"Arrival"
(Continued from Sarah's: "By Jove I Think She's Got
It")
################

Location: USS STONEHENGE
Stardate: 2.80105.2238
Scene: Captain's Ready Room

[[Captain we are approaching NOCTURIA.]] Pol'Gra's
calm and reassuring voice calm over the COMM.

"My thanks." Rharn replied. S/he regarded heris pale
painted nails and stared at heris reflection. The
normally tightly braided hair that was bound up around
heris head, was still braided but those braids now
hung simply down heris back and small crystals and
beads had been added.

All in all it was a definite change from the very
formal style s/he had lived with all of heris life.
Rharn Alcedo popped heris head to one side and
regarded heris features. Sighing Rharn rose to heris
feet.

Scene: Bridge

The Bridge was hushed as it always was when the
STONEHENGE approached a new planet. Rharn Alcedo
stepped across and to the Captain's chair. Peter
Aspinall slipped smoothly across and into the ExO's
seat. "You look different." He murmured softly.

"That is the point." Rharn whispered back, "On
Screen."

Before them hanging almost within touching distance on
the Bridge slowly span the desolated planet, NOCTURIA.

"What happened?"

"Super nova in a neighbouring star system, blew us
from our normal orbit and out here." Rharn's black
eyes regarded the home that s/he had vowed that s/he
would never return to.

Peter snapped himself from the grim contemplation of
the planet before them. "Full scans." He snapped the
order.

Rharn popped the small console and screen from the arm
of heris chair. "Bring us into standard orbit." The
Nocturian spoke softly to Lynette at Helm. "The
shuttles are prepared?"

"Aye Captain."

"Good." Rharn steepled heris fingers. "I think I
shall accompany you all this time."

"Of course." Peter smiled, "Will your family be
pleased to see you?"

"I sincerely doubt it." The red skinned alien smirked
ruefully. "I doubt it indeed."

"The Eldest must have been sure of your reception?"
Aerdan spoke softly from his place to heris right.

"No I doubt that too." Rharn returned heris black
gaze to the planet before them, "Well it is certainly
too late to worry about it. Dr Aerdan you have
everything you may need?"

"Yes." The Andoran Doctor nodded, "How long before
the meteor becomes a problem?"

"We should have full visualisation within the next few
hours."

"Can I have every scan known to this ship thrown at
that meteor?" Thomas Varn asked.

Peter nodded, "All systems not needed for the security
of the ship will be at your disposal within 30 minutes
of us obtaining geostationary orbit."

"My thanks." Thomas sounded relieved.

"Approaching orbit now." Lynette informed the rest of
the Bridge.

"Let's head out." Peter announced and rose to his
feet, "Secondary Bridge crew you have command."

Location: NOCTURIA
Scene: Central Plateau

The two shuttles settled down and as they landed small
clouds of dust was thrown into the atmosphere.
A few minutes of silence followed as engines were
powered down and the crew on board the two shuttles
gathered their equipment. Then in unison the doors
opened and steps appeared.

Rharn Alcedo stepped slowly down the steps and looked
around. Peter appeared at heris side and coughed,
"Dusty."

"What did you expect?" Rharn started laughing,
"Somewhere nice and green and clean?" S/he looked
around, "Well at least they have turned up the
lighting for you."

Aerdan Jos appeared at their sides and looked around,
"Well it's lovely and cold isn't it?"

"Indeed young one." The Eldest One had now reached
them from the second shuttle, "Such a nice easy
landing." The elderly Nocturian smiled, "Come I shall
show you the hatchery."

"They don't believe in hanging around do they?" Phia
muttered.

"No we do not." Rharn agreed, "Would you be
interested Counselor?"

"I guess so."

Matthew Aspinall was talking to the few Security
Officers he had brought with him. They quickly split
into two teams. Matthew and Izzy moved quickly across
to where Rharn and Peter were stood.

The red skinned CO led the after the Eldest One and
Aerdan's retreating back.

"So where did you live?" Phia asked the Nocturian.

"Round to the right." Rharn replied though s/he
didn't look around, "I really do not think an invite
to dinner will be forthcoming." S/he looked grim but
continued walking steadily.

Izzy was busy looking around, "You know we're being
watched?" The Alterian announced to her tall
counterpart.

"I'd be very surprised if we weren't." Matthew easily
replied. "Don't let it worry you."

"I won't." Izzy smiled, though she did continue to
look around.

The large group moved through a huge archway and
before them stood the group of three buildings that
dominated the central plaza.

"The hiberitum is the one on the left, the hatchery is
the central building and the one to the right is the
nursey." Rharn informed Thomas, Peter, Phia, Izzy,
Kiros and Matthew. "We will be in the central
building for now."

