"Hell Hath No Fury"
Con't from Tay's "114"

Location: USS PATRIOT
Scene: Clarkon Quarters
Stardate: 2.80316

Catherine stalked into her home. The muscles in her neck and back were
tense, and she extruded an aura agitation and almost homicidal fury. Her
mouth was twisted in bottled resentment as she marched into the small
kitchen and began to open doors and then banging them shut as she looked
for something.

In the course of the proceeding four hours, Maverick would always refer
to her as Misses Clarkson. At first it was just annoying. And then it
became infurating. And finally, it became volcanic. She had had a plead
fatigue to leave the meeting. It was that or grab Maverick by his shirt,
throw him on the table and pluck his still beating heart from his chest
and shoving it down his throat.

"...and I think if we put the final three squads on this schedule here,"
Daniel said, entering the quarters with 1st Lieutenant Josh Morris
walking right beside him. "We should be able to maintain standards and a
half of battle readiness on top of what the Starfleet Marine Corps
recommends while at the same time allowing our troops more time off."

"Looks good sir," Morris said, taking a look a the PADD that Daniel had
just handed him. It was then that both marines became aware of a banging
noise coming from the kitchen of the quarters.

"Maybe we should do this later," Daniel said after a moment of surprise
at the sound.

"Good idea sir," Morris said with a nod, handing the PADD back to
Daniel. "I'll be on marine deck when you want to resume the conversation."

"Thanks," Daniel said, before nodding a farewell to Morris and walking
into the kitchen. He'd been initially surprised at the sounds because he
knew that Catherine was preparing for her undercover mission and he
hadn't expected her to be at home when he arrived. After getting to the
kitchen, he watched Catherine's frustrated searching for a few moments,
noting that she gave no indication that she knew he was standing there
even though she must have realized it by now.

Finally, Daniel politely cleared his throat. "Something I can help
with?" he asked, rather innocently.

"Help me kill your boss. Please?" She asked before turning around with a
sigh. "Sorry, I shouldn't have said that." She rubbed a hand over the
lines in her forehead, trying to massage them out. "He's just
insufferable." She crossed her arms over her chest and leaned against
the bench.

"In all fairness, you did take the fighter." Daniel pointed out.

"And I used it in the appropriate manner. They were a pilot down, and
they needed everything on hand to throw at the Dominion." Catherine
rolled her eyes and resumed her searching, albeit with a little less
aggravation. She didn't even know what she was looking for – she just
had to do something. "Didn't even scratch the paint work."

Daniel kept his distance from his wife until she had calmed down. He had
learnt the hard way that an occasional flailed arm could make contact,
and it hurt. "What's he doing anyway?" He asked as he leaned on the
bench on the other side of it.

"Calling me Misses Clarkson." She glanced at him with a frown, and saw
the expression in Daniel's face. "Oh no, do not laugh!" She waggled a
finger at him warningly.

Daniel placed a hand over his mouth, massaging the sides of his face as
a cover for controlling his laughter. A few seconds later, he removed
the hand. "I'm sorry," he said. "But you were so angry that you had me
thinking he was forcing you to work triple shifts after you got back or
something."

"You're taking his side?" She demanded incredulously. "You're as bad as
he is!" She scowled darkly and turned her back to him. "If he wants to
tell me off about that, then fine. But referring to me as an
inseparable, indistinct part of you – that is not fine!"

Daniel sighed, taking a few steps into the kitchen. "I'm not taking
anybody's side Cath," he said. "I just didn't realize that this would
bug you so much."

He leaned against the counter, staring at his wife's back for a few
moments as he tried to think of what to say. Of all the different
scenarios that he could have envisioned, trying to calm his wife down
over something like this was not one that he had prepared for mentally
and because of that he felt a little bit like a fish out of water.

Finally, he shook his head, more as a subconscious action than anything
else since he knew she couldn't see it. "I doubt very much that Colonel
Maverick thinks of you as a part of me. If anything, his thinking would
be the other way around. You're faster, stronger, more intelligent, have
a better grasp of tactics and train the marines better than I could ever
hope to. And I'm pretty sure that everyone, including the Colonel, knows
it."

