========= "Re-Strategizing" Con't from Matt's "You've Got Questions?" ========= Location: USS PATRIOT Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0603.1010 Scene: CO's Ready Room "Come in," Ben said, looking up along with Maverick as Daniel Clarkson walked into the room and stood at attention. "You wanted to see me sir?" he asked. "Yes Major, at ease," Kenta said. Daniel relaxed slightly and looked at the two of them expectantly. Since Helice had beamed down to the surface, Kenta had temporarily assumed the role of Commanding Officer and likewise Maverick had temporarily assumed the role of Executive Officer. "It looks like we're going to start getting some refugees from some of the low lying areas of EARTH," Kenta remarked. "With the billions of people on EARTH, the emergency evacuation is going to involve all of the ships and stations in the area; Starfleet has even gone so far as to do an emergency recall of some of the ships in the area in order to help with that." "I understand sir," Daniel answered. "The refugees will begin beaming over soon; in the interim, I want you to make sure that you liaise with security to come up with a plan to keep some semblance of order on the ship. We still need to figure out exactly how to fix the situation at hand and to do that our officers need to be able to travel back and forth around the ship unencumbered." "Yes sir," Daniel answered, nodding his head. "That will be all for now," Ben said. "Dismissed, Major." ============ Time Index: 10 minutes later Scene: Marine Deck "What's up Daniel?" Morris asked, looking up from the PADD he'd been reading as Daniel made his entrance onto the marine deck. "We need to get our stuff together and keep order when we get a load of civilians beamed over to the ship in the next few hours," Daniel answered. "From what I understand, Kenta and Mav are going to be coming up with a plan for where they can stay and we have to figure out a way to cover all those areas with marine and security forces to make sure the rest of the ship can do their job." "Fun as always," Morris quipped. "Want me to get all the remaining troops together?" "Please do," Daniel answered. "And get the head of security to come down here if you can," he added over his shoulder as he walked into the duty office and quickly brought up a schematic of the ship. He looked at it thoughtfully for a good five minutes as he speculated as to the locations that the civilians would get put in once they arrived. The cargo bays were always an option, as were the shuttle bays and even the primary and secondary sickbays. There were certainly a lot of options; perhaps more than the security and marine forces on the ship could cover without stretching themselves out thin. He leaned back in the chair, shaking his head to himself. "Things never get any easier," he muttered, calling up the security manifest on the ship and doing some number counts in the process. Morris stuck his head in the door briefly. "The troops should be fully assembled here in twenty minutes," he said. "And I talked to somebody in the security department. They assured me that the Chief of Security was already on the way here." "That's the first good news I've heard in awhile Lieutenant; thanks," Daniel said, not looking up from where he was quickly making notes on the strength of the security forces. ========= NRPG: Just moving things along slightly. ========== Rahul Chandra <vrccan_at_gmail.com> Major Daniel Clarkson, MD Marine Executive Officer USS PATRIOT From HyperNews_at_youth.net
