"Big, Black and silent" (Cont'd from "Inner Chaos") Location: ATLIV II Scene: Village Stardate: 2.80319.1225 The small group wandered towards the large central building, Izshlana at point slowly pushed the main door open and carefully sidestepped into the room and out of the light. Xordin a step behind her looked around the door and moved into the dark room. He was silent while he listened to a hum of energy somewhere in the room. "Emergency power." He informed. Izzie nodded as Peter and Aerdan stepped into the room, the Alterian fished her light out of a uniform pocket and knocked it on holding both hands in front of her, her phaser arm resting on the light to keep it stable. "Stay together." Peter ordered and then looked at Xordin. "Where is the power coming from?" "The control room." Xordin answered. "It also serves as a bunker, if the village had warning of an attack they'd be in here." "Lead on then." Peter said firmly gritting his teeth. Xordin nodded and beckoned them forwards, by the light of the Starfleet officer's torches they moved slowly and carefully until Xordin stopped by a door that refused to open, he touched the control panel and then slowly removed the cover. With Izzie's eyes and phaser trained on the door he pushed two wires together, they sparked and then the door slid partially open and stopped. Xordin swore and tried to look through. "It's dark I can't see a thing." Peter handed him a torch and the prince tried to sweep the room with the light. "It's no good." Izzie sighed. "I can get through there, mind out." She moved past the men handing Xordin her phaser and light as he stepped out of her way and then carefully squeezed sideways through the small gap, she winced as her tail caught in the door but then with a wiggle popped out the other side. The men gathered around the door Xordin carefully passed her the phaser and light and she turned sweeping the room. "No one here; lots of consoles though." She muttered moving around the room Xordin watched her counting in his head he finally called out. "That one should put power on." Izshlana stopped and stared at the console. "It's written in foreign." Peter groaned and Xordin rolled his eyes. Aerdan dropped his eyes uninterested now he looked at his tricorder trying to get some readings from the building they were in. "Try the big green button." Xordin said slowly as though he was talking to someone simple. "It's kind of the universal symbol for *on*" Izzy muttered under her breath and glared in the general direction of the door. "Not true, the Alterians use Orange for on and blue for off." "Well you're just weird." Xordin answered. "Or not easily manipulated by humans." Peter coughed loudly. "Any chance you could argue after you've pressed the button Iz?" The security officer muttered and then turned and pressed the button, the doors slammed shut, the humming noise stopped and the officers all stood in silence and darkness. "Oh yes. It was obviously the green button." Izzy called through the now shut doors. Xordin managed to suppress a laugh. "It's restarting." As soon as he said it the lights came on and numerous noises began in the background. "See." Once everything had settled Xordin palmed the door and it slid open he stepped through and looked around at the control room. With one hand he pointed at the consoles explaining each one. "Power, water, irrigation system, shields, sensors…" "Your village has shields and sensors?" peter asked. "Yes, we equip everything with shields to help protect against the ten day storm." Xordin answered. "And the first point of this outpost was to try and find sustainable sources of energy and produce." Peter nodded and moved to the sensors. "Anyway we can see if they found anything? Maybe disturbed anything?" Aerdan was also moving to the sensors. "What's the range on them?" He asked. "Maybe if they abandoned the village we can pick them up." Xordin nodded to them both and quickly supplied the answers to both their questions. "Theirs a mineral deposit not far from here, high concentrations of latinum." Pausing he continued. "No life signs on sensors." Peter sighed. "Alright lets head back to the city." He said softly. Izzy was stood by the shields console. "Would the shields be on normally?" "No they'd interfere with sensors." Xordin answered coming around to her side, "but all it takes is a quick flick of this button and they'd power up." "How long would that take?" "A few seconds, no longer." Aerdan looked up. "You're a space fairing race, would you have equipped the outpost with a commander?" "No." Xordin shook his head, "this was a civilian expedition." "What about a black box?" Peter asked. All three aliens looked at him in confusion. "A sensory device that monitors communications, engines, that kind of thing." "Yes." Xordin nodded. "It should be around here." =[/\]= Scene: Palace Rharn was sat with King Cadrin Modarny sipping a cup of tea carefully. "This is really very good." The King smiled at that. "Something this new world provided us with." He answered calmly. "You seem to have settled in well." Rharn answered cautiously watching the king carefully. He was still a