"What stage is this?" (Cont'd from "Thanks and Blame") Location: USS STONEHENGE Scene: Landwyn's quarters Stardate: 2.80201.1526 The small woman stood staring, it was only standing here looking around the room that the realisation came to her, Landwyn had died; she pursed her lips and said it out loud. "Landwyn is dead." The sound echoed around the empty quarters, she stifled a sob by clamping her mouth shut. Then started to look around, Landwyn hadn't collected much, what furnishings he'd gotten had been simply to make his quarters more of a home because of his punishment for hitting Thomas. Izshlana picked up a picture on a coffee table of her and Landwyn they were laughing into the camera, next to it was her Landwyn, Ardy and Phia, even Phia had managed a smile for the picture. Izzy put them on one pile; another pile was forming with pictures of the Orla family. The quarters doors opened and Xav'ion stepped in. "Izzy?" he spoke softly and stepped forwards, "we missed you at the service." "This needed doing." She answered and moved to some boxes she'd brought, she began dropping the pictures into two boxes. "It could have waited." "Can you remove the furniture, it'll need to be recycled and replaced with standard issue stuff." Ardy nodded and looked around, "engineering will need to remove the kitchen." "Fine." She answered walking into his bedroom. It made her pause again when she saw the clothes spread about the place. Then taking a deep breath she stepped forwards, uniforms could be recycled, most she'd send to his family. Her friend followed her and stopped behind her, "he left a will." She looked over her shoulder to see Ardy fingering a device. "He left this for you." Izzy nodded and turned away. "I think it's a message." He continued bravely on in the face of adversity. "He got himself blown up, a message isn't going to…" she stopped and then steadfastly returned to silence. Ardy looked around the bedroom and sighed, "Izzy…" he began. "Unless you're going to tell me it was all a mistake and he's fine then whatever you're about to say won't be helpful." She interrupted so quietly Xav'ion had to step forwards to hear her. He sighed and placed the device on the table next to the bed. "I'll go and speak to engineering." "Thank you." =[/\]= Scene: Sickbay Aerdan paused at a doorway and stepped backwards into the room, he smiled at Izshlana's mother, "Izla," the Andorian greeted her with a nod. "Have you not been assigned quarters?" The elder Alterian glanced up and shook her head, "no, but that's ok, your nurses have been very good to me." Aerdan nodded, "really you should be in quarters though, how long were you planning on staying?" Izla shrugged pale blue shoulders, "I was waiting for Damal to arrive, he sent word he's left the GATEWAY." The doctor paused trying to decide whether he should tell the Alterian. Eventually he just nodded, "I'll find you some temporary quarters until he arrives." He offered and then backed away from the door. =[/\]= Scene: Crew Lounge -> Security Quarters Izshlana was sat at the bar, her hand clasped around a glass of brightly coloured liquid, she stared at it but couldn't build up the energy to even attempt the usual mimicry of the fluid. Glumly she lifted the glass and gulped it down looking at the barman who'd served her and ordered something else out of the small range of real alcoholic drinks. "Hi." She looked up at the voice and simply nodded in response as a security officer sat next to her, she knew him by face but not name. "Terry," he provided cheerfully and looked at her, she waited for the condolence she expected to come but instead got. "You look like you could do with a drink." Izzy didn't answer for a moment, then muttered a quiet. "Damn skippy." "You're only going to get synthanol here." He pointed out and Izshlana shook her head as the barman dropped a glass in front of her. "Actually," she said glumly. "We let a crate of alcohol get through on last shore leave for just such an event." Terry nodded, "in that case, I'll have one of what she's having." He looked at the bartender who nodded and got another drink for the new arrival. "Graveyard shift." Izshlana suddenly declared now she was sure where she recognised Terry from. He smiled and nodded, "that's right." The two drank in silence they got through one more drink before Terry began speaking up, regaling her with what he thought were entertaining stories, she didn't smile but she didn't tell him to get lost either. Finally after they must have gotten through the bottle Izzy tried to order another drink. "Sorry, we're all out." The bartender closed her down with a little shake of his head. Izshlana glared and tried to formulate an argument while holding onto the bar to stay upright. Her drinking companion interrupted. "It's alright, I've got a bottle of romulan ale in my quarters." The little woman shrugged and turned following Ensign O'Connor. They walked down the corridor, Terry humming a drinking tune under his breath half amused when Izzy joined in, they hit the turbolift and the tall man leaned over her as he called the deck out. She didn't respond initially when he kissed her, then she pushed him away. "No!" Terry shrugged, "look you're hurting I get that, I just wanted to help." She stared blankly at the wall and turned around, "how?" The force of his kiss pushed her back against the wall, after a moment she responded and when the doors opened he lifted her from her feet and along the corridor. =[/\]= Scene: Ardy's quarters -> Terry's quarters Phia looked up when Xav'ion entered the quarters, she'd been babysitting although the kids were in bed already sleeping peacefully as far as their step-mum was aware. "How did it go?" she asked, her voice softening when she saw how tired Xav'ion looked. The tall man shrugged and crossed to the sofa, he sat next to Phia and smiled as she reached up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind his ear, he tugged her near wrapping his arms around her, glad when she didn't resist. "It was a memorial service, it was sad and hard." He admitted, "and Izzy wasn't there." Phia bit her lip and then snuggled into his side, "I'll talk to her tomorrow." Xav'ion closed his eyes and leaned back in the sofa, content to just listen to Phia breath, "So I was thinking about having an engagement party." He began feeling her tense and move, he didn't open his eyes and tried to surpress the smile. Phia glared at him, "why?" "Well the kids are insistent on me doing this properly. Which of course means a black tie event." "Oh Of course." Phia almost snarled. "And would you like to pick my dress too?" Xav'ion laughed and finally opened his eyes he sat upright and pulled her against him breathing in her perfume. "Well we could always have a private party." The counsellors eyes narrowed but the door chime cut the discussion off, disentangling herself Phia moved away from Ardy who only half hid his amusement. "come in." The doors opened and Tayla Jes stepped through her eyes taking in the room and came to rest on the assistant security chief. "Sir." Ardy stood up, "What is it Lieutenant?" Jes took a deep breath, "I might be speaking out of turn which is why I came to you and not Commander Aspinall." Xav'ion raised an eyebrow impatient for the woman to finish, finally she blurted out. "I was in the crew lounge, I saw Izzy leave with Terry O'Connor, she was pretty drunk and you know he's basically a male tart and I just…" She didn't need to finish as Ardy was out of his quarter with Phia on his heals. "What is it?" Phia asked. "I figured she was going to do something stupid, I didn't expect this stupid." He answered. Terrys quarters were only a deck down and not far away so Ardy barrelled into his room only minutes later. The pair in the room separated as Terry looked up at the intruders. "Get outside right now." "These are my quarters." "And for disobeying a direct order you can spend the night in the brig." Xav'ion decided Izzy watched as the two men left arguing and looked up at Phia. "That was a bit uncalled for." Phia glared at her friend, "you can get out too, what where you thinking?" Izshlana shrugged, "I wasn't, for one glorious minute, I wasn't thinking." She stared at her friend challenging the blue woman to argue with her. Finally the counsellor shook her head, "let's get you home." She muttered helping Ensign Vort whether she liked it or not out of the room. ** NRPG: Sorry this is a bit rushed in parts; I'm away this weekend and wanted to get it finished, also apologies for the character centred-ness.
