“Get it Together” (continued from “Therapy”)
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Location: USS STONEHENGE
Stardate: 2.80205.1515
Scene: Holodeck
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The next few minutes were filled with a little
bit of muttering back and forth between the Counselor
and the Assistant chief of Security, which punctuated
the expanses of silence. As they crested a short
hill, it opened out into a beautiful view of the
plains beyond, punctuated by a river and a frothy
waterfall. Phia let the whole view sink in for a few
seconds before turning to both of her recalcitrant
companions and smirking. “Well, what do you think?”
Izshlana furrowed her brows together a bit.
“Very…. green?” she started.
The counselor let her brows drop into a clouded
expression. “Anything but green?”
The smaller woman gave a sigh and sucked in a
breath. “Fluffy green?” Her heart wasn’t into it.
The Bolian rolled her eyes a bit and turned to
face her second victim. “So, what about you, Doc?
Anything else insightful to add besides ‘green’?”
Aerdan knit his snowy brows together. “It’s a
lovely scenic view.” He offered evenly.
The counselor nodded and waved her hands a bit.
“Ok, anything else?”
The Andorian sighed a bit. “It’s very hot?”
“What?” the other blue woman flung back.
“It’s very hot…” his tone indicated that it was
something he was simply going to have to endure.
Phia blinked once again and slammed the open palm
of her hand into her forehead before throwing both
hands up in the air. “Ok… you two are impossible.”
Izzie blinked “Does this mean we can go home
now?” she asked lightly.
“No!” The counselor had something of a ferocious
streak lighting her eyes. “No, we’re going to try a
new program.” She put both hands on her hips and
shouted to the computer “computer, run PHIA-SIM-067.”
When she was done with the command she indulged in a
smug grin at them both. Around them the beautiful
Risian landscape melted into a bland series of rolling
hills all painted in a matte grey.
The little Alterian turned around, taking it all
in, and wrinkling her nose. If RISA couldn’t cheer
them up, then this place would land even the perkiest
person into depression. “What planet is this?” she
asked.
“None…. Yet.” Phia grinned evenly. “This program
is designed to let you create your own.” She let that
sink in before adding, “Both of you together. You
each put in your input – one at a time – and you
cannot override the other person’s input unless it’s a
mutual decision.” She turned towards the door. “Have
fun!”
Aerdan furrowed his brows, turning towards her,
“where are you going?”
“I’m going to get you two some refreshments… I’ll
be back in about fifteen minutes! You should have
your planet done by then.” The counselor gave them a
wicked grin. “And if you planet self destructs, then
you have no choice but to go back to RISA.” She gave
them both a merry wave before the doors closed behind
her. She had played with this program before. Even
with one person, their indecisions often ended up with
an incompatible mix of characteristics. With two,
chaos was almost assured.
~*~*~*~*~
Izzie found a smooth grey rock in the middle of
the bland grey plains to sit on. “Why does she want
us to make planets anyways?”
“Probably because she wants to teach us a
lesson.” The Andorian doctor guessed. “I’m betting
the program isn’t user friendly.”
Izzie folded her arms across her chest. “Well,
lets find out.” She stood and looked around at the
landscape. “Computer, I would like mountains.”
Big tall rocky peaks appeared, each with their
own dainty snowcap, and they found themselves perched
on a plateau halfway up a mountain.
Looking down at their jungle dude in the high
mountains Aerdan blinked. He already hated feeling so
exposed; the change of scenery didn’t help.
“Computer, can you change our clothing?”
[Negative. Clothing will be provided as
appropriate to the setting one the setting is
complete.] The voice was smarmy-sweet.
“That figures.” He drew in a breath. “Ok, fine.
Computer, I would like those mountains to be
forested.” Aerdan added. A lush carpet of vegetation
appeared on the mountains.
Izzie bit her bottom lip and looked around.
“Computer, make the season winter.” There was a howl
from the edges of the holodeck as large piles of snow
materialized and a wicked winter windstorm cropped up.
They ended up grabbing on to tress, still in their
jungle gear, trying to not get blown away.
“Computer, make the weather calm and sunny!”
Aerdan made his voice rise above the wind. In another
second it stopped, sun shining down through the frosty
trees.
Izzie wrapped her arms about herself from the
wind and shivered. “Computer, I want it warmer.”
After she said it, she realized that it was probably a
bad suggestion. “Wait no, I want it to be spring!”
[Last command is unacceptable. No player may
give two commands in a row.] the computer shot back
with its trademark calm female voice. Above them in
the holodeck, the warmer temperature was melting the
snowcaps. The mountainsides were turning to mud and
snow was falling in large clumps.
Aerdan turned, pinning his antennae to the top of
his head. “The whole mountainside is melting!”
“Command it to do something else!” Izzie yelled
back, grabbing on to one of the trees once again. As
the rumble grew louder they watched big chunks of ice
fall past their heads.
Aerdan bit his bottom lip. “Computer, cancel the
avalance!”
[Do you wish to cancel this planet and start
over?] the voice came back, calmly.
“YES!” came both the Alterian’s and the
Andorian’s voice in a chorused unison. A large sheet
of snow disappeared just before it buried both of
them, leaving them panting slightly in the bland grey
plain.
“Alright. Check that. This program doesn’t just
fail to be user friendly… it’s downright sadistic.”
Aerdan muttered.
“Just like Phia is most times.” The aSec chief
murmured, sitting back down on the rock.
He twined his antennae together. “Why do you
stay friends with her, then?”
She looked up, her color changing slightly darker
as her eyes went wide. “What sort of question is
that? I stay friends with her because she has always
been there for me.”
Whether the doctor agreed or disagreed was
unknown. He perked a brow and kept his thoughts to
himself, leaving Izzie sitting there and feeling
rather open. She blinked a bit at him, trying to keep
quiet, but when she opened her mouth, words started to
tumble out. “She was the first person I met in
Starfleet that didn’t look at me as if I was some sort
of science experiment in some way. There’s not many
Alterians out there, and I wanted to be friends with
someone who was honest and helpful; even if it meant
that the honesty was grating.”
“Honest…” the word tripped off his tongue like a
breeze.
“Don’t you find her very honest?” the smaller
woman screwed her face up a little.
“No… I find her very … closed off.” Aerdan
murmured back.
Izhlana blinked a little, and offered up in a
somewhat dry and somewhat innocent tone, “Maybe she
reflects the personality of the person facing her to
some degree?”
The CMO shrugged a little. “Maybe.”
She folded her arms across her chest. “Well, we
can’t be closed off if we’re going to beat this
program.”
He walked slightly closer to the rock. “Nor can
we be too aggressive in our choices.”
“I’m not being aggressive!” She started, before
trailing off. Her mind remembered her workout just
prior to the holodeck. “Alright, I see your point”
she added. “Iso what do you like in a planet?”
“Quiet, somewhat cold, full of open spaces and
clean air, not many people or buildings or technology.
What do you like in a planet?”
Izshlana thought about this for a second. “Right
now I’m in the mood for something comforting, with a
warm home and some comfort food, with people I care
about.”
“All right, lets see if we can make it work…”

NRPG: Can Aerdan and Izzie work together? Can they
make a planet without having it self-destruct? Will
Phia send them both back to RISA? Will she beat them
with a brick?
