“Assessing the Situation”

Location: DOMINION BATTLESHIP

Stardate: 2424 [2.8] 0215.1453

Scene: Corridor -> Holding Cell

“Where are you taking us?” Daniel asked over his shoulder, only to be rudely
shoved to the ground by the Jem’Hadar behind him.

“You will speak only when spoken to,” the soldier answered. “Now get up.”

Daniel slowly complied with the order, trying to figure out if there was any
information that he could possibly get from this soldier. Looking around
him, he noticed that only the tactical and marine forces were currently in
the group of prisoners and he couldn’t see Colonel Maverick anywhere.

“Where are the others?” he asked and almost immediately he was thrown
against the wall by the same soldier, who grabbed a fistful of his uniform
and pinned him against the wall with one hand, his weapon held carelessly in
the other.

“You will speak only when spoken to human,” the soldier repeated his earlier
answer, before roughly shoving the marine ahead. “Now move and keep quiet.”

Getting tired of being manhandled, Daniel decided to follow instructions for
the moment and continued along the corridor with the other captured
Starfleet personnel. He quickly noticed that all of the captured people
were being directed into holding cells, although he noted with some interest
that each person was being assigned their own cell.

**Must be a pretty large ship,** he thought to himself, looking over his
shoulder at the soldier that had been assigned to him and wondering if it
was a good idea to try and ask another question. Since his previous two
requests didn’t go that well, he decided for the moment to wait.

“This is your holding cell,” the Jem’Hadar guard informed him, tapping a few
buttons on the console to deactivate the forcefield across the entrance.
“You will remain here until the Dominion has further need of you.”

“Am I allowed to speak now?” Daniel asked sarcastically. “You just spoke to
me.”

The guard looked at him with an unreadable expression, before shoving him
into the cell with the butt of his weapon and closing the forcefield behind
the marine officer.

“I’ll take that as a no,” Daniel muttered to himself, taking a seat in his
cell. Nothing about this situation made any sense to him. Even though his
contact with the Dominion had been practically non-existent before the start
of this mission, the apparent division of the captured Starfleet crew seemed
confusing to him. He didn’t have much time to wonder about that specific
point however, because the sound of the forcefield deactivating drew his
attention to the present and the Vorta that had just entered his holding
cell.

“Good evening, young human,” the Vorta said, smiling and bowing his head
slightly. “I hope these accommodations aren’t too unpleasant for you.”

Daniel got to his feet, putting his hands behind his back and staring
straight at the Vorta in front of him. “Major Daniel Clarkson,” he said.

“Yes yes, I know who you are,” the Vorta interrupted with a wave of
dismissal. “I even know your serial number as well. None of this concerns
me. But you appear to have the highest rank of the officers we have
gathered here and therefore I will start our interrogation process with
you.”

Daniel was about to open his mouth to speak and then closed it, realizing
that if the Dominion was indeed unaware of Colonel Maverick, then it was
quite possible that he might have found a way to escape after they had all
surrendered.

The Vorta stared at him for a moment, before smiling. “Your Colonel is
still on the surface Mr. Clarkson,” he said. “Along with all of your other
personnel. They will be interrogated as to the disturbing Starfleet
presence within this solar system.”

“Then what are we doing here?” Daniel asked.

“You will be assisting us in the discovery of your ship,” the Vorta replied.

Daniel inwardly let out a sigh of relief. “You didn’t destroy the PATRIOT?”
he asked.

The Vorta smiled. “As far as your crew on the planet knows, both your
warship and your construction vessel have been destroyed,” he said. “And
that is all that anyone on this ship that we do not need will know.”

The Vorta made an indication to the Jem’Hadar soldier, who stepped forward
and grabbed Daniel’s arm, propelling him out of the cell and down the
corridor. The Vorta caught up with them at the lift.

“We know that your organization does not consider its footsoldiers
expendable,” the Vorta said. “Your ships are still waiting for us
somewhere. And with your help, we will have no trouble in finding them.”

“You must realize that I have no intention of helping you,” Daniel answered.

The Vorta smiled. “You will help us,” he said. “Whether you wish it or
not.”

NRPG: Just moving things along.

On the Dominion ship, all of the marines (minus Mav, who was in command of
the away team) and all of the security personnel have been placed in holding
cells and it is very likely that many of them will be interrogated in an
attempt to gain information about the PATRIOT and CABOT that will help in
finding it.

On the surface, Mav, Tam, Sterling-Jade and everyone else are being held and
probably interrogated in an effort to find out what Starfleet’s been up to
on the surface, although I’ll leave the details of that up to whomever wants
to write about them.

On the PATRIOT, both ships have taken refuge in the nebula and for the
moment the Dominion have broken off the pursuit.

Alix -> I held off on writing anything aboard the PATRIOT in order to give
you the chance to post again if you wanted =)