powerfully built man; he had the look of someone used to command although something about his eyes worried herim. "Well enough, with the sentient bird life and 10 day storms, we've managed everything the planet has thrown at us, this is new though, an external enemy." Rharn nodded and held her council until the doors opened and an exasperated Kiros burst through the doors. "Captain." He began. She glanced up and nodded calmly responding with. "Cadet, did you find the information?" "Yes ma'am." He answered. "I ran it through the systems in the palace but unfortunately the information is too grainy, there's no decent visual on them and…" the Trill paused his eyes drifting to the king and he fidgeted. "I might be able to clean them up with the engineering systems on the STONE." Rharn glanced at the king who nodded his head the once. "Take the next transport with wounded then." Herim ordered. "We have shuttles Captain." Cadrin spoke up. "Ask a pilot to run you up." Kiros nodded and turned on his heel he hurried from the room to bump into Mathew looking flustered. "Cadet where are you off to?" "I need to clear up the details on this." He waved the disc at the commander. "I've got permission to go to the STONEHENGE." "I'll come with you." Mathew responded and headed from the palace next to the younger man. "How are we getting there?" Kiros pointed to where a pilot was walking towards them. "He's taking us." =[/\]= Scene: Palace sickbay Phia stood in the centre of chaos. She would have liked to claim it was organised chaos but had to admit to herself that no, it was just chaos. "I've written this book…" "…." "…We can all talk about it on the way back." She sighed. "I don't know what would be worse, having a building fall on you or relying on that lot to take me to safety." Ardy muttered he leaned down and kissed Phia on top of her head. "Don't I'm sweaty and covered in blood." "You're a sight for sore eyes." Ardy corrected her as she turned around he pulled her into a hug. "And they're a crack team of medical professionals." Phia suddenly replied defending her team. Xav'ion grinned and nodded. "Yes they are." "Where have you been anyway?" She muttered going on the offensive. Ardy shrugged, "Digging people out of the town hall, it's been completely destroyed." He blinked and then forced a smile. "How's it been in here?" Phia stared at him. "A medical nightmare." He nodded and started to step away. "I have to get back." He said softly. "Be careful." Phia managed a weak smile. "You too." She said quietly and then turned back to the patient she was trying to move. =[/\]= Location: USS STONEHENGE Scene: Sickbay Beds were filling up quickly, with walking wounded, people with flesh wounds, generally those stable enough to be moved. So far Cade was disappointed, nothing had come up that was juicy. Arjan took a breather and stood next to his colleague. "Well we're holding up so far." Cade made a huffing sound. "You realise that Ford is keeping all the good cases to himself don't you." He muttered. "Yes Cade." Arjan grinned, "That's exactly what he's doing, keeping all the interesting patients for him and sending you the boring ones." Cade sighed loudly. "Still I will suffer in silence and get on with my work." "Right." The other civilian didn't seem too sure but he hid behind his smirk until Cade rounded on him. "If I see another grazed knee I'm going to hit someone." "Hopefully not the guy with the grazed knee." Arjan answered seriously. "Oh you're no use." Cade muttered, "You're meant to inspire me, push me, and encourage me to do my best." "And then you'll grumble and spend the next 20 minutes procrastinating." Ar jan answered smirking he looked up as the doors opened. "Oh look, more grazed knees." =[/\]= Location: ATLIV II Scene: Palace TI: 20 minutes later The senior staff had been gathered even Aerdan had been pulled away from sickbay again while Kiros returned from the ship with Mathew. The two men were last into the room and their entrance brought the small room to a silence all eyes turned to them as Mathew began speaking while Kiros handed a set of PADD's around the room. "The weapon scars on the palace are definitely not Dominion; I went back to the HENGE to see if I could match the damage pattern and frequency to anything on our records. I can't." The security chief began speaking. "Whatever attacked you is something we've not come across before. Or if we have has never found its way into the ships database." Kiros took up the story. "On the PADD's is the cleaned up sensor images from the system sensors." He paused while all officers looked to the PADDs and watched as something swept past the sensors, the images where grainy but whatever it was was definitely large and dark. They watched in silence while fighters were scrambled and then promptly take care of by three phaser shots one for each fighter unit. Then the ship shimmered and disappeared. Rharn stood up. "They're still here?" S/he asked herim's lips quivering at the thought. "Maybe Ma'am." Kiros answered "those are the last images." ** NRPG: DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUU Joy Phillips The madness behind Lt J.G.
