Downward Spiral

The night lights along Sydney Harbour took Lynette's eyes by
surprise when she materialized not far from the towering Opera
House, the architectural marvel that enlightened the mid-east coast
of Australia.

She had arrived later than she had said to the others, but that
allowed time for everyone that was coming to arrive. It didn't take long
for her to spot the small
gathering that stood at the steps to the Opera House and moved towards it.

"Hey Everyone. Glad you could make it." Lynette said as she
continued to move towards them.
There were fixed looks and blank stares centered her way as she
joined the gathering attired in a long black silk strapless gown
that had 90% of the human male population mentally drooling.
Alot of the expressions on faces was that of disbelief, they had
known their Flight Officer to be pretty casual and more of a tomboy than
anything and
this tonight surprised them all.

"Lynette, you look absolutely fabulous." Kate's remarked from
Aerdan's side very close.

"Now all I have to say is which twin are you? The Evil one or the
Good one?"

"Nice to see you too, Foster. Been keeping busy causing trouble as
usual."

"You can't keep a good man from his work."

"I just want to say to everyone how glad I am to
see you all. After what we have been through lately
I thought we all could with a nice relaxing night
out... My shout."

"So are we ready?"

The performance of the orchestra was so deep and meaningful. Each
note echoed perfectly enlightening how grand the music was, it
touched Lynette's heart. It seemed like everyone was enjoying the
performance and as it closed to intermission, Lynette wiped a tear
from her eye. She raised from her seat joining the huge applause
that rocked the music hall as the curtain dropped.

Other patrons began to shuffle from their seats towards the exit to
grab a beverage or refresh themselves. She waited for a small crowd
to pass before she got up herself.

As she watched her heart began to ache ever so slightly as she
watched couples arm in arm, smiling
as they filed out. Dozens of them, human and alien, paired together
and this sight made Lynette
feel depressed as she was alone. She had actually felt this for
some time watching day by day on the PROPHECY the couples that were
in her life. Ty and Maddie. Peter and Matthew. Even Kate and
Aerdan were showing signs of a romance between the two of them.

She was messed up, everyone she had been with she had thrown away.
Gotten to used to them, afraid of commitment and then one day it
just clicked and didn't feel right so they were discarded. All of
the men in her life ended up as nothing more than a pound of flesh
that she had fun with. There wasn't anyone she had truly loved in
her life. She was disturbed in this aspect and needed to change.
Needed help.

Scene: Outside Opera House -> Reminisce Nightclub
==================================================

The air was still cold as Lynette stepped from the entrance of the
Opera House and began to descend. Her thoughts were a mess. She
felt like she could not go back inside and so dressed up to a high
degree, Lynette chose a direction and then started walking slowly.
Going wherever her body and mind took her without any pre-determined
thought. Like with the PROPHECY she let the ship, through her
hands, take her to worlds old and new to the likes she had never
been as long as it was away from Earth, from Melbourne... From Home.

Lynette walked under the night lights of the streets of Sydney for
almost an hour when she came upon familiar establishment. A figment
from her youth, she gave a little smile as she looked up at the
large neon sign above the door. **Club Reminisce**

She had visited the club what seemed like a lifetime ago when she
was in her early to mid teenage years. Through her memories,
Lynette stepped through the doors and was amazed by how little it
had changed. The holographic colourful patterns that surrounded the
dance floor, the fast paced music that blared from speakers all
around.

Their were so many memories of her sneaking out, meeting up with her
friends at the club. So many laughs, so many guys she had danced
with on that floor with. Her friends cheering her on as she danced
with 'a real hottie' Lynette was the life of the party and this
what she did at least
once, maybe twice a week. Had never felt so much alivebefore.

Every time it was fresh faces, new guys that she would be dancing
with. This was probably where some it began. Her downward spiral
to her heartache.

"I need a strong drink." Lynette said in a gruff tone. "And don't
give me any of that synthehol crap. Real stuff." The barman, who
was only about 18-19 years old, took the hint.

"Bourbon, tall glass." The barman nodded and went to fetch her real,
non-synthenol, strong drink. She turned around to look at the club
scene behind her. Though what she saw was many eyes, most male,
glancing some starting at her. It felt good she had to admit all
these eyes watching her as leant against the bar still clothed in
her long black gown.

"One Borboun, tall glass." The barman said as he laid down the glass
on the bar. Lynette turned back around and immediately took a
taste. She felt the strong liquid course down her throat. It felt
wonderful, it felt comforting.

And then it began... like those many years ago it started again.
The downward spiral.

=========================
Time Index: 2 Hours later
=========================

Her mind was filled with confusion, no focus, nothing past tomorrow.
All she could think of was the here and now. Her body moved fast
and gracefully on the dance floor to the music. Young men and women
surrounding her, dancing along.

She felt alive, felt awesome and unstoppable. That was four
bourbons later.

The song ended and Lynette stumbled over to a sofa, laughing all the
way. She needed to sit down, her feet burning from all the dancing.

Taking her shoes off, she was just aware of a figure standing over
her and once her eyes met with his, she burst out laughing.

"Well isn't it the arrogant and irrepressiable Cade Foster. What
are you doing here?" Lynette was abundant with smiles and her eyes
looked as if they had glassed over.

"I needed a drink and a place with lots of beautiful women." Cade
said in his usual wit.

"You've come to the right place."

"You're drunk." Cade's expression changed, even the tone in his
voice. His whole demeanor. There was no wit, no sarcasm in his
tone, but concern. Pure concern. He was worried.

"That's right, that's me. Where I needed to be." Lynette said
having trouble taking her final shoe off, giggling all the way.

