"Furtive Movements Part 2"
(Cont'd from "Furtive Movements")

Location: E4
Scene: Corridor -> Captain Mad'hron Zanders Office
Stardate: 2.80521.1414

Mad'hron paused outside of her office; something was wrong although there
was no tangible evidence to prove it something in the air was making that
sixth sense, the one that came with being a Starfleet officer for so long,
scream at her. Cautiously she tapped her comm. Badge and was only half
surprised that when asking for her XO she received only static.

She scanned the locking mechanism and noticed nothing obvious, her Vulcan
hearing strained through the closed doorway already knowing she was fighting
a losing battle. Captain Zanders sighed brushed her hand through her hair
and stepped forwards, taking a modicum of comfort from the doors hissing
open as they normally would.

A figure sat in the dark, dressed in black sat on the high back of the
chair, feet planted firmly on the seat something was being passed from one
gloved hand to the other.

Maddie stood still, whoever it was knew she was in the room now. "I called
security, they'll be here any second."

"There's a communications block on the corridor outside, no one will know
you're even out of range until they try your badge." Katlina Potter looked
up with a small little smile. "Morning Sis."

Mad'hron crossed the room in two steps she grabbed the smaller woman in a
hug briefly and then pushed her back to arms length punched her soundly in
the face. "What the hell do you think you're doing scaring me half to death?
Honestly woman, some kind of communication would be nice." Pausing for a
breath Maddie didn't see Kat grinning, she hid it well when the Captain
turned on her. "You go missing from the MAC, Xana is going mad, Starfleet
have a full on witch hunt after you. What the hell did you do?"

"I stole a Founder child." Kat answered simply.

Maddie turned their eyes met and she glared at the younger woman intently.
"Explain." She said simply, like a CO expecting a report from her security
chief. Kat gave another little smile and began talking while she picked
herself up off the floor and found a seat.

"We were investigating a federation ship found abandoned on the way to the
gamma quadrant, it had a homeing beacon on it which called the breen in, we
also found a changling, she's about eight." Kat crossed her legs smoothly
and stared at the ceiling she interlocked her fingers and wrapped her hands
around one knee the device she'd been playing with secreted about her. "Xana
was going to turn her over as soon as we reached GS-2, they claimed she
would be treated as a prisoner of war."

Maddie nodded, "so you stole a shuttle and ran?"

"Not quite, anyway I'd rather not tell you exactly what I did to get here."
Katlina looked up. "What's important to me is that you understand why."

"That's not what's important to Starfleet you're AWOL with a prisoner of
war; you where the commander of GS-2. God Kat do you even know all the
different ways they can spin this?" The half Vulcan sat down and rubbed at
her forehead. "And now I have a migraine coming on."

Katlina laughed and then looked serious. "She's eight Mad'hron, how would
you feel if you lost Tomas on the other side of a war zone."

Her friend looked up and glared at the small woman. "You're here now,
where's the changling."

"Safe, until I know I have your support." The two women stared at one
another for an increasingly long time.

Location: CENTURY CLASS VESSEL
Scene: Docking Hatch -> Shuttle Craft

Urika dove through the docking hatch first, there was no rush, and nothing
was chasing them there was just something safe about re-entering their own
shuttle after the unknown of the century class.

Izshlana followed after although slower the relief was still evident. "So
can I take the suit off?" She muttered sitting in a seat as Urika rummaged
for the power supply.

"No, I won't be long, just need to disengage a few things."

Lieutenant JG Vort nodded and then looked down at her glove. "Um, Miss
scientist?"

Urika rolled her eyes and turned around to see Vort holding up a gloved
hand, holes were beginning to appear in the glove and the arm where she had
brushed away the spider webs.

"You sure I can't take the suit off?" Izzy asked as she put a finger through
the hole and wiggled it at her colleague.

Urika paused in what she was doing and stepped back to the security officer
tricorder out. "It's a slow acting dissolvent." The Trill began.

