"More Arrivals" Con't from Rahul's "Arrival" Location: COUNTERSTRIKE Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 0829.1948 Scene: Bridge Catherine tapped her fingers against the console. She was bored, and feeling a little hamstrung. As they expected the blimp on the Counterstrike's sensors really did seem to be just that. No matter how carefully Catherine had tweaked the sensors and boosted the signal the sensors didn't detect anything more then a shadow. So she was stuck minding the backs of the away teams. In some ways, she didn't mind. It was peaceful up on the ship. There was no one else here, no presence she had to mind. Just pure solitude. She kept an eye on the sensors trained to the ground. Now, the only time she would relax and be at total peace was if the away team returned. Her eyes flicked out into the atmosphere of the planet. There was a heavy cloud cover rolling in over the land mass in the southern hemisphere. It would prove to be a good cloak. Sterling-Jade sat up straighter at the controls and took the Counterstrike from geostable orbit. She nudged the starship down into the outer atmosphere, and immediately began to counter some shuddering of the controls. The woman took firmer control of the ship and forced it to maintain a smooth, even decent. The thickened, heavier atmosphere and gravity was making for a rough ride, but she handled it with easy skill. She reached across to the co-pilot's control and toggled the scanners as she navigated down into the column of columbus cloud. The Counterstrike rocked on its axis and Catherine countered the action. Using the cloud cover, she was trying to get close enough to the ground to detect the away team. She toggled the communications channel. "Sterling to away team." She got a blast of radio static for her trouble. The woman frowned and quickly checked the cloud depth. Swiftly, she lowered the ship to just over two thousand meters above the ground, still hidden away from sight. The planet's gravity was making the ship heavy, and sluggish to her touch. Catherine looked again at the sensor display and sighed. And then grinned. She got the life sign readout. She had located the away team. There was a familiar number of dots clustered around in a group, in what appeared to be a big, empty space. Her elation was very short lived. She blinked her eyes, trying to dispel the illusion she had seen. It didn't work. She snapped the comms channel open. "Sterling to Kenta. Your position is being surrounded by a dozen.no two dozen.more lift signs." The woman began to scramble for a sensor lock as the number of possible unfriendlies unexpectedly and exponentially increased into the several dozens, then into a hundred. [[We know.]] Ben's voice was static charged, but audible. [[Stand down, Lieutenant.]] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NRPG: Tag Naomi Lara Lt. J.G.