"Come on. I'm taking you home." A look of determination appeared on
Foster's face.

"Like hell you are. There is no way I'm going back there."

Lynette's mood changed as she lashed out standing up quickly she
began to feel queazy.

"Oh god... I don't feel good."

"I'm taking you to my place... and you can have a nice sleep
somewhere comfortable instead passed out on the floor here." Lynette
nodded as Cade took her under his arm and walked her out of the
club.

========================
Location: SEATTLE, EARTH
Scene: Cade's Apartment
========================

The door to Cade's apartment opened and they both hobbled in.
Foster carried haphazardly to the couch where he laid her down.
Lynette was still very groggy and nauseous.

"Glad we got here quick. You weigh almost a ton to carry."

"I feel like I'm carrying a ton. My head is swimming." Lynette was
holding her head. The drink was finally having a bad effect on her,
her thoughts all confused and disorientated and she began to lay
down on the couch.

"Wait here, I'll get some blankets for you." Cade began to walk away
when Lynette called for him.

"Cade." He turned and walked back to her when she called out.

"Thanks for being there." Lynette reached up and gave him a quick
hug and a kiss on the cheek. But when she embraced him, she
couldn't hold back there was a whole desirability in the moment and
that is when she kissed him. Cade was shocked and had thoughts to
break away, but he returned the kiss and that was when her brain
switched off and she let herself go.

Location: France, Paris
Scene: Daisy's hotel suite
Time index: Next morning
================

Gavi and Erika stuck their heads out of the next room and the older
boy called out. "Time for Breakfast?"

Daisy nodded. Then, she smiled. "We're ordering in, Kate. Want to
join us?"

The half-nuimon nodded and smiled.

"I'd love to."

Daisy's mind wandered after the food came.

She picked at her pancakes and daydreamed Ben was there, teasing her
gently about the tattoo.

She'd made up a story for her children's benefit about the lizard
tattoo on her shoulder being
from a book she'd read during her pregnancy and kept the truth to
herself.

The XO smiled discreetly, remembering the pet Lizard Ben kept in his
quarters on the PATRIOT.
It was exactly like the small Tattoo on her shoulder.

Everything else had been the same after her brief, passionate
reunion with Ben. She'd not
said a word to anyone and gone back to her life and her work like
nothing had happened.
It just felt "better" having something be "different" - even if it
was only a silly little tattoo on her shoulder.

She snapped back to reality when Erika yelled. "Mommy! I was asking
what we're going to do
today?"

"Can we go to Mars?" Gavi asked.

Kate grinned. "Mars?"

"Yeah!" Gavi laughed. "Utopia planitia!"

"Actually...." Daisy sighed. "We'll probably have to head back to
GATEWAY soon - so we
should definately squeeze in whatever adventure today that we can."

Erika shrugged. "Gateway's cool. I like their water park."

"And what about you, Kate? Are you looking forward to getting back
to our normal lives?"
Daisy asked the half-Nuimon physician. "Do you miss your sickbay?
Can you believe we haven't
been on our ship in....what's it been now? We haven't been on our
own ship in almost four
months...."

Kate nodded. "Mind boggling, isn't it?"

Daisy's hand went to her comm badge and she thought briefly of Ben,
wishing he'd call.
Her stomach fluttered like a stupid school girl and she excused
herself.

Just a minute...I think I need a new one of these..."

She walked to a wall panel and accessed the hotel's comm system from
there.

"Hello, Front desk?"

[[ "Hello, Commander Davidson" ]]

"Just wanting to test to see if my private comm badge is working.
Any messages left
for me while I was sleeping?"

Her comm badge beeped, confirming it was working as the front desk
hailed her.

[[ "No messages for you, Sir." ]]

Daisy smiled weakly and pretended she couldn't care in the
slightest.

"Alright, thank you."

Kate frowned briefly. "Were you expecting to hear from someone?"

Daisy smiled and shrugged. "Oh, you never know."

Then, the front door chime rang and Daisy walked to answer it.

The door swooshed open and there stood Lynette.....

Daisy casually smiled and asked, "Hey, there. You like Pancakes?"

The expression on Lynette's was blank and her complexion was not the
most healthy. The usual tanned tinges on her cheeks were near
white. She was frowning and her eyes were red as if she had been
crying. Daisy's smile changed when she realized.

"Come in sit down." Daisy said with all welcoming pleasantries and
Lynette step by step walked in and saw Kate and almost backtracked
outside the door again.

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have come I'm interrupting."

"Not at all, now get your butt in here and tell me what's wrong."
Lynette relented as Daisy insisted in that authoritive tone she
used.

"Can we talk in private?" Lynette felt a little uncomfortable with
the room packed. She needed a deep and meaningful discussion and
needed quiet. She had alot to get off her chest.

"Um...sure. Kate, could you keep the kids company for a little
bit."

"Sure." Kate smiled not a problem in her eyes as she rounded

Erika and Gavi to the kitchen. "Come on kids, Pancakes!"

"Now what's wrong?" Daisy sat beside her and asked.

Lynette explained last night's episode, her drinking, out of control
dancing, but it was the final bit that surprised Daisy most of all.

"It's terrible. I wasn't sure what to think. I was freaking out.
I don't remember much." Lynette stood up from the couch and began
pacing around the room, her mind wracked with guilt and confusion.

"It was a huge shock, I woke up in his bed and was freaking out. I
got dressed and made a quick break. I didn't know where to go, but
I knew where you were staying. I needed someone to talk to."

"That's fine. But who's bed?" Daisy was concerned and curious.

Lynette took a deep breath. Many times she would open her mouth,
but no sound came out. It was a difficult thing to say.

"I think I slept with Cade."
