"The Few Who Were The Many...."
(Continued from Joy's: "Furtive Movements Part 2")
###################
Location: Derelict Century Class Ship
Stardate: 2.82605.1910
Scene: Sickbay
With a grunt of satisfaction Peter finally managed to
force the door mechanisms working. With a number of
judders and shudders, not to mention the awful screech
of metal on metal the door slowly opened.
Peter and Aerdan slipped inside.
"Any chance of getting the lighting up more in here?"
Aerdan asked the British ExO, his eyes concentrating
on the readings on the panel of his tricorder.
"I'll see what I can do." Peter looked around, "But
whatever happened here, they pretty muched trashed the
sick bay area."
"I can see that." Aerdan clucked and cautiously
stepped over the rubble. "The signs are flickering,
Peter have we seen this readings before?" He motioned
for the taller man to join him.
Peter glanced at the readings, "Can you get past the
interferance?" He asked the Doctor.
"I'm a Doctor, you're the Engineer." Aerdan tapped
his tricorder, "I've seen this sort of thing before."
The blue skinned Andorian muttered.
"You're right." Peter nodded, "Although not in that
configuration. Whatever is in the back half of this
Sickbay is fluctuating between this dimension and
another one."
Aerdan's antenna twirled, "Is that possible?"
"Possible." Peter shuddered, "Not advisable." He
tapped his COMM Badge, "Can you hear me Captain?" He
asked.
[[Your +++ aking ---- p!. Ha' n.]] Rharn's voice came
and went. [[Ok that's better. But B'rak says to be
quick.]]
"Alright we've got readings that suggest something is
popping from one dimension to the next." Peter
glanced around, "And I believe Aerdan has found it.
I'd recommend that we prepare some labs on the
STONEHENGE, but the most secure sheilding possible."
[[We'll see to it. Be careful Peter, no risks.]]
"Peter." Aerdan called softly, his antenna had
disappeared almost completely into his white shaggy
hair. His normally azure skin was a pale baby blue
and it was everything that the medic could do from not
losing the contents of his stomach. "You should see
this." There was a pause, "Well no you shouldn't but
I think you should."
"I'm sure that makes sense." Peter moved carefully
over the rubble and to the Doctor's side. "Oh." He
turned away and did lose the contents of his stomach.
"Sorry."
He forced his eyes to the three biobeds. "What the
hell happpened?" He turned shocked eyes to the
Doctor.
"I don't know, but I think we should get these..."
Aerdan paused, "Bodies across to the STONEHENGE."
"The readings are off the wall according to those
readings." Peter looked up.
"I'm not surprised." Aerdan managed to force his
shock down beneath layers of training and medical
professionalism. "I'd say that the first man has had
his leg forcible removed. The woman is missing her
right foor and hand, and the third male is missing,
well you can see."
"There seems to be some form of mutation as well."
"Yes." Aerdan glanced around, "I'll see what I can do
to stabilise them before the move."

Scene: Engineering
Izshlana Vort shook her hand and arm. It was itching
and starting to feel strangely warm. She took a deep
breath and looked around, for some reason the petite
Security Officer could see strange pulses from the
various equipment around the room. The Alterian
female took a few deep breaths, shut her eyes and
shook her head.
"You alright Izzy?" Matthew called across the room.
"Yep right as rain." The smaller Officer managed a
hasty smile, "Not a problem."
Urika looked across at her companion from the tunnels,
and moved across to her. Pulling a tricorder from her
pocket she started to scan Izzy. After a few minutes
she looked concerned, "Is your arm hurting?"
"No not really, just feels like pins and needles."
Izzy admitted slowly.
Urika patted the young woman, "Just bear with us."
She turned around, "Kiros how long will we be?"
"Another few connections." The Trill cadet answered
around a mouthful of tools. "Won't keep you a
second." With a triumphant whoop he slammed the last
connection into place. "Fingers crossed this should
start the warp core."
Together Kiros and Ronnie's fingers flew across the
various controls and the warp core flickered into
life, "It will take a few minutes to come up to full
capacity and then we can get this ship away from the
black hole."
"Good." Urika nodded and turned back to Izzy. "Just
let us know if it gets any worse."
"Will do." Izzy smiled and closed her eyes to try and
block out the strange pulses of light.