Thomas looked around, "Is there a science centre?" He
asked.

"Not as such, though there are labs in both the
hatchery and hiberitum." Rharn informed heris Science
Chief, "And plenty of Nocturians that will be wanting
to question you for every single piece of information
you are willing to give them."

The group of Officers led by the Elder One moved up
the four steps and the doors to the Hatchery opened
before them.

"Greetings Eldest." A green skinned Nocturian with
bright orange hair bowed deeply, "You have been
successful?"

"More than you can imagine Zipa Pleo." The red
skinned Matriach informed the Elder of the Hatchery.
"I have brought with me Doctors who will endeavour to
discover the disease that blights our young ones."

"You wish me to open the doors to Other Worlders?"
Zipa Pleo swallowed.

"Indeed it is my demand that you do so." The Eldest
looked grim. "I will have no more deaths on my
hands." With that the Eldest One swept through into
the building almost tugging Aerdan Jos along with
herim.

Rharn Alcedo stepped through the door, "We will
require a laboratory, please Elder Pleo." Rharn spoke
with all defrence to the elder Nocturian.

"You....." The green skinned Nocturian sucked in a
deep breath, "You have defiled us?"

"Not yet." Rharn spoke equally softly and kept heris
eyes downcast; s/he glanced upwards, "But it can be
done if you so wish....."

"There will be no need for your vileness to defile
these halls Rharn Alcedo."

"Ah but you see I have been summoned to help; so you
will do this for us."

"Do I have a choice in this matter?"

"Yes you can pass us onto a younger member of your
staff so you do not have to look on my contamination."
Rharn spoke without the usual emotional inflections
in heris voice but in a still monotone.

"No the less that see you the better." Zipa turned,
"Follow me there is a laboratory that remains vacant
you may stay in there."

"Our thanks."

Rharn led the way after the orange skinned haired
Nocturian.

Scene: Laboratory

"Will this do Thomas?" Rharn asked her Science
Officer softly. "There is enough equipment?"

"Yes." The winged human nodded, "I can work easily in
here. Will we be able to communicate with the ship?"

"Of course." The red skinned Nocturian inclined heris
head, "This will not be a problem. Our communications
are second to none." Rharn indicated a panel on the
wall, "I believe that you and Kiros will be able to
adapt Nocturian technologies to accept Federation."

Thomas nodded once and started to unpack the number of
bags that he had brought with him. "Will I be able to
get any readings on the meteor that the Nocturians
have been able to take?"

There was a discreet knock on the door. Rharn nodded
at Peter and the Nocturian almost seemed to disappear
into the shadows.

Peter Aspinall confidentally opened the door. Before
him stood a red skinned and blue haired Nocturian.
"You belong to the House of Alcedo?" Peter asked
softly surprise in his voice.

"Indeed." The young alien inclined hiser head. "I
have been sent to serve the Other Worlders."

"Come inside then." Peter moved out of the way and
the Nocturian stepped through the doorway though
looking nervous.

"We won't hurt you." Matthew spoke softly.

Thomas turned around, "Can I get any scans that you
have?" He asked without preamble.

"Yes sir." The young Alcedo bent hiser head slightly,
"I have been sent to enable you to use our technology
the Eldest One has selected me for this post. It is
my priviledge to serve you."

"You know I think that's the longest speech I've heard
from a Nocturian." Phia drawled.

"You have knowledge of one of our kind?" The
youngster turned to face the tall blue skinned female.

"Yep you could say that." Phia continued.

"Don't tease the child." Izzy pouted at her friend.

"I'm not." Phia slouched further in the seat.

"I have a message for one of mine." The Alcedo child
hesitated.... "It is from our guardians...."

Rharn stepped from the shadow, "It is for me." The
crimson skinned alien moved forward, "What do the
guardians say little one?"

"They wish to meet with you."

Rharn took a deep breath. "I see." S/he looked
around, "Thomas, Kiros see if you can link the
technologies. When you have done that see if you can
get anything clear on the Meteor...."

"It's composition, hit percentage, where it might
strike, possible out comes...." Thomas counted them
off on his fingers.

"That is the ticket." Rharn smiled. "If you get
chance see if you can find anything that may assist
Aerdan..."

"Will do."

"Peter and Phia come with me." Rharn looked at heris
Exo and Counselor, "Please."

"I'll come as well." Izzy offered. "I hate being
cooped up."

"As you wish."

Matthew Aspinall looked at his husband, "Stay in
touch." He mouthed.

Peter nodded and followed Rharn out of the room.

"We will take the back route." Rharn muttered. "I
hope you do not mind the dark."

"So long as it is not too dark." Izzy whispered to
her taller friend in reply.

