"Mysterious"
Con't from Tay's post

Location: USS PATROT
Scene: ExO's Office

Jeff leaned back in his chair, a perplexed expression on his face. The
ship's Quartermaster had stumbled across a small parcel for Gorman and had
delivered up to the ExO's office half an hour ago. On the table sat a small
wooden box, sans lid. Within the box was a small grey contraption with an
arm band. Its function indescribable unless you knew what it was. Forehead
furrowing, he reread the handwritten note again.

"Protect this with your life."

There was no signature, but he knew who's direction it was.

He studied the cursive writing, trying to eek more information out of the
five words. Whatever it was that Teneill was trying to tell him, for the
moment at least, it remained a mystery to him.

The man replaced the lid on the box and slid the whole item into the back of
his desk drawer. When she was ready, she would reclaim it, until then, he
would follow through and keep it as protected as he could. Although, short
of hiding it in a bank vault, nothing was truly safe

Maverick grinned as he mercilessly teased the young women sitting opposite
him. "Come on Catherine, I knew it was you two." He gloated.

The former security officer cum intelligence agent snorted in concept.
"How? Tam and I left no proof behind. We wore gloves, our hair was tied
back, and there was no way you could have walked into that study and
straight back out and knew we had done it." Catherine smirked. "Burden
of proof Maverick. I know it's a dirty word to you."

"That's the thing about marines, we won't worry about proof."

"I'll remember that next time." She replied after sipping from her glass.

She saw Daniel approach the table, and moved in her seat so that Daniel
could ease into the couch next to her. Maverick waited until they were
comfortable, before grinning wickedly over the rim of his mug. "Danny-boy,
has your dear wife told you what she did back dirt-side?"

"Don't you dare." Catherine growled softly. She would have kicked him
under the table too if she could get away with it.

Bret didn't take the hint, or just flat out ignored it. "She was a
maid!" Daniel
chuckled softly and kissed the top of her head while she glared daggers at
the marine. "Catherine dusting, and washing and scrubbings…did they make
you wear a dress?"

Tam laughed at the ribbing and intervened, trying to spare the woman a
little humiliation. "She was a menace. After nearly severing someone's
finger, she was pretty much kept down in the cellar, so she didn't do much
cleaning." She pointed out to Maverick.

"It's confirmed, I am a horrible house keeper." Catherine nodded solemnly.

"Awww."

Tam took the chance to speak up before the ribbing got physical. "Anyway,
I've got my hands on a holodeck program that I think might be useful for a
little rest and relaxation." She watched as the assembled group of Maverick
Daniel, Catherine and Tanith just looked at her. "Oh wow, look at the
enthusiasm." The woman rolled her eyes.

"Sorry." Tanith gave her a half-hearted smile.

The counselor shrugged, she was going to make sure they enjoyed her little
program. "I'll organize it for the next couple of days or so, so just be
ready, and yes, it's going to be official. You're all too attend, as if the
rest of the senior staff."

Maverick grimaced and stayed silent.

"What's it about?" Daniel asked curiously. Since they were going to get
involved, it couldn't hurt to know what they were getting involved with.

Tam smiled secretively. "You will have to wait and see."

Maverick shook his head miserably, and saw Gorman organizing himself a cup
of tea and then venture over to their group. "Ah, Commander Gorman, the man
of the hour." Standing between the colony and a fleet of warships wasn't
easy, and definitely scored points in Maverick's book. "Grab a seat."

Jeff smiled and shook his head regretfully. "Thanks, but I'll have to
decline, I still have more reports to fill out, just needed a walk to clear
my head." He replied.

"Any idea where we're headed next?"

"None so far. This got wrapped up early then Command expected, so we're in
limbo until they can figure out where best to send us. Enjoy the peace and
quiet while it lasts." Jeff pointedly suggested, and with a brief nod of
the head, turned and left the group to their devices.
