“Going Wrong”
Cont. from “Cowardice” and “Turkey Shoot”
----------------------------------
Location: LIOUN V
Time: During “Cowardice”
Scene: Jem’Hadar Camp -> Holding cell
So Catherine had been abandoned. Tam felt numbed as the Jem’Hadar guards shoved her along, she wasn’t sure to what. After all, most of the Marines had already been beamed up, presumably to the Dominion ship, and the only person left with her was currently being offered up as a training exercise.
“Bad” didn’t even begin to cover it.
The walk was short, made longer by the frequent elbows and gun butts being “accidentally” jabbed into her back and sides. The room that they escorted her into was small and dark, and the only thing inside was a chair. Her attention was caught by the various attachments made to it; a shiver started sliding down her spine and wouldn’t stop. Interrogation… She shuddered more strongly as one of the guards pushed her down into the chair.
“Are you scared?” the Vorta asked, looking at her with something more akin to curiousity than concern. “I don’t blame you, all alone and in prison.” He seemed to savor the words.
“I’m just cold.” It was a bad lie, the most predictable, but the most easily believed. She could feel goosebumps popping up along her arms, but they definitely weren’t from cold.
“We can turn up the temperature, but the guards might get cranky.” It was not an offer, but a statement of fact. “Now, then, what was Starfleet doing on this planet? Especially one so far out of their way.” She didn’t say anything. “Oh, wait, were you building something?”
When she stayed silent, he continued, “I wouldn’t bother asking, we just want to clarify some facts. We already know quite a bit. What I really want to know is why they would send along a medical officer. I can’t imagine that Starfleet’s engineers would be so careless as to hurt themselves.”
At this point, she was so frozen from fear that it was hard for her to even move her jaw. “Standard procedure dictates medical personnel with away teams.”
“But were you told what you were doing on the planet?”
“I was told to go. I went.” She risked a look up at him, and was not cheered by his bored expression. “I’m just a nurse.”
He sighed. “Put her somewhere. We have other officers.”
One of the guards took her by the arm and half-dragged her along to a cell, pushing her in and activating the door. She sat down, back to the wall, and waited to stop shaking. Her hands had steadied by the time some of Maverick's Marines came to liberate her.

"Ease up people." Maverick gestured for them to relax, but asking them to lower their weapons would be ignored. He had to gain their trust and respect, and deal with this quickly. "We're not going anywhere. Not
until we've figured out who's legit or not."
Catherine clenched her fists, but waited. She knew that her husband had to wait, but she wasn’t happy about it. “How are we going to figure it out then?”
He looked toward her, then refocused on the grating behind her. “We’ll test everyone’s blood. Medics’ll get tested first, then they’ll test the rest of us. Not guarenteed, but better than sitting on our asses waiting for someone else to be a Changeling. Lieutenant,” this to Catherine, “check the counselor, then she can start checking the others. You need treatment, too.”
He turned to the Marines. “Don’t put down your weapons, but don’t start shooting yet. We still don’t know whether anybody’s a Changeling or not.”

NRPG: I decided to send off a fast post. The blood test may not the best idea anymore, but any port in a storm, right?
