"Don't Cry For Me NOCTURIA"
continued from Jamie's "Sins of the Fathers"

Location: NOCTURIA
Scene: Citadel Square

Many of the citadels (but most certainly not all) had a central
square. Most times people met here peacefully – to discuss the
weather, family, friends, current events...that sort of thing.

But in grave times, discussions are expected to be different. They're
expected to be harsh, they're expected to be challenging. As if to
the times around the people draw something hidden and unexpected from
inside the soul, something that can transcend the times and can meet
the exacting moment head on.

Kayle stood in the Citadel Square, on top of a small rising and looked
at heris companions. H/she knew all these Nocturians. Had grown up
with them, watched them evolve, and now was watching them panic. And
trusting of this Starfleet.

"Listen to me NOCTURIA," Kayle called out. Most of the Nocturians
around heris ignored this but some watched, curious about what Kayle
was up to. "You won't believe me but you must listen to me. We
cannot trust our lives to these Starfleet persons. They are not like
us – how can they assist then? Is this what we've come to – trusting
of some supposedly benevolent strange organization?"

"Rharn Alcedo is part of this organization, h/she is one of us," one
of the persons in the crowd called out.

Kayle looked out – noticing more and more people were stopping and
watching, hopefully listening. "Rharn Alcedo is no Nocturian. Rharn
has long turned heris back on us – are we now to suddenly accept
Rharn's help? After abandoning us? Are we that desperate? And for
what? What they are saying are just illusions. They are trying to
change us, they are not giving us real solutions for our problems."

The crowd stilled, watching and waiting. Finally one of the older
members of the community lifted up heris head. "These...persons do
not seem...bad."

"They do not seem good either," Kayle countered. "They promise
dreams, but I ask of you – all of you – how can they promise a dream
if they don't know us? If they don't know our dreams? What then are
we agreeing to – to their dreams? It might start with something
innocous, something seemingly benign. But then it's another thing.
Take Rharn – you who so desperately want to trust h/she. Have you not
noticed the changes? How h/she has already turned from our ways? Is
this the life you want? What then does it mean to be a Nocturian?"

The crowd began to talk amongst themselves. Kayle, with heris outfit
of pink and orange, and long black hair intricately braided back
watched all of this. "I ask you...what does it mean to be a
Nocturian? Answer me that – and then answer me – can any of those
inside really know what that means? Then how can they – any of them,
including one of our whose turned our back on us – help us? I say we
throw them off our planet and face our challenges ourself. Let us
define us, let us decide what we must do and then we shall do it. But
we will do it in our own way and without anyone else's help."

NRPG: Sorry it's barely a post but I wanted to get something together
quickly before bed. Hopefully this works for everyone. Sometimes
it's good to visualize the opposition and their motivations – even if
it is a bunch of hot air (I think, I don't know it helps me) so I
figured Kayle could be one of those persons for us. Obviously feel
free to do whatever you want with Kayle or the opposition (including
ignoring this sad excuse for a post lol) :-) I'll try and post again
something with people's characters – including my own! If it doesn't
work feel free to bop me over the head with a wet noodle.
