"Starfleet Orders Will Not Be Denied"
(Continued from Joy's "Big Black and Silent")
####################
Location: USS STONEHENGE
Stardate: 2.81704.2106
Scene: CO's Ready Room
Rharn Alcedo, stretched and then continued to stretch.
Claws slipped from their sheaths and made a
satisfying glinting flash in the dim light. The
Nocturian Captain yawned. All of her senses, and she
had many of them, were slowly pinging.
With worry, anticipation or loss she could not tell
yet. Something was coming, that much she was sure of
but what that was was not yet clear, and as
premonitions were not something she normal prescribed
to the NOCTURIAN Captain decided to ignore it for now.

Location: UNKNOWN VESSEL
Scene: Desolated Bridge
"This will be my last communication...." The young
Captain swallowed hard, "There are only three of us
left now and our transformations are almost complete."
He closed his eyes and his untidy blonde hair fell
across a dirty forehead. Pain, worry and fear were
etched deeply into his features. "I for one will be
glad when this is over one way or the other."
Again there was a slight pause, "We have lost too many
for this last ditch attempt to fail." Slowly the
figure pulled himself upright, "This is a warning to
all vessels: regard this ship as a plague vessel. On
no account approach this vessel. If anyone dares to
cross our dark doors then I can only pray that your
souls will find peace."
He punched a button to save his short message and then
punched in another code to put as much power into
their vessels shields as possible, leaving just enough
to project the message out across the vast expanse of
space.
"You are ready Mikal?" The female voice was soft but
again there was no getting away from the pain that
laced it.
"Yes." He nodded and moved across to a petite figure
and grasped her hand, "As ready as I can be."
"Trellin is waiting for us in sickbay."
"Then we should not keep him waiting. The others?"
"Are still contained behind the barriers, but they
will overrun the facilities within the next hour."
She tried to look strong for him. "Which is why
Trellin wants us in sickbay now."

Location: USS STONEHENGE
Scene: CO's Office
{{Rharn, Peter.}} Mad'hron Zanders nodded her head,
{{Good to see you both.}}
"You did request us to." Rharn looked calm, her red
skin a complete contrast with the pale skin of the
tall Vulcan hybrid on the viewscreen.
Peter smirked, "We figured it was important."
{{Isn't it always in the great scheme of Starfleet.}}
Maddie steepled her fingers and leant her elbows on
her desk, {{They've found a derelict vessel floating
around a black hole.}}
"Floating around?" Rharn looked surprised.
{{Somehow they managed to get their vessel into
geostationary orbit above this black hole.}} Mad'hron
informed them, {{There is an exclusion zone around the
vessel.}}
"So the bad news is?" Peter asked his former CO.
{{Starfleet want you to go and investigate this
vessel."}}
"And the exclusion zone is for?"
{{A form of plague.}} Maddie looked sad, {{The powers
that be think that it can be used.}}
"For the general good?" Peter snorted.
Rharn shook her head, "I don't believe this, there are
more appropriate vessels out there for this then us.
Besides we are presently working with the ATLEAVKITH
and their current situation." She protested.
{{There are and there are not.}} Maddie looked at the
other two people on the other side of the COMM
channel, {{The STONEHENGE is the better vessel as you
have the military capabilities as well as the state of
the art sickbay.}}
"But what about the ATLEAVKITH?"
{{There are two medical transports that should arrive
within the next hour and they have an escort of two
Defiant Class Ships. We need you to be ready to leave
as soon as they arrive.}} Maddie glanced between the
Nocturian and British man, {{It has been decided that
the families remain behind. There will be plenty of
room for them on the other vessels.}}
"Oh goody." Peter muttered.