Rharn led the three other officers through the
building and out via the back door. S/he walked
gracefully across the uneven ground and paused at the
entrance to a tunnel, "I believe you will find some
torches to your left as we go in."

So saying the blue haired Nocturian stepped into the
darkness.

Scene: Alcedo Citadel

Rharn Alcedo stood calmly before the elders of heris
clan. Peter, Phia and Izzy had stopped just inside
the doorway. The three Officers had seemed surprised
when Rharn had addressed the ceiling and then four
figures had detached themselves and now stood grouped
around their red skinned CO.

All Alcedo's had red skin, though some were much
darker than Rharn's crimson colouring, almost maroon
and some so pale as to be almost pink, again there
seemed to be a myriad of different blues in their hair
but all were braided in the same way.

//You hav changed child.//

//It has been a long time guardians. May we speak in
standard?//

//So your friends will be able to hear?//

"Yes." Rharn spoke in a lower voice. "So that they
may hear."

"Very well." The taller of the four turned and
addressed the three *aliens* "Two of you could almost
pass for Nocturians, the third is very strange and so
pale."

"He is human and they do not see the necessary for
colour."

"He?" A second Alcedo feined surprise.

"Why does the fact that my friends have gender
surprise you so much?" Rharn paused to collect heris
thoughts, "When you did to me as you did?"

"We...." The three smaller figures turned to the
taller.

"We believed we were doing right."

"Have you heard from T'nnent?" Rharn found heriself
asking.

"No."

"But we believe he/she will arrive shortly."

"He/she will have been informed of your arrival."

"The Jaraxs have been monitoring himer for some time."

"We would offer you refreshment." The third Alcedo
guardian turned and addressed the three other
officers, "You could do with a drink?"

Peter stepped forward, "We would be honoured to
accept, Elder Alcedo."

"He has impecable taste." The guardian smiled at
Rharn.

"He is British guardian and enjoys drinking tea more
than anything else in the universe."

Phia snorted, "I believe our Captain attempted
humour."

"Yep at my expense."

-[/\]-

Scene: Hatchery

Aerdan Jos stared at the rows and rows of ovoid
caskets. "How many are in operation at the moment?"

"Several." The Eldest One had settled heriself into a
chair and watched the blue skinned Doctor with
interest. "There was a hibernation recently, but not
many chose to join their genetic codes."

"Due to the meteor?"

"Partly." The red skinned alien shrugged, "Mainly
because we cannot bare to see the young die."

"Their illnesses and the Meteor could be connected."
Aerdan suggested.

"It is possible, there again our equipment is getting
old and so are we." The Eldest One admitted. "We are
so set in our ways...."

"Can I scan the ovoids?" Aerdan asked.

"Do whatever you will Doctor. I believe that our
species future lies within your hands."

Aerdan's antenna drooped slightly into his snowy white
hair, "No pressure then?"

"None child." The Eldest One rose to heris feet and
gently took Aerdan's chin in heris hand, "So young and
yet your eyes are so so old. So the question is why
do you endeavour to push everyone away?"

"I..." Aerdan swallowed and lowered his eyes from the
knowing black gaze. "I have work to do."

"Always the Doctor?" The Eldest One smiled slightly,
"I will stay here child in case Zipa Pleo tries to
cause trouble for you, and as I wait here you may
address me as Mya for that is my given name." With
that Mya Alcedo winked and settled herself once more
back in the chair. "Do whatever scans and tests you
feel necessary Doctor, just do not let this hatching
die."

"I'll try...."

-[/\]-

Location: Space

The meteor continued on it's relentless journey. It
had already been slungshot around the NOCTURIA moon
and had hurtled on it's destructive cause. Soon it
would slam into the side of the desolated planet.
Soon it could destroy the civilization that had lived
on that same planet for millenia.

Uncarring the pock marked rock continued onwards.
Soon it would be seen by the naked eyes of the
inhabitants, until then they lived in unassuming
security.

------------------------------

NRPG: Ok hope this helps.

There are now three teams (sort of).

Hatchery (main hatching area) Aerdan Jos (and anyone
Jamies wishes to add ;-)) plus Mya Alcedo the Eldest
One

Labratory - Thomas Varn and Kiros Karn expected to do
miracles ;-) with a youngster from the house of
Alcedo. and Matthew Aspinall

Plus Zipa Pleo who is seriously unhappy that there are
Outer Worlders on NOCTURIA and even more unhappy that
those strangers have access to the Hatchery.

Alcedo Citadel: Is Rharn, Peter, Phia and Izzy causing
mayhem in the Alcedo household.

Any questions toss them my way and I'll try and help.

But basically we have to stop the meteor either by
destroying it (if fesible) or by rescuing the
Nocturians whether they want it or not. ;-)
And two figure out why exactly the cloning is failing
and the children are dying.
