LJ was miserable everytime his little brother followed hm around the house. Daisy had hopes that the boys could both recover from their shared past and manage to atleast be friends.

  It wasn't happening yet, though.

The younger of the Lawrence boys looked sadly at how LJ seemed to "fit" so nicely with Erika and Gavirosh - but could barely stand to be around him.

A smart kid, LJ would notice Wangel Erek watching him and worrying. He finally used his comm padd to communicate with Erika and Gavirosh that he'd really
appreciate it if they entertained JT themselves.

It seemed to ease Wangel Erek's mood a bit as JT, Erika and Gavirosh bundled up to go play outside in the snow. JT would sigh and moan about LJ's distance. "He hates me" until Daisy's younger children started throwing snowballs, making jokes and assuring
him, "Just be patient. When he first came to live with us - it took Mom days just to get him to stop hiding in the bathroom. "

The troubled teen might have continued sulking about, occasionally glancing out the window at JT with Erika and Gavi, and retreating back into himself all together if it hadn't been for
Tyler's younger brother, Matthew. Tyler and Wangel Erek were noticing these
"looks" between the teenage boys when a messages began arriving from Wangel Erek.

Some were from his friends at Starfleet about the Celestial Temple and Starfleet's recent activity in the Gamma Quadrant. Another was from Daisy herself. The handsome Bajoran's face contorted with worry as he sat at a desk and watched an already recorded
transmission from Daisy begin playing. Tyler hovered in the background, occasionally peeking around the corner, hoping to hear something about Kyle and Mav.

The three youngest children had pink and runny noses by the time they came in from the cold. LJ and Matthew came downstairs just as the younger children were taking off their hats and gloves. Gavi helped Erika with her jacket as Wangel Erek and Tyler
approached with serious looks on their faces.

"Kids, you all need to sit down...." Tyler began.

"Yes." Wangel Erek concurred. "We have news about Daisy...."

LJ's eyes widened and the first thing that occurred to him was that Daisy was gone. Something had happened in battle and they'd never be together again, never return to the
STONEHENGE, never be like they were before. He saw it clearly just then, Daisy
was gone and they'd never be a family.

Matthew turned to LJ as the boy staggered backwards up the steps, a strangled groan escaping his lips.

"LJ?"  Matthew gasped.

Wangel Erek blinked, surprised. "No, son....I didn't mean that anything bad had happened..."

Not hearing him, LJ scrambled to run up the stairs - imagining he'd never see his Foster Mother again. Wangel Erek scurried past Matthew and the other kids followed
until they were all gathered outside the locked door of an upstairs bathroom.

Finally, Tyler got a comm padd from his room and they began replaying some of Daisy's transmission. The sound of her voice in the hallway got LJ to finally open the door until,
finally, they were able to have the conversation Tyler and Erek had hoped to have
in the livingroom downstairs.

The bond that had grown between 14 year old Matthew and 15 year old LJ was rather obvious from the way Matthew wrapped his arm around LJ's shoulder as Wangel Erek assured the teenager Daisy was very much alive and they'd see her again soon.
It simply wouldn't be on either the USS STONEHENGE or the USS PATRIOT as they'd thought.

Gavirosh whispered in Erika's ear. "LJ's got a boyfriend".

Tyler noticed the looks between Matthew and LJ with some amusement - but focused more on JT. The younger boy missed Mav and Kyle terribly and felt utterly ignored by his
older brother. Tyler hugged the kid and asked, "How about we go
downstairs and make some cookies, huh? "

     Wangel Erek perked a brow curiously as the COMM
system flashed the incoming subspace message yet
again. He couldn’t quite figure out who it would be
from, and both eyebrows went up in surprise as a
familiar, if unexpected face came across the
viewscreen.  “Cade Foster… I must say I didn’t expect
you to call.”

     The human physician was sitting in his quarters,
as he ran a hand though his thinning hair. {{Well, I
was actually, hell… I don’t quite know why I called.}}

     The Bajoran man leaned back in his chair, and
ventured a guess. “You were looking for Daisy?”

     {{Maybe.}} Cade replied, evasively. {{That and
I wouldn’t mind talking to LJ.}}

     “LJ?” Erek asked, somewhat, but not thoroughly
surprised.

     {{Yeah, as in the teenage kid with the guitar.}}
Dr. Foster snapped back, he sighed a little before he
let his tone soften. {{I do like the kids, you know.
And he’s a bright boy. I had been teaching him some
basic first aid before Commander Davidson left… he
took well to it.}} His voice had a funny, unnaturally
formal tone when he said the words ‘Commander
Davidson’ as if he preferred not so see her as a
uniformed officer.

     “This move has been hard on him.” Wangel Erek
remarked calmly. He was somewhat surprised to watch
Cade Foster’s expression soften into one of empathy.

     {{Do you think he’d want to talk to me?}}

     Slowly the Bajoran got to his feet. “I don’t
know.  Let me ask.”

  Jamie and Taylor - thanks for your help! :)

  Margie - do you want this to go in the STONEHENGE archive? Or should Jamie
  cut and paste this scene into a seperate post formatted just for the HENGE archive?

  Everyone - I know this is very short - but I wanted to put in only a brief appearance because Erik said he was coming back from a week on vacation and struggling to catch up. And, I didn't want to get in the way of writers like Erik, Taylor and Peter, Shawn and Katrina... who are much better than me at writing Space battle action! LOL

  I'm also hoping to see a post from Jasmina.... TAG!!! :)

  OH, and Taylor?  TAG! :)