Location: DERELICT SHIP
Scene: Corridors: Lower Decks
There was a low grunt and a piece of bulkhead was
tossed casually down the corridor. A huge black
shadow slinked across the narrow lit gap. Sniffs
indicated that the figure was trying to assess its
safety. It was being hunted and it knew it, it was
also at the same time doing the hunting.
The part of the brain of the creature that had once
been Vulcan remembered the way to the Sickbay.
Perhaps it thought that there would be help there.
It lifted it's head once more and sniffed the fetid
air once more. Dim light glistened on tusks that
curled from the beasts mouth. Turning it grunted and
headed for the next junction.
-[/\]-
Scene: Sickbay
Trellin nodded grimly as the two remaining officers
entered the heavily fortified sickbay. "Almost done."
He muttered.
"You have figured out what caused our mutations?"
Mikal asked softly.
"No." Trellin shook his head, "I don't have a clue,
something is basically rewriting our DNA."
"Are we de-evolving?" The small female science
officer asked.
"No." Trellin glanced up from his microscope. "No if
we were it would be pretty simple to fix. No this is
something much more advanced. And I can't stop it."
"But you think you may have managed to pause it's
progress?"
"Possibly." Trellin looked at the other two officers,
"Our best hope is suspended animation, or a controlled
coma. That and hoping that whoever created this will
find us and come help us."
He motioned behind him, "I've prepared our beds and
re-enforced the shields as much as I am able to. The
rest is in the hands of the gods, as they say."
Mikal helped Helania onto the first of the beds.
"Good dreams."
"And you." She smiled at him and then calmly closed
her eyes.
Mikal took the bed next to the science officer and
Trellin took the last bed. He hit a button and the
consoles around the beds came up and over their
chests. Tubes snacked down and attached themselves to
their arms and legs. Within seconds the three were
unconscious.

Location: USS STONEHENGE
Scene: CO's Ready Room
Rharn looked at the two requests and glanced at Peter.
"What do you think?"
"Well Izzy's is somewhat unusual but I can understand
why she wishes to remain here until the situation is
sorted. Besides Captain Browning has already assured
me that they will make a runabout or shuttle available
to bring her back to us immediately the situation is
back under control." The Brit smiled fondly, "And
then Cade's is another obvious request."
"I can see no reason to keep Dr Foster on the ship."
Rharn smirked, "Although I shall miss him."
"I believe he will leave a big hole in all of the
crews' lives Rharn."
"Indeed." Rharn quickly inscribed her name across
both the PADDs. "Can I leave the details in your
capable hands."
"Of course. Captain Browning has informed us that the
small fleet will be here within the next two hours."
Peter informed his CO.
"Good. In that case we will leave in two hours thirty
minutes. Leave a shuttle for Dr Foster. We can pick
it up the next time we swing past the GATEWAY STATION.
Are there any other transfers?"
"Not presently." Peter chewed his lip, "Perhaps we
should send a small detail with Cade."
"Well he is flying back into an unknown situation. See
to it. Also inform all departments that I want us
ready for any and all situations immediately we
depart."
"Aye, Ma'am." Peter inclined his head and tossing a
short salute left the room.
Rharn settled back into her comfortable chair and took
a few deep breaths.
**You are feeling more comfortable?** Bast asked his
companion.
//Somewhat.// Rharn smiled, //I have been somewhat
concerned about the sudden disappearance of the
villagers.//
**You will not let that rest.**
//No, I have already requested that any readings be
sent straight to the STONEHENGE.//
**You will return?**
//Of course, our new orders may take precedence but
that does not mean that I will willingly leave Izzy
behind and then find her own way back to us.// Rharn
rose to her feet, //I need to change my uniform. Are
you coming?//
**I will meet you there.** Bast informed his taller
companion and then leapt up to the small opening next
to the jeffries tube.
//What is that?//
**Peter informed me that it was called a Bast door.**
//Seems appropriate.// Rharn was laughing as she
stepped back through the doors and out onto the
Bridge.

