Time: Prior to Daniel reaching Sickbay
Daniel would shake his head and laugh softly every few steps of their
journey, occasionally muttering under his breath. He caught her eye and
smirked as she hurriedly changed back into her training outfit of black
pants and tank top.
“Daisy flattened you?” He finally asked her as they left the parlour.
Catherine bit back a growl. “Yes.” She slung her bag over her shoulder
and gave the other one a shrug. It felt as good as new – Daisy was as
good as her word. Maybe it was that ointment also, but she felt as if
she was moving a little better.
Their training session had started easily enough. They began with a
warm up – which meant a good two kilometer run, followed by active and
passive stretching. At first, Sterling was a little underwhelmed by
Davidson. Catherine had to force her to complete the run, constantly
pushing the woman. And then with stretches…Davidson could barely touch
her toes with straight legs.
“Daisy flattened you?” Clarkson asked her again, disbelieving of the
very fact. It just seemed ludicrous.
“Daniel….” The woman warned softly.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry.” Daniel appeared mollified for a few
minutes, and they walked in silence. That was interrupted when he
issued a bark of laughter. “I just can’t believe it…she flattened
you.” He saw her stricken look and hugged her. Aww, come here.”
After the warm up and stretching, Catherine began to test Daisy’s
defenses. First with a little slow sparring. She prodded and tested
the other woman’s range and capabilities. Sterling went easy at first,
going at snail’s pace and holding a lot of power back, before slowly
cracking up speed and power.
It wouldn’t do to hurt the CO of Gateway Station.
Daisy proved capable at the beginner levels of defense, so Catherine
began to mix things up. Punching, strikes, kicking and grappling. Not
really easy stuff, more like the sort of things that would take place in
a fight. That was when things started to go a little pear shaped.
“How did she do it?” Daniel was asking, forcing Catherine’s mind back
to the present.
“I think I can replicate the move. Want to find out first hand?” She
asked him.
Daniel chuckled and held up his hands in mock surrender. “No, it’s
okay. Really.”
Catherine ran over the event in her mind, analyzing it from her
perspective. “I punched, She just deflected it and grabbed my wrist,
turned away, lengthening my arm out and rotating it. She then stuck her
knee into my shoulder and dropped me to the ground with her body
weight.” At about that point Sterling had felt the muscles and
ligaments tear under the strain. If she had rolled with the move, she
would have walked unscathed. Sterling, however, was never one to roll
with anything. She had resisted the pressure Daisy had exerted on her
shoulder and tried to yank herself free. That was when she felt pain
strong enough to make her yelp. “That little impressive maneuver nearly
twisted my shoulder off. I didn’t see it coming.”
“That’s my girl.” Clarkson kissed the top of her head as he
simultaneously cajoled and teased her. “You beat the crap out of
Jem’Hadar and then you get beaten by Daisy.”
Jade sighed. “It was a lucky shot. I was complacent and cocky.
Ultimately, I got careless.”
“’You get careless, you get dead’.”
The genetically engineered soldier paused in her walk and looked at her
husband with a scowl on her face. “I’m always telling you that.”
“Funny how it comes back and bites you.”
She smiled sweetly. “Want a black eye with that bloody nose?”
“How about we just get to sickbay, eh?”

Ming replied, watching Maury with a benign expression. {{Yes, it has
been.}} He replied, smoothing out his high collared jacket. {{Did you
happen to get that bottle of Aurlien whiskey? I would be a shame if
that little spat prevented you from receiving it.}} He asked curiously.
The Professor inclined his head politely. He indeed had the dusty old
crystal flash of whiskey. There was no doubt as to its authenticity.
“Exquisite vintage Ming, and very rare. I heard there was only one
bottle in existence.”
{{Well, my friend, it is in your possession. I hope you will enjoy
it.}} The El Aurian replied, his dark eyes glinted fathomlessly.
“I will when I come across a repast fitting enough to honour it.” Maury
replied with a faint smile a he clapped his hands together. “What can I
do for you?” Everything always came down to business for them.
{{There is nothing for you to do. This was simply a…courtesy call, if
you will. I will be traveling to Trellan space and entering into some
dialogue. I will be quite heavily involved, so I am just asking for you
to keep an eye on things while I am indisposed. You do an admirable job
of it already.}} Ming didn’t tell Maury why he was going to the Trellan
system – or even if that were his real destination. It wasn’t for Maury
to know, and the Professor was not foolish enough to pry for further
information.
“But of course, it would be my pleasure.” The man replied, while his
mind churned over various possibilities. **What is that old coot up to
now?** He thought to himself, while keeping his expression blank. He
would have to contemplate this move carefully.
Joran nodded his head slightly. {{Very good. Once negotiations are
completed, I may come and see you in person, Professor. I sometimes
feel that conversations over subspace are a little impersonal.}}
“If you have the time, I look forward to seeing you.” Maury hid away
the smile that threatened to creep over his features. The puppetmaster
was looking away for a couple of weeks, it would give Maury
opportunities he could now exploit. Life was good.

“What a mess.” Daniel sighed miserably as he stepped onto the Patriot
and they navigated the corridors through the battered ship. The repair
process was well underway, and in a matter of days, she would be back to
normal. Workers were crawling all over her in a frenzied attempt to
accomplish the deadline.
Sterling ducked under a loose conduit cover. “At least the bulkheads
aren’t in immediate danger of imploding.” She commented with a smile.
“Captain, Lieutenant.” The foreman of the engineering group in that
section noticed the two officers and nodded in acknowledgement.
Daniel stepped over a toolkit. “Well, I better start getting sickbay
reorganized, and restocked.” It would be tedious, hard work, but
necessary as they were due to ship out soon. Everything needed to be
back to normal before that could happen.
“While you do that, I want you to think about something.” Sterling
glanced at her husband with am amused, playful expression.
“What’s that?” He asked as she grabbed the front of his uniform and
pushed him against the wall, pinning him there with her body.
Catherine leaned close to him, her lips just brushing his ear lobe.
“It’s been four months, Daniel. Between my being away on that intel
assignment, and then you getting yourself nearly killed and now the
Dominion. It’s been four very long months.” She whispered softly, her
voice as smooth as silk. “We have a lot of catching up to do.” She
purred softly.
The effect on Daniel was more then satisfactory, because she leaned back
with a contented expression and walked away, leaving the marine medic
trying to regain his composure. “Daisy should beat you up more often.”
He stammered.
Catherine was already a few meters away from him but overheard that
nonetheless. “You are so going to pay for that.” She called out to him.

NRPG: Why is it…when I actually try to organize a quiet long weekend,
that things always get busy?!?! I honestly thought I would have a lot
more time up my sleeve then what I’ve actually been experiencing.
KIM: Sorry about not being around enough to write that post with you!
You did a great job, thank you!
