"Planets"

(Cont'd from "Get it together")

Location: USS STONEHENGE

Scene: Holodeck 2

Stardate: 2.70206.1219

"All right, let's see if we can make it work…"

Aerdan looked at Izshlana and began, "computer, make this an open plain."
Grass began to grow around their feet and spread out as far as the eye could
see.

Izzie paused while she thought this through, "OK computer to the right make
a landlocked lake."

Aerdan glanced at the small woman as a large lake appeared in the middle of
the plain. Slowly the two began to work together and both lost themselves in
the work of creating a planet with something for both of them. Aerdan
lowered the temperature although learning from their last mistake they made
it spring.

The scenary around the lake began to take shape with a small beach and tree
line, they even included flowers in the plateau, they were just beginning to
discuss life on the planet when Phia returned carrying a basket, she looked
around and then nodded. "Good." She declared.

"But if we replicated this scene around the whole planet the place would die
in minutes." She pointed out.

Her two patients turned and glared at her, Izzie's eyes which had briefly
flickered with life became dull, Aerdan crossed his arms across his chest
his eyes narrowed. "Why?" he snapped.

"Well you only have one lake, which wouldn't be able to maintain the water
supply needed." Moving Phia found a place on the plain overlooking the lake
and beach and placed a blanket on the ground. "Food and water." She beckoned
them over while she unpicked the picnic basket.

Izzie grudgingly stepped across and took a seat next to the basket. After a
moment Aerdan followed and looked at Phia, "we weren't finished."

"I know." The counselor nodded hiding the fact that she was impressed they'd
gotten even this little bit done. She looked from one to the other. The last
mission had been hard, Izzy had lost someone else she cared for and was
struggling to even begin to deal with that, Aerdan had been hurt while in
captivity and the pain reflected in his eyes. Although something in his
stance indicated it was more than that, Phia wasn't sure what but she began
to wonder if it was something about the Nocturians themselves.

Still she couldn't help either of them if they didn't want to speak and
right now they didn't want to speak. "So why did you choose this?" she asked
softly.

"I like water." Izzy answered as she found something sweet amongst the
savory food Phia had packed and munched into it.

Phia sighed and looked at Aerdan who shrugged blue shoulders, dipping his
antenna into his shorn hair.

Finally the counsellor dipped into the basket again and pulled out two
rubber bats, placing them on the floor she declared, "Either you can talk or
you can beat each other up with rubber bats."

The two officers glared at the counsellor who smiled happily and shrugged
her shoulders, "I've heard it helps in couple's therapy. It relieves stress
and aggression in a controlled way."

"We're not a couple." Aerdan pointed out.

"And you just stopped me relieving my stress and aggression in a controlled
way." Izzie grumbled at her friend.

"Yes, but you both look like you want to hit someone, I'd rather it wasn't
me."

Aerdan shook his head, "I have no intention of hitting anyone."

"And if I wanted to hurt someone I'd not use a bat." Izshlana pointed out.

"OK, so the bats were a bad idea, that's at least something we all agree on,
so talk. Communicate amongst the three of us, even if it's just about what
you created here." Phia said whilst she rummaged for a fork and found some
pasta to begin eating. She sighed at the silence, "Where did you get the
inspiration from?"

"I like low tech planets." Aerdan admitted, "Places untouched by sentient
life, or at least looked after so no one has damaged them."

Phia nodded her head, "Ok."

Izzie raised a hand "Andorians live underground don't they?"

"Yes, we take advantage of the heat in the moons core to provide warmth for
our cities." The blue man answered with a nod of his head.

"So I guess that leaves the surface almost totally untouched." Izzie pointed
out.

"Almost, but it's cold, much colder than this." He paused and then
explained. "Basically Andoria is a big ball of ice,"

"It has the art museum on it." Phia pointed out, "Andorians have created
some of the most beautiful art work of the last century."

"Have you ever been?" Aerdan asked, his eyes sparkled momentarily at the
shared interest.

Phia shook her head, "I've never been to Andoria." She admitted. Then
uncomfortable at the attention she was getting she switched to Izzie, "how
about you?"

"I've never been to Andoria either." The small woman answered.

Phia sighed and the doctor rolled his eyes. "What about Altha?"

"Oh." Izshlana pursed her lips and looked out across the lake. "Well it's
warmer than this, and more humid, Altha is mainly water, the clans live on
small islands. It's pretty." She finished with a little sigh.

Scene: XO's quarters

Peter stepped into his quarters to see Mathew sat behind a desk; he was
talking to someone so the commander quietly shrugged off his uniform jacket
and picked up one of Jackie's toys from the floor.

Finally the security chief closed the comm. Link and put his head in his
hands.

"Who was that?" Peter asked after a moment breaking the silence and walking
around the desk, he rubbed his husband's neck gently.

"The Orla's." Mathew answered hoarsely. "They asked if we could send the
body."

Peter sighed and leaned down kissing his husbands head. "I would have done
that." He said quietly.

Mathew nodded and turned in his seat he pulled the XO into his arms. "I
know, but it was my job." After a moment he looked up. "OK, let's do
something, that's a conversation I want to forget."

"Were they OK?" Peter asked softly.

Mathew groaned, "They've just lost their only son, oh they were very good.
His mum even managed to not cry until she was switching the link off." His
own eyes glistened and he stood up in a hurray. "Come on, let's pick the
kids up from school and go and do something."

Peter Aspinall looked at his husband and then nodded as he rose to his feet.
"OK." He said simply.

NRPG: Hurrah.

Sarah/Jamie/Peter *tags*

Peter I wanted to use Mathew to tell the Orla's about Landy and thought I'd
drop you half a scene at the same time.

Jamie: Hope I did ok, let me know if I need to change anything for next
time!