Location: USS STONEHENGE
Scene: Shielded Labs/Sick Bay
Izzy was surprised to find herself transported
immediately to the heavily shielded area. Aerdan
glanced up from his preparations but immediately moved
across the room to the young female.
"Can you remove your EVA for me Izzy?" He asked
softly.
"Sure." Relieved that she could finally get some
freedom she slithered out of the suit.
"It was your hand that came into contact with the
webs?" He asked, a medical tricorder appearing as if
by magic into his right hand.
"Yep." Izzy nodded, "It's been itchy and warm too."
"Well let's have a look at it." Aerdan swore under
his breath. "Come over here Izzy." He motioned her
to a biobed, and grabbed one of the new medical
shields and slipped it on over his face and activated
the shields. His eyes taking in the heavily darkened
skin of Izzy's right forearm.
Almost before his eyes he could see the *infection*
spread up her arm. He tapped his COMM Badge,
"Captain I think you should come down here."
Seconds later Rharn Alcedo appeared at the window
looking into the sickbay/labs. She pressed the COMM
on the side of the window, [[You wanted me Doctor?]]
"Izzy has been infected with something from the other
ship." Aerdan had linked the smaller female into
various machines. "It's changing her DNA."
[[What's it mutating her into?]] Rharn asked worry
lacing her normally calm voice.
"No idea." Aerdan admitted, "Nothing as severe as the
people next door."
[[Have you id'd them yet?]] His Captain asked softly.
"No, too much damage." Aerdan was watching Izzy's
readings on the panel above her bed, "I believe that
they thought going into stasis would halt the
process."
He paused as the lights flickered on and then came
back on again. "What was that?"
[[Power surge.]] Rharn suggested, [[I'll check with
Peter. Let me know if there is any change in Izzy.]]
"Immediately." Aerdan assured the crimson skinned
alien.

Scene: Engineering
Peter, Kiros, Ronnie and B'rak were all seated or
lounging around the CEO's office. There eyes all
trained on the various read-outs that scrolled up
various screens.
"They were trying to tow something back?" Ronnie
shook her head, "Are they nuts?"
"Apparently so." Peter narrowed his eyes, and
re-wound part of the readings, "Something came
through."
"Well yes." B'rak tried to keep the sarcasm from his
voice, "Them and those huge vat things."
"No I mean, something else." Peter punched buttons
and the recording he had been observing flashed on the
large plasma screen above their heads. "Look."
Four pairs of eyes were all trained on the screen.
"There's more than one." Kiros strained his
eye-sight. "Run it again." He concentrated, "There
are three of them." He muttered.
"Where?"
"Here." Peter's fingers through across the console
and a small area at the rear of the Century class ship
was magnified.
"They're attached to the hull of the ship." Ronnie
muttered, "There are two on the right and one on the
left."
"Attacking the warp nacelle?" B'rak suggested.
Kiros shook his head, "It's more like they're
feeding."
Suddenly the STONEHENGE shuddered and bucked under
their feet. Without even thinking they charged from
the room.
"Two to transport to the Bridge." Peter snapped as
the red alert klaxons and lights came on. Even as
they ran towards the doors, he and Ronnie disappeared
in blue sparks.
Kiros and B'rak ran to the two main consoles in
engineering.
"Power is being leeched from the left warp narcelle."
A junior officer offered as the two Assistants
appeared.
"Can we get an image?" B'rak snapped, "Change the mix
in the warp nacelles and also start randomising our
shield sequences."
-[/\]-
Scene: Bridge
Rharn braced herself against the back of her chair,
"On screen." She snapped. Her black eyes focusing on
the view screen, "I want every sensor reading
anything that moves, twitches or apparently stands
still." The Nocturian continued.
"Sheilds are being randomised." An ensign from
Engineering slid from his seat as Ronnie and Peter
appeared.
Peter glanced around, "Ready weapons." The British
man ordered, "But hold till our mark."
Ronnie swore under her breath, "There's an absence on
our sensors."
"An absence?" Rharn glanced across at the hybrid.
"Yep an absence of everything."
Urika's voice broke the tension, "I've found them."
The image of the left nacelle appeared, clustered
around it where a number of black shapes.
"What are they?"
"They are the absence." Urika tried to explain, "They
do not register on our sensors. There are no
readings."
Peter's gaze became slightly vacant, "They are the
many and they are in pain. They were many and torn in
parts."
Rharn glanced at Ronnie, "Can you sense them?" She
asked realising that they must be empathic or
telepathic on some level.
"Nope nothing."
A male Betazed slumped to the floor, his hands
clutching at his head.
[[I'm getting multiple casualities from all decks.]]
Aerdan shouted over the COMM, [[What the heck is
happening? I've had to call in all medical
personnel.]]
"Are those that collapsed all male?" Rharn asked.
[[Apparently.]] Aerdan answered after a few minutes,
[[Also you should know that the infection in Izzy's
arm has spread past her elbow.]]
"Do what you can." She turned to her ExO concern
etched onto her face, "Ronnie I need something to
block their broadcasting."
"I'll see what I can do."
Rharn moved to Peter's side and helped him sit down.
"Peter?"
[[They are scared and hungry.]] Tears slid down the
British man's face, [[So angry, they were the many.
Were are the many.....]]
