continued. "they are like having your parents around sometimes. They're going to meddle because they care and they want to protect you and that's not a bad thing in theory...it can just be incredibly annoying." Kate studied Daisy's face thoughtfully for a moment or two and then burst out laughing. "Well, I'm flattered they care...." "Yes..." Daisy chuckled. "Enough to potentially make you want to strangle them sometimes...so you may want to try and be a little more careful....if this relationship continues between you and Aerdan..." "I don't know if I'd really call it a relation..." Daisy chided her. "You know what I mean...Maddie adores him, too - and the two of you will have an argument at some point. You know you will. That's normal. And, Maddie will be like this protective 'motherhen'and notice that Aerdan is unhappy. Then, you'll have an annoyed Vulcan on your doorstep wanting to know why you made her favorite Andorian cry..." Kate plopped backwards onto the bed laughing and covering her face, embarrassed. "And, if...god forbid..." Daisy teased. "If Peter is possitive that Aerdan's done something to hurt you feelings...I can already see him swearing to himself about how he really shouldn't pry and wringing his hands and clutching his pearls before finally stomping after Aerdan and demanding to know what he did to hurt you." Sitting up, Kate gave Daisy a surprised and amused look of horror. "They can really be that bad?" Still laughing, Daisy sighed and nodded. Then, she admitted. "Well, ok...I don't think Peter actually has 'pearls'.....but that's just an expression... you know what I mean, right?" "Yeah." Kate nodded. "And, this is good to know, Daisy...." Kate added thoughtfully. "Thank you." Gavi and Erika stuck their heads out of the next room and the older boy called out. "Time for Breakfast?" Daisy nodded. Then, she smiled. "We're ordering in, Kate. Want to join us?" The half-nuimon nodded and smiled. "I'd love to." _______________________________________________________ NRPG: Ran - TAG!
