"Therapy"

<continued from Joy's "What Stage Is This?"

=/\=

Location: USS STONEHENGE

Scene: Phia's office

Phia stood at her window, looking out onto the starry expanse. Killer was
happily wrestling with toy that her stepchildren gave him. Despite Xav'ion's
threats of an engagement party the Bolian/Vulcan was actually rather content
for the first time in a long time with her personal life.

However, her professional life was about to get interesting.

"Hey," Xav'ion said as he poked his head in Phia's office. "You wanted to
see me?"

"Yes, I did," Phia nodded as she turned around. "You need to cut it out."

The hybrid Sec/Tac nodded at that and waited a moment. "You know
conversations go much smoother when you tell me what we're talking about,"
he finally pointed out.

"You can't protect Izzy," Phia replied.

Ardy frowned at that. "She needs help."

 "She does," Phia nodded.

"She was going to make a mistake."

"So be it," Phia replied with a shrug of her shoulders. "But it was hers to
make. You going in like her father or big brother will only absolve her from
ever learning anything."

"I have to help," Ardy argued.

The CNS gave her fiance a long look. "Then help. But you can't live her
life for her."

Scene: Gymnasium->Corridor->HD 1

Izzy was busy hitting a punching bag when Phia walked into the gym. Having
figured out that the Alterian was here, the CNS had changed into her workout
clothes. Walking up behind the punching bag, Phia held onto it to give it
some resistance from Izzy's punchings.

"You here to check up on me," Izzy asked.

Phia had intended to do that but took note of the defensive tone in Izzy's
voice. "I like working out," the CNS replied. Wincing a bit as Izzy landed a
kick on the bag, the CNS shifted her position to keep the bag in place.
"Besides does offering to check up on someone the day after she almost makes
a mistake sound like me?"

Izzy shrugged and then decided to go with the easier answer, "your idea of
a workout has involved gentle stretching since you left Intel." She took a
swing at the punch bag ignoring Phia who was watching her intently.

Phia scoffed at her friend, "it's called yoga and there's nothing gentle
about it."

Izshlana offered the tall woman a vague smile and then looked around, "how
about we take a run?" she suggested already walking away towards the track
that circled the gymnasium.

The counselor grumbled already knowing that the smaller woman was going to
push them hard so she wouldn't have to talk, Izzy had always been easy to
read and now was no different.

"Weight training," Phia offered up as she scanned the room.

"This wasn't up for debate!" Izzy snapped.

CNS looked over at her friend. "No?" she asked.

"No," Izzy heaved out. "Some things aren't always up for debate."

 "Why not?" Phia asked.

Izzy didn't become flustered or frustrated. She looked startling calm at
the moment. "Because somethings just aren't," Izzy replied.

"No, somethings aren't up for debate," Phia agreed quietly. "How you deal
with it though always is."

"Well right now I intend to deal with it in a selfish and juvenile way."
Izzy snapped back. "My workout my choice." She moved off to the track
pointedly ignoring whether her friend was following or not.

After a minute Phia followed her but not as far as the track, "if you act
like a child people will have to treat you like one."

"What you going to do? Spank me, give me extra chores." The smaller woman
turned her eyes boring into Phia's

"Well I could ground you." She said thinking about it,

Izshlana looked at her friend incredulously, "what because I want to run
the track?"

"Well I was thinking more because you won't talk to your counselor and you
obviously need to but if you want to keep up with the analogy then sure why
not."

Izzie sighed and shook her head, "I don't want to talk."

 "I know," Phia nodded.

Izshlana gave her a friend a look. "And you don't even like talking!"

The blue woman pursed her lips in contemplation. "True," she admitted.

"So then why are we talking?" Iz asked.

Phia sighed at that. "Because you need to get this out of you." When Iz
didn't say anything to that the CNS sighed. Folding her arms the CNS
explained, "Think of it like...when Scarlet has a hairball." Frowning at her
own metaphor the blue hybrid stuck with it. "She doesn't feel better until
it's expelled from her. This is the same thing – no matter what else you do
you won't feel better until you talk."