"So can I take the suit off now?" Vort asked a hint of panic creaping into
her voice,

"Don't worry it's only active against non biological agents, probably so
whatever is trapped is stripped of anything that would stop the spider
getting at it's prey."

Izzy shuddered at the thought. "Still the suit is pretty much useless."

Urika nodded, "Get the spare while I get the battery."

"But I've been exposed to whatever is on that ship anyway."

"So we'll take the battery to engineering and then get you to sickbay where
Aerdan might have found out what you've been exposed to, but you're getting
into a new suit as there is no point risking prolonged exposure."

"Yes mum." Izshlana muttered and tromped to the back of the shuttle she let
out a sigh of relief as she stripped from the suit and stretched her acheing
tail, glowing a pale purple of pure pleasure.

"So you don't like spiders?" Urika asked to make conversation while she
worked.

"Not much, you should see the size of the tree spiders back home." She held
her hands apart about the distance of the length of her torso showing off
the ruined arm of her Starfleet uniform. "They can spit poison, pull birds
right out of the sky, and if you end up in a nest of them." She shuddered at
the thought not finishing her story. "So do you have the battery?"

"Nearly there." Urika answered.

Scene: Sickbay

Aerdan and Peter stood outside sickbay, the doctor held a torch up while the
XO worked on the locking mechanism, "they did a number on these doors."

"Keeping something out?" Aerdan mused.

"Or locking something in." The Brit answered "I should learn not to say
things like that." He admonished himself out loud.

"No good XO cookie for you when we get home." The Andorian retorted his
antenna quivering in anticipation.

Peter muttered something and then let out a little. "Hazzah, that got it."
The door jimmied open a little although not fully. "We're never going to get
in here with our suits on." He muttered as he eyed up the rubble behind the
door. Aerdan shone the torch through the door.

"No signs of movement." The doctor muttered, he strained with his antenna,
"I can't hear anything in there either." Finally he juggled the torch and
came up with his medical tricorder. "There's shielding around the sickbay
the readings aren't 100% but I think there is a lifesign in there."

Peter muttered quietly to himself. "Alright, let me work on getting this
door opened up further."

Scene: Engineering

Mathew hated sitting still, he wished he'd gone with Peter, or even Izzy,
he'd not had chance to speak to his assistant since she came home, and
running around the ship with her could have helped him get a handle on how
she was dealing with things. Instead he was the sitting duck, waiting for
something to come to him while he babysat the engineers.

They worked busily talking to each other while they tried to get life into
consoles, he understood most of the jargon from living with Peter but he
shut most of it out and concentrated on the doorways.

**Engineering, the centre of a starship, it's lifeline, the thing that made
it run through space… Why did it have to have so many ways in?**

A clang and a bang made him spin, phaser out as a hatchway opened, Izzy and
Urika tumbled out. "Battery deliveries are us." Izzy called. "One battery to
your local engineering department in 30 minutes or less or your money back."
Grinning the Alterian dropped the battery onto the console in front of Kiros
and then turned and walked to her boss.

"Why the Jeffries tubes?" Mathew asked when she reached his vantage point.
"Corridors are getting busy." Izzy answered quietly "I'm guessing we woke
something up."

Mathew sighed and nodded, "Right."

"Have you heard from Peter?" the small woman asked, she looked up at the
security chief who shook his head.

"Well you might want to warn them not to touch any spiders webs, they
corrode materials, and we wouldn't want the XO running around naked now
would we?"

Mathew tried not to laugh. "I'll contact them." He agreed and stepped away
from her slightly.

Kiros looked up and grinned, "We'll have the warp core up in minutes." He
called to the two security officers."

Izzy grinned and nodded at the engineer and then muttered through her teeth.
"And that's a good thing because?"

NRPG: OK, this is more like it ;) That's probably the last you'll see of Kat
until R&R unless I feel inspired.
