"Into the darkness"

(Cont'd from "This Coup Is Brought to You By The Letter C and the Number 1")

Location: USS STONEHENGE

Scene: Arboretum

Stardate: 2.70119.1229

Landwyn Orla leaned against a stable unit his eyes looking at those of
Prancer while he fed the Hem'Blach a piece of chocolate, the NOCTURINA
reindeer seemed to accept the fact that Izzy wasn't there to feed him and
took the creamy confectionary.

"Lan!" Ardy's voice cut through the silence as he called his friends name
and headed towards him, "Wasn't expecting to find you here."

"Doing the rounds." Landwyn answered glumly. "You know, taking care of all
of Izzy's waifs and strays."

"I thought you were on the bridge." Ardy said as he crossed his arms on the
edge of Prancer's stable.

"I couldn't just stand and watch." He answered glumly. "Although I was
thinking, Prancer here is linked to Izzy right, and he knows the planet."

Ardy was quiet for a moment. "You're thinking about kidnapping a reindeer
and going and joining her, why? She's not in any danger that we know of."

"That we know of." Landwyn repeated, "There's a large enough piece of meteor
about to hit the ground where they are meant to be and we can't give them a
message. If we can safely beam as close to where they should be as possible
then either Prancer or I could send a message." He pointed out his blue eyes
turning to Ardy's the two men stared at each other for a moment.

"OK, we'll need to use a cargo transport. I'll cover for you as long as I
can."

Location: NOCTURINA

Scene: Bogozh

The away team found themselves running after Bast as the first few drops of
rain landed around them, the ground sizzled and almost seemed to move
beneath their feet, ahead of them the little rodent disappeared. "Where the
he..?" Peter started to call and then a yelp of surprise cut off his
sentence as he too disappeared.

One by one the Starfleet officers dropped through the ground, most now
expecting the drop rolled swiftly to their feet, Peter who'd dropped first
was grumbling, the Captain who'd been only a beat behind him had managed to
land on top of him. Stifling a laugh Izshlana helped to pull them to their
feet.

"Is everyone here?" Rharn asked looking around as in the dark the away team
began to pull their lights out and flick them on.

After she did a quick head count she looked down at Bast answering him in
their own high pitched tongue lights started to flicker on at the
acknowledgement that a NOCTURINA was in the area.

"What is this place?" Peter asked quietly.

"Bast says we're safe." Rharn answered him, she stepped to a console her
fingers slipping across the device the lights grew brighter and then one
wall seemed to disappear as the surrounding area appeared on it.

"Well at least we won't be surprised." Izzy said after she'd looked at the
wall for a moment.

The other Starfleet officers moved around; each looking at different
consoles. Cadet Karn dropped into a seat, and then switched his light off.
"Well I think I've found where they were controlling the experiments from."
He said softly. Peter stepped across to look over his shoulder as
information about the rocks and land around them flew across a console in
front of him.

"Interesting." The XO muttered.

Phia and Izzy looked at one another and shrugged. The security officer's
eyes moved to the wall of the bunker. "Incoming." She called as she spotted
a movement in the rain, her eyes firmly fixed on the wall she put her hand
to the butt of her phaser.

"Anyone out there won't get very far." Rharn calmed the security officer,
"the rain will pick up before it calms."

"Oh No!" Izzy's voice went from one of concern about an incoming enemy to
one of concern for a friend. "Landwyn." She almost breathed his name when
she realised who it was.

Phia was quickest of the away team; she grabbed Izzy around her waist and
hauled her further into the bunker yelling into her friend ear. "You can't
go out there!"

Struggling the Vulcan hybrid was stronger but Izzy was by far better trained
she finally got free of the vice like clamp of the counsellor and ran to the
entrance to the bunker as small explosions echoed from outside.

Peter grabbed her hauling the small woman from the floor giving her no
friction to use to fight him. "Izzy, Izzy look." He whispered in her ear and
turned her towards the screen, nothing was standing, no one was out there.
Another explosion echoed in the sudden silence of the small bunker.

Izshlana let out a little whimper of pain and Peter handed her over to Phia.
The counsellor took her friend, held her tight and stroked her hair and then
she took a step back and looked down at the Alterian.

"Izzy." She said calmly pulling her chin up so they were looking eye to eye.
Izshlana saw her own friend's eyes glistening and shook her head.

"It's OK Phia; Ardy wasn't out there." She said softly.

Phia blinked and nodded. "I know." She admitted.

A squeak distracted the other members of the away team and they looked down
to see Bast and almost a duplicate, the two mammals talking in that high
pitched noise that was barely noticeable to most of the away team.

"They know were Aerdan is." Rharn declared after a moment, keeping her own
personal news of T'nnent to herself for a brief moment she looked around.
"And there's a safe passage to the Pleo holdings."

**

NRPG: Sorry I didn't answer any of the questions, although I thought Fest
might be able to give us a safe route to the Pleo holdings underground, it
makes sense to me that after turning the area around their home into a
killing field they'd give themselves a safe way in and out.

I do have half a plan but I'm not invested in anything so post away!