"And then I'm all better?" Iz asked.

"No," Phia sighed. "Talking won't make you all better but it's a step in
the right direction."

"Why walk when you can run?" Izzy asked.

"You gotta walk before you can run," Phia replied.

Izzy stared at her friend, "he got blown up Phia," she said softly, "I saw
him get blown up, and then it was like a knife in the stomach, I mean, we
were just getting to know each other, and, and it was such a stupid waste, a
stupid rock blew up and took him with it."

Phia didn't make a move to interrupt so Izzy carried on.

"So then I did what I had to do, I finished the mission, I came home, only
now I don't feel a thing, I know it should hurt, I know I should be crying
or angry or something. Only I'm not, I don't feel anything Fi." She paused,
"Except for tired, tired I can do, oh and hungry but I'm not sure that's
really applicable."

Phia nodded at that. "Do you miss him?"

Izzy gave her friend a look. "What kind of question is that?"

"It's a question," Phia replied. "Do you miss him?"

 "It's a stupid question," the Sec/Tac responded.

"Answer it Izshlana," Phia replied. "Do you miss him?"

"Of course I do!" Izzy replied, more exhausted than angry.

The CNS walked towards her friend. "And you cared for him right?"

 "Right..." Iz replied warily.

Phia stopped her walking and stood before the shorter woman. "It's not that
you don't feel anything," she said softly. "You feel plenty..."

Izshlana shrugged looking almost owl like as she gazed wide eyed her
friend, "well right now, all I want to do is sleep, but when I lay down my
head just gets full of things." Again she shrugged, "and I don't know what
to do next. I want to feel something, just not this."

The CNS inhaled and considered the options. "Okay, then let's do
something." Turning around on her heel, and expecting Izzy to follow, the
blue woman walked through the gymnasium and then out to the corridor. Once
Izzy was next to her the CNS kept walking down the corridor and unexpectedly
found Aerdan Jos walking towards them; there was another person who needed
help. Pointing to the CMO she said, "You – you're with us. Let's go."

Aerdan's antennae came together briefly before separating. "Where to?"

"We are going to burn off some energy on the holodeck," Phia replied. "And
you're with us."

 "Why?" Aerdan replied.

Phia fixed him with a stare. "Why not?" she parried back. Snapping her
fingers she called out to the Alterian and Andorian, "Come along."

The two shared a brief look Aerdan asked after falling in step. "What's
this about?" he muttered, "and it's not going to involve someone ending up
in the brig again is it?"

Izshlana managed a small smile and shrugged her pale shoulders. "I don't
know, but she seems to be on a mission, and when Phia's on a mission I'd
rather not get in her way."

They arrived at a holodeck not far from the gymnasium and Phia seemed to
take some time pouring over the controls before ushering the other two
aliens into the black and gold grid lined room.

"Computer, run RISA-OW-1," Phia replied. With that the space around them
shimmered and suddenly the three were transformed into jungle wear clothing
and in the middle of a rain forest. "Alright then," Phia replied with a
smart nod of her head. "This is a program designed to have you become the
first explorers on RISA."

Aerdan furrowed his brows a bit. "Ishe mentioned something about this."

"Yes, yes, it's an educational program," Phia sighed. "Relax there's no pop
quiz."

"Wait we're about to discover Risa, don't people already live on Risa?"
Izzy asked slightly confused as she tugged at the outfit and then almost
laughed when she saw the slightly bemused look reflected in Aerdan's face.

"Izzy you do know we're on the holodeck, right?" Phia sighed.

 "Of course," Iz replied.

"And that on the holodeck you can have it be whatever or, here's the key
part, *whenever* you want," Phia pointed out.

"Right," Iz nodded. "So aren't there people on RISA?"

The Bolian/Vulcan closed her eyes. "I'm gonna find a rock and hit you
soon," she muttered. "I'll call it physical therapy."

NRPG: Izzy grieves, Phia tries to help and Aerdan gets roped in. What else
could you ask for in a post? :-)
