"Is Giving Cade A Job A Good Idea?"
(Continued from: Tay's "75")
##################

Location: FEREDHIR
Stardate: 2.70403.1254
Scene: Office

Maddie had been given a room on FEREDHIR which she was
using as an office. She'd set the lighting at 75% and
a mug of Vulcan coffee was steaming on a corner. She
was comfortably settled in a large chair and PADDs
littered the console and she was reading one when
there was a knock on her door.

"Come." The Vulcan hybrid called, and tossed the PADD
back onto her desk. She rose to greet her guests,
"Aerdan, Arjan." She smiled, "I'm pleased you came.
How were your rooms?"

"Not too bad fortunately." Aerdan replied, "Still
distressing though."

"Indeed." She sat back down and calmly regarded the
two Andorans sitting opposite her. Apart from their
blue skins and white hair, the two men were very
distinctive from one another. Her gaze rested on
Arjan Jos. "It is you I wish to discuss a matter of
extreme delicacy with Dr Jos. However, as your
brother is familiar with certain matters I felt it
appropriate that Aerdan should join us for this
discussion."

The brothers exchanged puzzled glances and then
regarded the hybrid.

"I can see that I have intrigued you both." This
seemed to amuse Maddie and she settled back
comfortably into her chair. "Arjan." Suddenly she
paused, "I can call you Arjan or do you prefer more
formality?"

"At present Arjan is acceptable." The more formal of
the brothers agreed.

"Very well. Arjan, this matter which I am about to
speak with you on is a matter of extreme secrecy.
However, do not feel that you should make a decision
immediately. Take time to give my proposal some
serious consideration and discuss it with Aerdan."

"You are seriously intriguing me now Captain."

"I prefer Maddie or Mad'hron if you must." The Vulcan
hybrid responded softly. "As you know your brother
serves on the USS SHAMERAN..."

"Obviously." Arjan nodded but looked faintly puzzled,
his antenna twisting in the air.

"There is no obviously about it Arjan." Maddie
glanced once at Aerdan to gauge his reaction and then
fixed her attention firmly back on Arjan. "The USS
SHAMERAN is a fake. It does not and will never exist.
Your brother and I serve together on a completely
secret and hidden vessel."

She paused to gather her thoughts. "I will not
disclose all of the information at this time.
However, if you agree to my proposal you will be fully
briefed."

"And your proposal is?"

"It has been suggested by Starfleet, that my vessel
carries a compliment of civilian observers and
scientists on board. After all the main crew are all
trained to serve in Starfleet and we have certain
restrictions placed upon us."

"Whereas civilians would be allowed more freedom?"

"Exactly so." Maddie smiled. "My proposal is that
you become one of those civilians."

Arjan nodded, "Who else?"

"So far?"

Even Aerdan looked intrigued by this turn of events.

"Cade Foster." Maddie was watching her Science
Officer's face and caught the laughter flare in his
eyes.

"Does he know?"

"Not yet." The Vulcan hybrid admitted, "That is my
next job."

Arjan nodded once more, "Anyone else?"

"Yes, her name is Walla." Maddie lifted the PADD from
the desk, "This is her bio." She held it carefully
and regarded Arjan, "I am giving you this information
as a token of my trust. This biography is strictly
confidential. You may not ask where she is from...."

"Unless I agree to your proposal."

"Even so." Maddie nodded, "The other two members of
this team at present are T'halian and Qvar."

Aerdan looked at his Captain, "I could point out that
they have all been with us in the past. Although I do
not recall somebody called Walla."

"You wouldn't." Maddie sighed, "She served with us
before your time. However, she is an intriguing
individual." She glanced between the two Andorans.
"These people have been chosen because of their links
with our crew."

Aerdan had been reading the PADD meanwhile containing
Walla's bio. "And I cannot ask any questions about
this individual?"

"No." Maddie placed her hands on her desk, "At this
moment in time, and until I have your agreement, I
cannot answer any personal questions on this
individual."

"How long do I have to decide?"

"Till tomorrow." She looked once more between the
brothers, "You may discuss this proposal with Aerdan,
and Aerdan you may freely answer your brother any of
his questions. However, please bare in mind the
nature of our ship."

Aerdan inclined his head, "I shall be as descreet as
ever."