"Daniel, he's just teasing me. Furthermore, I am not more intelligent
then you." She found a bottle of wine and appeared satisfied with it. "I
just find it offensive that he is refusing to call me by my name."

She poured two large glasses of wine and handed one to Daniel as a peace
offering. "I think I'm just going to ignore him until he calls me by my
name." She had thought briefly of concocting a name for Maverick and
using it to address him but thought better of it. She liked the ignore
option better.

Daniel accepted the glass of wine, taking a sip from it before placing
it on the table. "That's probably the best thing to do," he agreed.
"He'll keep doing it if he knows that it'll get a rise out of you each
time."

She grumbled under her breath and suddenly smiled slightly. "Still, it
was fun to fly that thing."

"Anyway, no doubt you know that I'm going undercover with the rest of
the away team. Who knows how long we'll be stuck down there." She took a
drink of wine, suddenly morose. "And if they launch a war against the
colony, you'll be in the firing line." She wasn't too sure if she liked
that idea.

Daniel smiled slightly, taking the wine glass from her and placing it on
the counter next to his before taking her hands into his own. "Well, I
might not have your super speed or super strength," he said. "But I
think I can handle a few skirmishes with low tech soldiers. If they even
attack the colony, which we don't know for sure they will yet. In fact,
while you're down on the planet doing all the hard work, I might just be
up here crafting you another snow globe."

"Snow globes. Hmm. Havent seen a new one in a while." The woman smiled
and kissed him on the neck. "At least this is really you." She laughed
softly. "I would have hated it if it weren't. All these promises you
wouldn't have to keep."

Daniel pulled her into a hug. "Ah yes," he said with a slightly impish
expression on his face. "I forgot to add super smell to the list of
abilities. I heard the story from one of the marines afterward. That was
impressive deduction work on your part."

"That Changeling had no scent, let alone yours." She remarked with a
smile. "And a human nose can detect scents too. You just don't use it
like another sence. So, then, tell me. What do I smell like?" She asked
him impishly.

"Well," Daniel replied, nuzzling her neck with his nose and making a big
display of inhaling. "Hmm...I don't know if just one sniff is good enough."

She laughed and wrapped her arms around him, suddenly feeling alive and
joyful. "Close your eyes and try again." She felt him laughing against
her, his chest rumbling with pleasure.

He did so, closing his eyes and taking many deep breaths through his
nose. "You smell..." he said, keeping his eyes closed. "Beautiful,
vibrant, fiery...all of the qualities that I've come to love so much
about you."

"Aww, you are such a big sap." She laughed as she kissed him. "A cute,
adorable, big sap." She leaned back and smirked. "A teddy bear, yes,
that is what you are."

Catherine grinned and nibbled on his ear lobe. "I just wish you would
grow your hair a little and give me something to hang on to." She teased.

Daniel rolled his eyes. "You just never give up," he said with a chuckle.

"No, no, I don't." The woman replied with a smile. "Anyway, I guess I
had better get back to work."

Daniel put a pouting expression on his face. "Already?" he asked.

She nodded and kissed him along his jaw line. "Mmmm. We're going to
reassemble at 900 hours, but I was going to do some more background work,"

Daniel was about to reply when his comm badge beeped. [[Major,]] came
the voice of Josh Morris. [[We're about to start the first round of
drilling.]]

The marine sighed, hanging his head slightly and tapping his comm badge.
"Okay," he said. "I'll be there as soon as I can."

"Sometimes I hate work," he muttered after closing the comm badge to the
other

Catherine laughed. "How about when we get back later on tonight, I'll
make it worth your while?" She asked him with a grin. "And we can enjoy
each other's company till the wee hours of the morning."

Daniel smiled, leaning in and planting a kiss on her lips. "Sounds like
a plan," he said.
