"Flight to Freedom"

Con't from Ken's "Curtain Call"

Location: GATEWAY STATION
Stardate: 2422 [2.7] 1412.2230

Scene: Promenade

Daniel was taking a sip of water as he hurried down the promenade deck. It
was lightly crowed, with wounded people heading towards sickbay, and crew
members and civilians who were a little dazed and disorientated over the
recent events.

"Major!" Daniel turned and saw Maverick striding towards him.

"Colonel." Clarkson replied in greeting as they resumed walking. "We've
checked most of the lower decks, and are just finishing up on sections one
thru four of the promenade deck." He quickly gave his superior officer a
status report.

"We've had reports of rioting." Bret said with a frown. There was no
evidence of it now, but crowds were a fickle thing. One second it was
peaceful, and then next, incredibly violent. Security and the marines had
already broken up several scuffles, but it was only a matter of time before
things really erupted. The fight with the Dominion had taken the edge of a
lot of the hostilities within the station, but there resentment was there.

"We're working on it." Daniel confirmed. "I've got three teams breaking up
the civilians and sending them off. I would recommend that station security
might want to impose martial law. It'll be safer for everyone." He
suggested, warily watching a group of young males. Walking together with
Mav, they got the hint and dispersed. The problem is that they would
regroup elsewhere in a matter of minutes.

"It's not a Starfleet installation in their eyes anymore, do that and
they'll turn on us." Maverick muttered, stepping over broken shards of
glass. The shop had been looted of its wares, there was no point organising
security to protect what was left. "There's at least one Founder on board
Gateway." He added after a moment.

Daniel missed a step. "What?"

Maverick filled in the Major with the latest developments. "Commander
McInnes killed one that was apparently posing as Xana Bonviva. And where
there's one, there's probably more. McInnes also didn't survive the
encounter."

"Eyes peeled, sir." Daniel nodded and inwardly frowned. This certinally
complicated matters and made things that much more dangerous.

Maverick sighed and eyed the length of the corridor. He was going to have
to get back to Operations and help out Kenta. "Check everyone. I've got
Catherine looking over vids, trying to see if anyone shapeshifts."

"The chances of her catching anything like that would be one in a trillion."
Daniel pointed out, feeling obliged to stick up for his wife.

"Probably, but it'll stop her from climbing the walls."

Clarkson felt a stab of sympathy for her. Maverick was right, she would be
going nuts cooped up in her office. For someone so active to be confined to
the Patriot while all this was going on was just cruel. "If we have a
Founder, she'll be better here."

"Until Kenta okays it, she's staying put." The Colonel replied as Daniel's
com badge chirped.

[[Alpha to Clarkson. Section one done.]] The alpha team leader reported
with an update of their progress to date.

"Continue forward to two." Daniel ordered. Maverick gestured for Clarkson
to continue and he turned around to head back to Operations.

[[Understood.]]

The First was none too happy. The Vorta they were searching for had been
transferred to the Honshu. One discovering that intelligence the Founder
had changed the battle plan. He needed to get off the station, and after
that, the Jem'Hadar were to try and release the Vorta from the Honshu.

Thanks to the heavy damage to the station, the internal scanners had yet to
detect their presence, so they could move with relative ease provided they
did not encounter any persons.

Those they did come across they killed quickly and efficiently. It would
ultimately betray their presence, but not before they could get the Founder
off the ship. And to do that, they would secure themselves one of the cargo
freighters docked to the station that couldn't escape due to the Dominion
blockade.

They stood outside a maintenance entrance to a docking ring. They had
focused their attack on one of the non-damaged sections. Unnecessarily
people would be working to repair the damaged sections instead of loitering
here.

Auran coalesced amongst the Jem'Hadar and simply nodded. First ordered that
the group move out. Two Jem'Hadar stepped forward while the others lowered
their weapons, and waiting until the door was wrenched open before
unleashing hell.

NRPG: Another one.

Thanks to all for helping me get a grip on what's happened on the station in
the recent past! I am also amazed at the depth, creativity and how well
crafted the posts have been. Keep it up!

Sorry if I got the docking section info wrong, I am literally winging things