"I have every confidence in you Aerdan." Maddie
regarded the blue skinned man for a few minutes, "If
you, yourself, wish to discuss this matter with me. I
am available."

Aerdan nodded and rose to his feet. Arjan looked at
Maddie for a few minutes. "This is an intriguing
offer."

"I know." She sat back in her chair, "But take time
to consider it. If you accept you'll be changing your
life for a considerable time."

The two Andorans took their leave and Drake stepped
from the shadows.

"Do you think he'll accept?" Her ILO asked.

"I have no idea." Maddie leant back, "Why exactly are
you in here?"

"Training." He supplied.

"Really?" The Vulcan hybrid calmly regarded her old
friend, "Or over protectiveness on my crew's part?"

"Maybe that too." Drake admitted and leant on the
corner of her desk. "Whoever, broke into the rooms
knew what they were doing."

"Obviously."

"They are not clever enough for us though." Drake
sounded pleased with himself.

"Really?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Yep, we have pictures of Rennermen and another male
leaving our hotel, from the camera across the street."

"Apart from winding our Lynette up the wrong way, do
we know who he is?"

"Not currently." Drake sounded frustrated, "Most of
my contacts are drawing a boring back ground on the
man."

"Corrupted?"

"Not that we can find at the moment."

"Alright, let's keep him busy here at the moment. If
we're all seen out and about doing stuff that looks
suspiscious it might draw him out."

Drake nodded, "I know that Peter has some sort of plan
to get him off of our backs for a while."

"Oh dear, now why does that fill me with dread?"

"Have you two finished?" Cade moaned from the door
way, "Cos this ape here is crushing my arm."

Matthew snorted, "Well if you'd behaved yourself this
would never have been a problem to start off with."

"How many times...." Cade groaned.

"Alright that's enough." Maddie rose to her feet,
"Drake keep digging. Cade sit. Matthew go and get
some rest."

The three men obediently did as they were bidden.

"So my Queen?" He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.

"Cade?" Maddie leant back against her desk and
regarded the older man, "Do you ever take anything
seriously?"

"Not if I can help it." He sounded smug.

"Well you'll be pleased to know that I have received
your next posting."

"I'm no longer in Starfleet." Cade crossed his arms
over his chest, "I retired remember."

"Tough." Maddie copied his gesture, "It has been
decided, for you, that you are too valuable an asset
to be allowed to go to seed."

"At least someone around here realises what I'm
worth." Cade huffed.

"Yes indeed." Mad'hron tried to hide her smile,
"Anyway you are being attached back to the PROPHECY."

"Oh no." He looked like he was about to throw a
tempertanturm. "I thought I'd escaped all this cloak
and dagger stuff."

Maddie calmly ignored him, "You are to be part of a
new civilian team on our ship." She handed Cade a
PADD, "These are the rest of the team."

"Who's in charge?"

"Technically, that would be you, as you've served in
Starfleet." Maddie wagged a finger under his nose,
"However, I can't see Qvar and Walla allowing you to
push them around."

"Who the hell is Walla?"

"A friend of mine." Maddie did start laughing now,
"I'd make sure you have a bursh in your department."

"What equipment will I have?" Cade immediately became
business like, "And what exactly will we be doing?"

"The same sort of things that we do, but with you
being civillians...."

Cade nodded, "I can understand that." He rose to his
feet, "I cannot get my department ready if I'm in the
Brig Maddie."

"I know." She steepled her fingers, and regarded the
older man. "I believe that you were misguided with
Lynette. However, I also think that Daisy went off
the handle just slightly. So keep your COMM Badge on
at ALL times, so we can keep an eye on you and you may
consider yourself on bail."

Cade looked slightly relieved.

"However, step over that line Cade, and you'll go
straight back into the Brig."

"I understand." Cade headed towards the door,
suddenly he became all business like, "Where's Ty?"

"I believe that SAHRIV is docked just next door."
Maddie watched the older man disappear down the
corrider and shook her head in amusement.

NRPG: Alright just starting to get some new ideas for
the PROPHECY sorted. This civillian unit is not set
in stone, so if any of you wish to bring along a new
NPC that we can all have fun with then please let me
know. BTW I am going to try and do a post with
everyone over the next few days, any hints as to what
you'd like Mads and your character to discuss would be
appreciated.

Jamie: I left it open as to whether or not you wished
Arjan to become a permenant fixture on the PROPH.
