"Small steps" (Cont'd from "Scars") Location: ATLIV II Scene: Airspace over the village Stardate: 2.80306.1045 The federation shuttle flew low over the area as they headed towards secondary location of the ATLEAVKITH settlement. In the pilots seat Peter was looking intently towards the ground whilst keeping an experienced eye on the area and the controls. In the co-pilots seat Xordin pursed his lips. "It was decided that the thames plateau and the plains were in the midst of enough industrial action, if we weren't careful we'd destroy the whole area with the mining up in the mountains and the deforestation. We set up this secondary site as a base to search the planet for other resources. They found furtile land and the site grew as some of our people decided to get away from it all. It turns out a high percentage of our people wanted nothing more than to live off the land." "I suppose it comes from living in spaceships for most of their life." Aerdan said in his usual soft lisping tone. "Probably." Xordin was none committal for a moment and then sighed. "Part of me wishes I could join them." "Why don't you?" Izzy asked quiet thus far the security officer looked up from the tactical console. "Well because I'm the spare to the heir. Plus some of us have responsibilities. I have a daughter and the navy to command." Izshlana huffed returning to her console and Xordin raised an eyebrow at Peter, the brit shrugged his shoulders. "She's a bit odd, we find it best to ignore her." "I heard that." Izzy retorted looking up. "And you'd best listen to me now, we're coming up to the site." Aerdan braced himself turning to the console. "scans aren't showing any lifesigns." He said softly. Xordin turned around a momentary sign of panic flashed across his face before he forced himself to subdue it. "None?" he asked. "That can't be right." The Andorian shrugged his shoulders. "That's just what the sensors say." He looked up and then back at the console. "Could anything be interfereing with them?" Xordin shook his head and then looked out the cockpit, a small village was starting to appear, one metallic building glinted in the sun, it was surrounded by small huts, to one side the fertile land was exposed and furrowed into lines. "Land on the other side of the village, there should be a landing site there." Peter nodded and raised the shuttle slightly as they skimmed over the metallic building, on the other side as the prince had promised was a landing site including 3 small fighter ships. The XO silently coaxed the shuttle to land apart from the standing naval units and waited until everything had settled. No ATLEAVKITH ran to meet them and Izshlana silently pulled her phaser from her hip pocket. "Is that necessary?" Xordin hissed already making his way to the door. Aerdan grabbed his medkit and then followed. "Yes." Izshlana retorted and passed them both so she landed first on the terracotta soil. "Very necessary, and you need to stop thinking of this as one of your villages and consider it a possible dangerous situation." Peter put a hand on Xordin's shoulder as the Brit dropped from the shuttle. "she's right." He said softly. "I've told Rharn we're here, let's explore slowly; One building at a time." He looked around his team. "Stay alert." =[/\]= Scene: Palace sickbay Phia stood in front of a door and then after a moment finally pushed it open. The noise was deafening, one of those dull roars of lots of people talking all at once, then a shout of pain would override it briefly and then the dull roar would fill your ears again. The heat was immense compared to that in the air-conditioned rooms outside because of the shear amount of bodies trying to pack into the room. Phia's eyes shifted around the room wounded were sat or lying on every available open bit of floor. A young woman, sat against a wall her knees pulled up to her chest caught the Vulcan/Bolians eyes, the two stared for a second before Doctor Ch'ana Vimireul interrupted their view. "You must be my backup." He declared. He looked older than the last time a federation crew had been on ATLIV, his eyes looked tired and his face had creased with worry lines. "I need someone in surgery, we have a constant stream of seriously injured, one man is bleeding out, he's going to need his leg amputated serious injuries are to the back, the screened area is being used as a second surgery." "I'm not a doctor." Phia managed to force out, she saw his face fall the friendly smile slipping to be replaced by panic. "I'm a counselor, but I can help." She half promised. Ch'ana stared at her. "I don't think talking will amputate a leg." Phia gave him a brief smile at the attempted joke. "No it won't." She agreed. "Where are the less injured, the ones we can move." Ch'ana indicated an area including the woman who'd been staring at the counselor. "those are moveable. But we have nowhere sterilized or safe to move them to." "We do." Phia answered. "Do you have any porters?" He stared blankly at her. "Orderlies, people who can help me move them." "No, everyone with medical training is busy, everyone without is digging out the survivors." "OK, I'll get you space and I'll see about more doctors." Phia promised. She stepped away and tapped her comm. Badge. "Phia to Cade." [[Cade here, what can I do for the resident shrink?]] Phia raised a black eyebrow. "Is sickbay ready for wounded?" [[Sickbay is always ready.]] There was a moment of silence. [[Actually I was starting to feel abandoned.]] "Aerdan is busy, prepare for arrivals and do me a favour, send me any doctors or nurses specialising in field medicine and triage, they're overwhelmed down here." [[Awwh, you asked for help.]] Cade gloated happily. "Just do it." Phia answered before slapping her hand to her comm. Badge. Then she took a deep breath. "Phia to Rogers and Hammerstein." [[Rogers and..]] [[…Hammerstein here]] "Good, get the counselling staff round up and in a shuttle. Send them down here and warn them I need them to get their hands dirty…. Actually scrap that just get them down here." Phia took a deep breath and then looked at the job at hand. "Oh this is going to be fun." She muttered to herself. =[/\]= Scene: Outside the palace. Mathew finished separating the team of security officers who'd just arrived into two and given them orders to go to the two hardest hit areas to help clear rubble and search for survivors and then turned to find Kiros tricorder in hand. "I think I've managed to modify this enough it should help the search for survivors." The engineer declared and handed the two tricorders one to each team, "let me know if it has any glitches and I'll fix them." The Security chief gave a brief smile and then turned to his guys. "You heard the man, go vamoosh." Once they'd gone he turned to Kiros. "So we need to figure out who attacked the colony." "I'm going to ask the king or an engineer for the readouts from the system sensors the alarms went off so surely they have something." Mathew nodded. "OK, while you're there see if anyone picked up the black boxes from the destroyed fighters, I'll go and look up there." He pointed upwards to where the shield had failed and the palace had took damage. "hopefully there will be some residual energy." He gave the cadet a brief smile. "Meet me when you get the sensors, hopefully between us we can figure out what we're dealing with." Kiros gave a small smile and then nodded looking back towards the palace as Mathew strode purposely away he wondered if he really wanted to go straight to the king," ** NRPG: And there we have it. I hope I've given some of you ideas if not yell at me and I'll send you some of the options I've been playing with.
