============ "Rational Thought is for Wusses" Con't from Taylor's "82" ============ Location: USS PATRIOT Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0711.2154 Scene: Bridge <Note: For purposes of keeping the timeline intact, let's say Naomi's post took place after Taylor's post, so the scene with Mav in Sickbay happens before the scene with Mav in the corridor with Cal> Cal exited onto the bridge breathlessly, excited in spite of herself at the idea that had come into her head. "Commander!" Kenta looked up from where he had been sitting in the center chair and gave her a questioning expression. "I know how we can solve the problem," Cal said. As quickly and concisely as she could, she went ahead and explained the idea as she's tried to explain it to Maverick. The two men, neither having as strong a background in theoretical astrophysics as Cal did, had to prompt her for more information at certain intervals. Eventually, she got them to the point where she felt they at least basically knew what she was suggesting. "What do you need to happen to make it work?" Kenta asked. "A lot of ships and the people off the planet," Cal replied. Kenta nodded his head, having expected that comment. He turned to Maverick. "Start the mass evacuation of the planet; I want everyone off there within the hour." He turned back to Cal. "Start co-ordinating with the other ships. I want you to be able to start doing this soon after the planet has been evacuated." "Yes sir," Cal answered, nodding her head. After the frustration of the last few days, finally having something to work towards was a breath of fresh air indeed. =========== Scene: Sickbay 2nd Lieutenant Josh Morris entered the sickbay, having returned from his assignment on one of the support craft the PATRIOT had launched. He walked over to the two biobeds, both containing unconscious marines and shook his head slightly at the sight. There was Kyle Calhoun; ward of Colonel Maverick and currently unconscious from heat exhaustion. And beside him on the other biobed was Daniel Clarkson; unconscious and on life support from getting an unlucky dagger right to the top of his spinal chord. "What are the chances that either of them are going to be up and about soon?" Morris asked Dr. Dugan, who had been monitoring Kyle's vital signs and taking notes on a PADD. Tessa shook her head. "It's hard to say," she said. "With Calhoun, it seems a bit more likely than with Clarkson though. If we can regulate the level of fluids within Calhoun's body, then we should be able to get him to regain consciousness." She frowned. "With Clarkson, the only way we can do things would be to repair the damaged spinal tissue. Unfortunately, the procedure to do that for the upper spinal areas is still in the experimental stage and therefore to do it we would need either the permission of his mother or his wife." Morris shook his head. "I don't expect either of them will be around anytime soon," he said. "The better hope is to probably try and find his mother when all this mess calms down." "Perhaps," Tessa replied noncommittally. "Do you know where she lives?" "In Minnesota, last I checked," Morris replied. "Who knows where she is now." Tessa nodded in understanding. "Well, the biobed can keep him alive for now, but sooner or later we're going to have to do something." ========= NRPG: The second scene is total filler. The first scene is to set Naomi up for an excellent post she will write sometime in the next few days or so. Also, I have no idea what the title has to do with the post =D ========= Rahul Chandra <vrccan_at_gmail.com> Major Daniel Clarkson, MD Marine Executive Officer USS PATRIOT From HyperNews_at_youth.net