Scene: Engineering
Cadet Kiros Khan looked through the itinery for the
various sections. His hands flying across the console
controls as he pulled up the various schematics for
the STONEHENGE.
Ronnie Zanders paused on her way past to the warp
core. "Everything working?"
"Aye Lieutenant." Kiros answered. "In perfect
working order."
"Just the way I like it." Ronnie smiled, "If you
spot any blips let me know."
"Is there anything I can do?" The Trill Engineer
asked.
"Yep, I could do with a level 1 diagnostic being run
on both the warp and impulse engines."
"Fine."
"You have an hour to do both." Ronnie calmly tossed
over her shoulder as she disappeared through the doors
into the cavern that housed the warp core.

Scene: CO's Quarters
Rharn quickly pulled a brush through her electric blue
hair. A few deft turns with her hands and the mass of
curls was bound sedately at the nape of her neck.
Caving in the NOCTURIAN urges of having elaborate
styles she slid some crystal grips in at the back,
almost hidden but enough for her to not feel naked.
She regarded her face and chewed slightly on her
bottom lip. Turning her head to one side she regarded
the tattoos around her right eye. Only a slight shade
darker than her natural crimson it took a practiced
eye to see them.
A claw traced the intricate pattern and Rharn tried to
decide if she should extend them down her neck. The
door chimes broke her revere.
"Come." Rharn called and shut her eyes in an
automatic defensive reflex. The lights from the
corridor always blinded her if she forgot to do this.
"Counsellor Phia a pleasure as always. Will you sit?"
Phia stalked into the room. Her Vulcan/Bolian face
was taut with worry and anger. "Shall we cut out the
pleasantries?" The Counsellor snapped.
"As you wish, I presume this is about Izzy?"
Phia paused, "Of course this is about Izzy. What do
you think you are doing allowing her to stay behind?"
"Allowing our Sec/Tac Officer some room to breath."
Rharn lifted a large mug and took a sip of the
steaming liquid. "I see no need to deny her request."
"She is still grieving for Landy."
"I know that."
"Then she should be with her friends."
"I am afraid that this is a point on which we shall
have to agree to disagree on Counsellor." Rharn
regarded the blue skinned female. "I strongly believe
that this is something that Izshlana should do for
herself. She believes that she has abilities and
strengths to enable her to be an asset with the
ongoing investigations. And I agree with her."
"I still think that this is the wrong decision..."
Phia snapped.
"The wrong decision for who Phia?" Rharn paused, "Her
or yourself."
"Don't try and out Counsel me Captain."
"I would not dream of." Rharn smiled, "But do you
feel that Izzy cannot cope in this situation? Is she
going to be a detriment to the investigation? Will
she be unable to fulfil her duties?"
The crimson skinned alien asked softly, "Or is it that
you feel a maternal need to protect our young charge?"
Phia opened her mouth to retort, but snapped it shut,
"You know that I can't dispute that Izzy is fit for
duty."
"Good."
"But I still feel that you are making a mistake."
"Your concerns are duly noted Counsellor, however, my
decision does stand. Izzy will remain behind to
continue the investigation into the missing
villagers." Rharn lifted a clean jacket from the back
of a chair, "Was there anything else?"
"No." Phia shook her head.
"Then go and make use of the next thirty minutes to
say your goodbyes. Or do you wish to remain behind
also?"
"No I shall come." Phia muttered. "Somebody needs to
keep an eye on everyone else."
"And I can think of none more appropriate to that
task." Rharn smiled, "Now if you can excuse me I have
to return to the Bridge. As always Counsellor it was
a pleasure trading comments with you."
She waited for the tall woman to stalk back through
her doors and then started to laugh softly. "Well
that certainly blew the cobwebs away."

NRPG: Ok here we go guys, we shall be leaving
ATLEAVKITH over the next couple of days. So if anyone
has anything pressing to post can you do so now. If
anyone even wants us to post us leaving then feel free
to do so.
Otherwise just quick posts about getting departments
ready would be great.
